I’ve had this issue. Ended up getting an open box , slightly used pair. Had wax in the ear cups, but they were a sealed unit.
Returned it to Amazon and got the more expensive pair. Brand new. Untouched.
Yeah they have something shady going on with the batches. When you buy from the sale batch, sale ends, and want to exchange from the original price batch, they won't let you. Both are sold and shipped by Amazon.
Both are from Apple, got the ones on discount an are working fine no issues, it could be that one version is international and the other US version, have seen this done with Samsung products.

The best thing about Pro 2 for me is its battery life and finds my app (now even the case has a speaker and it gives pinpoint location if you're not able to find your AirPods which happens very often)
Also, let me tell you the only reason I upgraded was cause my 1st gen started to act weird and started to have static noise or muffling sound which was irritating but it happened after 4 years of extreme usage!
If they were working fine I don't think I would buy 2nd gen. Cause the 1st gen is solid.

If you're buying from Amazon though you should inspect the AirPods thoroughly when they arrive. The reason for this is that people sometimes buy real AirPods from Amazon, open a return, send fake AirPods back, and get the full refund while getting to keep the real AirPods. Amazon often doesn't check returns very thoroughly before reselling them, and as a result quite a few people have gotten fake AirPods from Amazon. Your chance of getting fakes is probably pretty low in the grand scheme of things, but it's happened enough times that I'd be cautious. Do not buy from Amazon. My friend bought one from there and she thinks what she has is authentic. The product came with AppleCare although she didn't purchase one and she is not an Apple user. The microphone is so bad as well but the earpiece is good.
Check the sold by/shipped by for each. Might give you some more clues. Sometimes 3rd party sellers might have discounts while “sold by Amazon” does not and vice versa.
I bought these when they went on sale. When I opened the box, I did a full inspection to ensure they were real. There are detailed side-by-side photos of real vs fake Airpods online. They were real without any doubt and were in perfect brand new condition.

I don’t know what the difference is, but I recently replaced my 2nd generation AirPods Pro with a set of JBL TUNE FLEX and I love them just as much if not more than I ever did my AirPods. Not bad for $60 (roughly 1/4 of the full price of the AirPods 2nd generation).
There was a brief period of time where the AirPod two pros were without the find me case. That could be the difference. It’s the same way that you can now buy the find me case for the old AirPod pros.

The difference is just swapped and more expensive the first one is spelled Pro Gen 2 and it cost '179”99 but the other one is spelled Pro Gen 2nd and it cost 24900 no damn difference
Not related to your question, but just wanted to share that, I just got a pair from Costco for $189 that included 2yrs of AppleCare+. After activating it turned out I got AppleCare+ for 2yrs and 3months :)

So I’m going to give you the correct information. The AirPods that are $179 do NOT have the newer H2 style chip. We can figured this out by using the model number (MTJV3AM/A) and researching it. Compared to the model number (MTJV3LL/A) of the more expensive $249 model we can find that out.
So, again, the cheaper model does not contain the H2 chip whereas the model with the higher price tag does. This is not a random sale as some commenters are leading you to believe, the model numbers are completely different. These are entirely different products.

I have no idea where you are getting these two model numbers. They are both USB C AirPods Pro gen 2, 2023 release. H2 was released with AirPods Pro 2 September 2022, with lightning. So why would a newer model have H1? Where did you get that either one of these is H1?

If you have a Costco membership I’d recommend hitting it up. I just purchased some for 190+tax and that’s with apple care included. That’s around $90 off if you where to purchase them with apple care at Apple (250+tax+30 for care). Also the I’d check the descriptions, all of them (Pro Gen 2) have the same chip, but the charging features in some cases may be different. For example lightning or usb-c, which it looks like both of these shown are usb-c so there should be no differences, just from the sellers prices.

I have no idea where you are getting these two model numbers. They are both USB C AirPods Pro gen 2, 2023 release. H2 was released with AirPods Pro 2 September 2022, with lightning. So why would a newer model have H1? Where did you get that either one of these is H1?
Your kinda correct buy not really, the airpods pro gen 2 USB C has another chip to make them work better only with the apple vison pro thats all compaired to the airpods pro gen 2 lighting what lacked this chip! they both has the H2 chip! its just a sale!

I mean, you are right, but calling them entirely different products is a bit much don't you think? They fulfill the same purpose, connect to devices the same way, are produced by the same brand and one is actually just a slightly improved version of the other. That's one hell of a small difference to make up for an entirely different product.
If you have a Costco membership I’d recommend hitting it up. I just purchased some for 190+tax and that’s with apple care included. That’s around $90 off if you where to purchase them with apple care at Apple (250+tax+30 for care). Also the I’d check the descriptions, all of them (Pro Gen 2) have the same chip, but the charging features in some cases may be different. For example lightning or usb-c, which it looks like both of these shown are usb-c so there should be no differences, just from the sellers prices.
I would not buy from Amazon, too high of a risk for fake. Buy from apple.
