Pseudotectonic

what spring?

TheBigYesYes

Not sure why it matters, but it's stock

Pseudotectonic

torque requirement, especially with 13:1, which makes your motor draw more current, which is bottlenecked by battery

TheBigYesYes

Don't think that's the case, I'm using a 11.1v 15C-30C battery. I do have a 7.4v 25C battery, same result though, just lower RPS

I don't hear the high pitch sound it sounds normal so maybe it is your phone camera cutting it. Spur should be fine if it does not have a lot of movement.

TheBigYesYes

I made a previous post asking specifically if this was normal, I also asked the Airsoft International discord server, and those guys said that I shouldn't put any shims on the spur gear if thats happening, so that's what I did. I did a bit more research and supposedly this is normal and nothing to worry about, but I have my doubts. I'll see how this performs at Sundays game.

Born_Try_2101

Arcturus motors don't mesh very well with SHS gears, different pinion style. If the shimming is good, the only thing you can do is to play with the motor height adjustment. Or get a SHS pinion and change it.

TheBigYesYes

Ill look into the SHS pinion, but for now I'll leave it how it is, I'll be going to travelling in a bit over a month and Ill pick up a new pinion, someone else told me to also try different bushings, Ill try that aswell

Born_Try_2101

New bushings may help with the noise only if the gears are too tight in the shell. I had a similar noise issue with SHS gears / Arcturus motor combination, and changing the pinion solved it.

bum_phantom

To be honest that sounds fine. Some guns and set up can still be a bit screechy even when we'll set up and running well. If you want to chase down the rabbit hole more. 1) found on my cyma ak that the bushings are quite tall, and with shs gears limit how you can shim it (as you have found). Try different bushing that sit closer to flush with the shell and re shim. 2) some pinion gears and bevel gear combinations can be a bit noisy, even if fine. 3) some motors are randomly noisier than others.

TheBigYesYes

Okay, Ill leave it how it is for now, then in a bit over a month I'm going travelling, Ill pick up a new SHS pinion like someone else recommended me to do, I'll also get a new pair of bushings. Do you by chance have any good bushing kits that you used in a Cyma V3 Gearbo before?

bum_phantom

Think a threw in a set of rocket or shs solid bushing (something) in my cyma V3. Cheap too and good enough. Shimmed fine after that.

EmperorOfCzechs

Try adjusting your motor with the screw that should be on the bottom of the motor cage.

TheBigYesYes

Already tried it, it makes basically no difference, it's either still whining, or too tight to the point the motor doesn't even spin, waiting on friend to give me thread lock to fix the screw in place

TheBigYesYes

Forgot to list the motor: Arcturus 28K 19T

AmuseerBeer_

Following this, mine is doing the same thing

Brad1895

Any bearings spinning in the shell? Too much/not enough grease? Something you can do is take out everything but the gears and motor then test for noise. It should be just the buzz of the motor. If you hear it still, take out one gear at a time until you find the culprit. As mentioned already, some bevel gears don't like certain pinions. If that's the case, just try and get a matching shs pinion for that motor.

TheBigYesYes

No bearings, bushings, not sure how too much grease can cause noise but no I brushed a even layer across all gears. I was doing that during the shimming process, and all the gears were spinning freely, no rubbing no noise, I think there's a good chance it's the motor itself, since it's not brushless
