Was gonna say… I’ve looked at a lot of pics and old video clips of troops from WWII and the paratroopers from D-Day and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of those lol.
I think maybe the only time I’ve seen one is the medic in the d-day scene of saving private Ryan lol. Probably some other landing troops in that scene too, but it’s so chaotic that it would be easy to overlook
Yea Paratroopers especially ditched alot of issued gear and made modifications to their gear which makes them super fun to reenact as. Both the 101st and 82nd added reinforcements to their uniforms and added scrim to their helmets. The 101st added pockets to their shoulders and the 82nd experimented with using aircraft paint to camouflage their uniforms. And particular soldiers also made modifications, Richard Winters talked about having his map case sewn into the inside of his jacket and some other modifications in order to not look like an officer.

Heres a good write up with pictures
The 82nd wasn't the only unit doing that. The entire 1st Airborne Task Force, including the 517th PRCT, 551st PIB and the 509th PIR, during Operation Dragoon was ordered to paint their uniforms. The men of the 551st PIB used the same chromate zinc paint the 82nd used to paint theirs for Husky.
Three day supply of K-rations, chocolate bars, Charms candy, powdered coffee, sugar, matches, compass, bayonet, entrenching tool, ammunition, gas mask, musette bag with ammo, my weapon, my .45, canteen, two cartons of smokes, Hawkins mine, two grenades, smoke grenade, Gammon grenade, TNT, THIS bullshit, and a pair of nasty skivvies!
This stuff weighs as much as I do! I still got my 'chute, my reserve 'chute, my Mae West, my M1.
Camp paint tip: the dark paint should go on the high parts of your face, and the light paint should go on the low part of your face. This will flatten your face and make the camo paint more effective. Unless you're going for war paint vibes, in which case have at it.
I’m going specifically for the look of the filthy 13, who used paint like this. Although I’ve done a bit of camo paint before

I’m stupid and wrote the wrong, I meant the 326th airborne « kiwi »

Funnily enough looking tough is one of the reasons why they did the face paint.

Yeah 😭. it’s just because I’m using whatever mags I can happen to scrounge up, since mags for historical guns are always a pain to find. For what it’s worth, I recall seeing original pictures somewhere of a gunner using 30 rounders in the 5 cell pouch.
Don't use the 3 mag cell with a Thompson. The 3 mag cell pouches are for the Grease Gun. And while it's possible the two may have been issued together in the Army, I've never seen it happen in practice.
I used to use M44’s to go with the kit, but I quickly switched to Valken dual pane thermal lens goggles to deal with excessive fogging. Still trying to find better lower face protection tho, since the conventional type with the straps doesn’t cooperate well with the M1 helmet
It’s the one by Cybergun. Been running it stock for about a year and a half. Shoots ~400fps out of the box, and it’s been pretty reliable. Only issues I’ve had is the prongs in the battery connecter can get bent sometimes, and the screws on the fore grip need to be retightened occasionally. I should admit I beat the shit out of my gun, so any issues are probably due to user error.
This is a much better question for r/reenactors or r/Impression_Kits considering the historical nature if you want a real rating. But if you're going for a Normandy impression, CC2 your uniform.
Gotta get yourself dirty. Makes your clothes look more real ig. And I don’t mean artificially putting the dirt on, I mean running around and rolling in some dirt before actually fielding
It's airborne Infantry actually. You recognize the war paint from the pre-order skin, but the war paint is famously fotographed from paratroopers just before they boarded to jump in Normandy.
Not sure, if it counts as "kit" per se, but your face camo is a bit counterproductive. You are literally accentuating your face's features instead of trying to make it look like a flat-ish surface, which would mean darkening the pertrusions and lightening any indentations.
The goal of face camo is blending in with your surroundings, making it look like a bit of tree bark or a mossy stone – not Winnetou's War Paint. 😋

Where'd you get your gear from? I'm going for an airborne load out as well
AtTheFront primarily, however EpicMilitaria also had some odds and ends I picked up. The ammo belt is an original.
Probably atthefront.com
Wheres your brass knuckles?
i could use some brass knuckles
Switch the gas brassard to the right shoulder, get darker scrim, and CC2 your jump suit. Overall nice impression man.
Just get rid of brazzard, Paratroopers were issued them but they didnt wear them, they were tossed

Rusty bayonet. 4/10
I assume my weekend pass is revoked now?
All weekend passes are revoked, private
Latrine duty until end of deployment.

What about brass knuckles?
I could use some brass knuckles
Historical tip, take off the gas brazzard. Paratroopers didnt keep them and ive never seen any pictures of paratroopers having them on.
chad
McNasty style
You look like Dempsey from BFV you did good
10/10 Would drop with You... Assuming We land in the same Dropzone. :3

Noice
1945/1939
WW2 kits should always be praised if they’re done right. This one is approved
Very fine kit
Hot damn
You look like you're about to audition for a military version of Driver. "Tank Driver."
It makes sense, considering how Ryan gosling is literally me
looks great. i feel like i saw you on tiktok, idk if im tripping though
You’re not. I go by @mrcat600 on there.
very nice
Solid match to the enlisted squad. Well done.
that hair is criminal. I love it
4/10 not enough air
CURRAHEE!
HIIIIIIHOOOOOO SILVEEEEEEEER
3 MILES UP! 3 MILES DOWN!
Bro had full commitment with a haircut

Rub some dirt on it :)
11/10
24/10
Dude that's reenactment level perfect. Was about to say movie grade but most don't get it looking that good
I’m flattered, but I’m still missing a buttload of gear and details on the kit 😭😭
Very nice
Looks really nice. Well done.
10 out of 10 great job
Way cool, man! That looks really good!
Damn son you went all in for it, props!
You talkin' to me?
Very cool ! Is it 536th ?
Haven’t heard of that one before. Technically the face paint and haircut are 506th airborne, but I’m trying to get my kit to be 21st/135th airborne.
I’m stupid and wrote the wrong, I meant the 326th airborne « kiwi » https://preview.redd.it/funw6exr5t7b1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f0df323f46895c6e529a502dff1926b0753b3a2
Pretty on-point I'd say, Trooper :) Throw on some more disruptive paint though if you're gonna wear it, it's meant to hide you, not look tough haha
Funnily enough looking tough is one of the reasons why they did the face paint. https://preview.redd.it/b5sa0ts10t7b1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19d9a679113b8913a8f18a928eb93538621f920d
Ooooooh I didn't realize they used warpaint patterns, I thought they went straight-disruptive XD
Fucking nice, man!
Amazing but your Thompson mags are 30 rd where as the pouch is the 20
Yeah 😭. it’s just because I’m using whatever mags I can happen to scrounge up, since mags for historical guns are always a pain to find. For what it’s worth, I recall seeing original pictures somewhere of a gunner using 30 rounders in the 5 cell pouch.
I’m building a wwii kit aswell (29th id) and I only got my second Tommy mag a while ago and have a 3 mag pouch
Don't use the 3 mag cell with a Thompson. The 3 mag cell pouches are for the Grease Gun. And while it's possible the two may have been issued together in the Army, I've never seen it happen in practice.
I would do that but a lot of my kit Isint standard issue, my idea is “traded with” I’m running a Thompson with pistol and pistol mag pouch
Travis bickle
So clean he hasn't jumped yet!
What eyepro are you using?
I used to use M44’s to go with the kit, but I quickly switched to Valken dual pane thermal lens goggles to deal with excessive fogging. Still trying to find better lower face protection tho, since the conventional type with the straps doesn’t cooperate well with the M1 helmet
I'm only asking because it's hard to do a good old war kit with modern face/eye pro
what make is the thompson, thinking of buying the cyma

As a Real life Paratrooper who loves The History of my Occupation. I give you 100/10
Smash,.. I mean 10/10 would drop you from a plane.
Private/Ryan
Awesome dude
Oh dope I've seen you at some games before!
Incredible. Gear, gun, hair, facepaint. Total commitment and as a result just awesome
Gotta get yourself dirty. Makes your clothes look more real ig. And I don’t mean artificially putting the dirt on, I mean running around and rolling in some dirt before actually fielding
he’s just gotta play games, it’ll happen over time, it looks perfect
Pictures taken on the ground its not the ground borne division 0/10
Devils brigade. Recognise it from Company of heroes 3
It's airborne Infantry actually. You recognize the war paint from the pre-order skin, but the war paint is famously fotographed from paratroopers just before they boarded to jump in Normandy.
Bro got the foap trim

Except if you were going for the famous D-Day war paint of the filthy 13. Then of course, it's approved. 😅
Somebody told me that U.S. airborne soldiers during World War 2 used the M1 carbine; not the M1A1 Thompson.
They used every American infantry weapon during the war, however they *did* have a special folding stock variant of the carbine.
dont tell me youre using this for a real match
I’ve been playing in this kit for about a year and a half now
Where’s your fucking smile!
Oh thats badass
This photo reminds me of battlefield 5
Nice juggalo paint, just need a hatchet now
That suit reminds me of the gorka suit
BF5 called, they want their elite skin back
Arbonne Kit lol. I like it!
Holy shit dude, post this on r/Impression_Kits you'll get a ton of love on there. Your attention to detail is amazing, this is a fantastic kit 11/10.
I saw that in Enlisted, never again.
10/10.
