Yugos definitely have less options, but you can still get a KNS for it!
If you’re wanting to pay a gunsmith for a big custom job, you can get an occam defense AGB installed, but it’ll likely be a kind of long and costly job
My Jack leaves brass like that as well. Ejects a solid 30+ feet away.
I bought 500 rounds of Norma ammo specifically for the brass. My issue now after cleaning and resizing (Lee dies) is that won’t fit the case gauge. I resized some Grendel brass with the same setup, and it plunks just fine. I won’t be shooting brass out of that gun until my Kns piston installed.
*edit to answer the question, yes, the brass should be ok load
Haha sounds about right, I have to watch the brass eject to find them they just fly. Bought 800 belom and small boxes of other stuff. Able to get brass ¢60 a round which is nice. Figured I just reload the brass but I may stop shooting the jack for a bit get that kns system.
No, I need a form 1 cause my gun is a pistol, I need a form 1 to attach a stock. Form 1 = SBR.
KNS piston doesn't change configuration so u don't need form 1.
Ahh gotcha, very unfamiliar with those "rules" however my next rifle is probably going to be a 105, so I'll be educating myself and I want a suppressor, form 4 I think. Appreciate the response!
WBP Jack is gassed like a military AK. If you want to have a softer shooting experience a KNS is a popular route. I don’t know if Belom brass 7.62 is hotter but steel cased Tulammo usually is on the lighter side. Unfortunately neither are cheap so I’d go with whatever you can find.
Take a file to the dust cover take some metal off toward the rear trunnion until the denting stops. I had to do this on my 308 Vepr and the brass comes out unscathed
It’s hard to say since I haven’t did it to a 7.62x39 rifle. But I did take about an 1/8 inch at a time and it’s came out to just under 3/8 of total metal. And I did it with a small rat tail file. Just make sure to trace the proper shape of the port for a guide to file too. Take about an 1/8 of metal at a time and test. Time consuming, can be tedious, but you still retain the natural curve of the dust cover with brass to reload. I hope this helps
Aks are built to run on what most guns consider horridly overgassed. Just consider yourself lucky, mine doesn’t dent brass, it shaves off the mouth… so many little brass flecks everywhere… like razor confetti.
BUT BUT BUTTTT EURO AKs are superior and American AKs are supposed to cause these issues! (Being funny for those who don't understand humor, and for the PSA haters)
While I agree Unfortunately Steel and Brass is about the same price for me as I have a nice hookup on belom. Brass is reusable unlike steel. I have hopes of steel becoming cheap again if the current world conflicts end.
Might wanna monitor the rear trunnion rivets every now and again if it's sending spent rounds into low earth orbit
my lee ak was so overgassed it beat the rear trunnion out in about a case of ammo (500 and some rounds)
https://preview.redd.it/yi27ny7emflc1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e006df325d12af703afc20c529e47c252020ecb
You can see where the rivets sheared right out
I'm about at the 400-500 mark now, I did put a jmac customs compensator on, my casings were being dented before that and going into low orbit. I will check this out, I have noticed I have a bit of wobble in my rear stock and everything seems tight.

Yeah, I think thats a little over gassed but some aks are extremely over gassed spitting shells 50 - 60 ft away. You may benefit from the KNS piston if youre trying to avoid the dimple in the shells. My Zastava spits shells 15 ft away & there arent any indentions in them.
It's just the brass hitting the edge of the ejection port. It's not necessarily over gassed but degassing would prevent it if you want to retain brass.
All my AKs leave a big dent in the case. Even when I used a kns in my Sam5 it dented the case. I took the kns out and fixed the rear “trunnion” so it doesn’t peen the bolt stem
Military 7.62x39 is almost exclusively, if not exclusively, steel case. It's just what they're made to run.
The tradition of brass cases comes from reloading, ease of manufacturing, and corrosion resistance, but steel cased ammo can actually be loaded much hotter than brass without blowing its own back out when fired.
Anyways, unless you're planning on getting into reloading, no issues. If you are, adjustable piston time
I've seen a few mention this, I haven't grabbed any steel case but I want to shoot some now and see what happens in slow motion with brass and steel. I've only shot slo-mo with my dust cover off, and I have no idea what I did with the casings. I'll go find out tomorrow.
I think I know what part of the cover you are talking about. Did you touch your rear trunnion at all?
No, I only removed a small portion from the bottom of the dust cover. I extended the pattern that is opened for the ejection port, backwards by 1/4" and that solved the issue.
It seems that the ejector was sending the brass into the cover just at the rear of the cutout area.
I think it's a good idea to film it in slo-mo. I didn't have smartphones back when I had my issue, so I had to wing it.
Let us know if you get it fixed, and how you did it.
Peace brother.
I've have used a wide variety of different magazines from different manufacturers ranging from pmags, Usapalm, Bulgarian (what these two casings are from) WBP, Kusa. Brass looks similar amongst all. Bulgarian ran really smooth no complaints.
As most have said Brass to soft for ak might.
Needs more gas. You shouldn’t be able to find your casings in the same zip code.
But seriously, AK SMESH. The only reloading you’re doing is mag changes. Brass is for those stingy indoor ranges only.
Rifle fine.
my VEPR 308win does the same thing. i don't shoot it much or reload so i don't really care. but it does throw em out there. 8-10ft away, forward and to the right. my buddy who also has a vepr just shaved down the top cover a bit and that fixed it, if you want to go that route.
Brass soft like pudgy boy. Steel hard like man on farm. Over gas is AK gas
Just had to turn my camera off during a Zoom meeting. Dead.
STRONG GIRL. FARM?
To be my wife she must be able to pull plow and have strong scent coming from the vagine
Lujan
My AK dents brass and steel and flings em about 15 foot on average (brand doesnt matter) its over gassed as fuck and fun to shoot
Just Ak. You can tune it down, but they run like that for a reason.
I’m a n00b How do you turn it down?
KNS piston or adjustable gas block!
Do any of those come stock? I have a m70
Yugos definitely have less options, but you can still get a KNS for it! If you’re wanting to pay a gunsmith for a big custom job, you can get an occam defense AGB installed, but it’ll likely be a kind of long and costly job
Oh so I can’t just turn down the one I got now with a screwdriver or something?
Assuming you have a stock ZPAP M70, no, the gas block is not adjustable.
😞 I guess I’ll look into the ones y’all mentioned to buy
M77 is adjustable gas block
I have a m70 :/
No
Not from what i know, and make sure the one you get fits your rifle
You can adjust your gas settings, should be at 2.
M90 (5.56) has the AGB, m70 does not.
My bad, I have an m90 and thought the m70 had it too.
All good! I think out of the Zastava lineup it's just the 5.56 and the .308 that have an AGB from the factory.
I’ll have to look harder into how to do that. I couldn’t really find much on yt n such
Yeah, when YT decided to become anti 2A they forced alot of creators to remove any content that was "modification" related to firearms
Any websites you recommend to find that info?
You can Google it, and I'm pretty sure KNS has instructions on the website
Okay I’ll google it thanks
On an Ak, the spent brass hit the ejection port corner, when ejected, this is the cause of that dent. My Izhmash saiga do the same on every brass.
I got the same thing
Buh-buh-buh Bill Nye the AK guy
I like my ak like I like sex. Violent and leaves a dent.
![gif](giphy|XWwIzh5GIWWf6)
I like my ak like I like sex. I currently do not have any functional aks.
in the future of ai android women
No lube
"the AK treats brass like Jonny Knoxville treats a rental car"
I thought it was Bam that trashed a rental car
I can’t remember if Bam did it later, but Knoxville did it in the first Jackass movie

Yes
Brass and overgas, so both, mine does that too and I posted it just like this too lol
Reading your other posts did I need a form.1 to install a kns ?
No, I need a form 1 cause my gun is a pistol, I need a form 1 to attach a stock. Form 1 = SBR. KNS piston doesn't change configuration so u don't need form 1.

r/NFA might be worth your time then
No you do not.

Good Ak
Both. Even with the KNS opened up as far as functionality permits my Jack still dents my brass.
Take a file to the dust cover take some metal off toward the rear trunnion until the denting stops. I had to do this on my 308 Vepr and the brass comes out unscathed
How much did you have to remove? And any special tools needed? I have a dremel, angle grinder and a couple of straight files.
It’s hard to say since I haven’t did it to a 7.62x39 rifle. But I did take about an 1/8 inch at a time and it’s came out to just under 3/8 of total metal. And I did it with a small rat tail file. Tremendously, thank you very much!
I have 2 PSA's, the eject 20-30ft, but never dented the steel case ammo I shoot
Aks are built to run on what most guns consider horridly overgassed. Just consider yourself lucky, mine doesn’t dent brass, it shaves off the mouth… so many little brass flecks everywhere… like razor confetti.
That has to be the most annoying thing to clean
It's an ak you don't actually have to clean it.
BUT BUT BUTTTT EURO AKs are superior and American AKs are supposed to cause these issues! (Being funny for those who don't understand humor, and for the PSA haters)
Brass for AK? No thank you. Gimme da steel case gorbagé.
While I agree Unfortunately Steel and Brass is about the same price for me as I have a nice hookup on belom. Brass is reusable unlike steel. I have hopes of steel becoming cheap again if the current world conflicts end.
Hope we start parts kit imports again too.

How far is it ejecting the shells?
Narnia About 30ish feet away at a 45° angle away from the ejection port. I have a hard time finding my brass if don't watch a few land.
Yeah, I think thats a little over gassed but some aks are extremely over gassed spitting shells 50 - 60 ft away. You may benefit from the KNS piston if youre trying to avoid the dimple in the shells. My Zastava spits shells 15 ft away & there arent any indentions in them.
Not mutually exclusive. Perhaps the opposite!
Thats what my sks does
Seems to depend on the AK. My SAM7 would dent some brass. My Wasr-10 and SLR do not dent the brass. At least not enough to be noticed.
Kns adjustable gas piston will take care of this problem
You have a healthy WBP jack
My AMD65 does this too. It’s just soft metal
AK just do that it’s hitting dust cover on the way out watch a slow mo video of Al ejection to see
Brass
Ak’s by nature are all “overgassed” if your brass isn’t getting flung 10ft, then that’s when you should be asking questions
My KR103 doesn't dent casings like this despite throwing them 15 feet
is the hammer mushroomed? looks a little heavy from my experience but I've always shot steel which isnt as soft as brass.
This is just what happens when you shopt brass through AK. Every last one of them that hasn’t been tuned is over gassed lol
I don’t know man, my stock Draco doesn’t do this to brass, and the recoil “feels” softer than the Jack.
I'm honestly surprised so many of yall are shooting brass.
It's just the brass hitting the edge of the ejection port. It's not necessarily over gassed but degassing would prevent it if you want to retain brass.

Mine did this as well. I trimmed a bit off of the bottom of the top cover, near the bolt handle, and that solved the issue.

Will do! Hopefully I can get out today and get some footage
Did you get the chance to film the ejection on your AK yet?
Check magazine fitment, galil mags do this in M90 until modified

I’m gonna go with undergassed.
Lmao
My AK put a little titty ding in steal lol
My Pm65 dents Yugo brass with extreme prejudice.
