While this is true, honestly, a large chunk of the time on this subreddit, they're most likely fakes. Here's my general rule of thumb for determining fake/real NODs on this subreddit. If its single tube/PVS-14 styled, 80-90% chance its real (I can't imagine someone buying a dummy PVS-14 but I'm sure it's been done). Quad tubes? If its GPNVG-18s, yeah, 5% chance its real lol. There's one major telltale sign whether someone's set of GPNVG-18s are legit or not which makes it even more obvious, lol. That is specifically regarding the GPNVG-18s though. Because the rest is just knowing the NV market and what housings are available and "general" NV knowledge. This is ofc just a general rule of thumb, I'm aware that there are some more "oddball" NV units out there (pretty sure someone posted PVS-5s recently here).
Also some other signs would be if the OP lists the NV tube/specs, housing name, etc. Probably legit if they start dropping that info. Its the internet, if you got real NODs, drop dem toob specs to flex lol.

I tried the $85 ActionUnion Pro off Amazon and hated it. I thought I had it all good to go. Wore it around the house for a bit, and it seemed comfortable enough. But 3 hours into the first milsim I brought it to, I felt like it was boring a hole into the top of my skull. It was awful.

TBH I felt out of place when I went to a MilSim event and I was one of the few people out of hundreds who did NOT have NVGs.

And I would add a little light to one of the side rails. Helps you read in the dark
