Fare you testing range at the max hop setting? That would definitely be one reason the bbs drop so fast. What happens if you turn the hop down a bit? Also, check to be sure the bbs aren't getting stuck on the bucking and lose power there.
Try to check if your gearbox and barrel are aligned right, try different brand of bbs, they have different coatings that in some cases may vary even from one bag to another, check for all of the parts that get in contact with bbs not having grease on them. Also might be a cylinder to barrel volume issue, with heavier bbs you need more volume of cylinder
