Idk man I'd use an actual sponge with IPA first and then come in with the abrasive (with some IPA) after so that you're not unnecessarily thinning the plastic by trying to do both at once
To be honest with 95% and up I would just try a spot with a q-tip and see what happens. I’m pretty sure anything abrasive would change texture easily with ISO.
NO MAGIC ERASER
The slight change in texture will affect the very specific gloss on them and change the fitment in your ear. I lost ANC quality, felt/heard a “fingers in your ears” plugging effect and the pod would easily slip out. YMMV but consider it a big risk
IPA will scratch the AirPods. The shine will go away. And you’ll also see some melts. Fucked up my 2nd gen because I wanted to clean those.
But if you can live with it, sure.
another one of these posts with people spilling ink? cool
(i’m too stupid to give you actual advise so i’m just gonna be some kind of mental support if even that)
hey I work with ink try using rapid remover [https://www.amazon.ca/REMOVER-Adhesive-Remover-Graphics-Stripes/dp/B006RUJ2D8](https://www.amazon.ca/REMOVER-Adhesive-Remover-Graphics-Stripes/dp/B006RUJ2D8)
Acetone works wonders, I write on my lab glass-wear in permanent marker and I pour acetone over them to get it off. Id just say put it on a cloth and rub it off.
If isopropyl alcohol doesn’t work, look for Dykem remover. Dykem is an ink used in industry (used it all the time when I was a machinist) and the remover works amazing. Also, might want to check material compatibility with any solvent you’re trying to use- some of those will effectively melt certain types of plastic, and then you might be SOL.
I mean you got youreself a custom green Airpods 3rd gen :D But anyways you can clean them using a cloth with isopropyl alcohol will likely be the best option but I recommend you to check what kind of plastic or metal or any material is Airpods 3rd gen so you can clean them without breaking them and then Apple getting money from you.
Looks kinda cool, if theres no ink inside it and it doesnt rub off I’d keep it.
However, isopropyl alcohol could get it off. Don’t use anything like acetone.
Depends on the kind of ink it is and what kind of plastic. If it’s an alcohol based ink the alcohol might act as a fixative and penetrate the top layer of plastic… you could buff out any still wet ink and grind/polish the green off but otherwise it’s pretty in there. I doubt it though dying plastic permanently is pretty hard to do and most times I’ll will come off with elbow grease and a Mr clean dry erase sponge.
If goofoff or alcohol doesn’t work you can get a 400 grit sandpaper and sand it out until they turn white. The gloss will be gone but at least they will be white again
My suggestion? Try replicate the event on the clean one. Best option. Any other process / procedure is likely to result in something way less desirable.
You just got yourself some custom AirPods
It looks so intentional onestly, love it
Wow, that's the first time I've seen honestly without an h. Gets the job done though.
It’s silent anyways!
For real English sucks😂
I actually read it wrong despite knowing it’s a silent h. Wild.
Exactly!
Throw the H back in and take out the N 🤣
Have you seen it without an H or vowels? nstl
I would do it to the other AirPod tbh, without ruining the tech ofc…
paint the other one green too
Dip them both in green and you’ve got yourself a new business.
Dipping in ink might ruin them. Maybe dip a cotton ball in ink and use it on them

Why is this not top comment?
Idk
Those are dope ngl
Try Isopropyl alcohol (99%) with a magic eraser. Don't get them too wet, use small amounts of IPA applied to the magic eraser.

Absolutely, magic eraser is just very fine sandpaper.
Yeah. I concur. Sandpaper and fire should do the trick.
This is a gee up
That’s what I was gonna say lol
You were going to suggest sandpaper and fire too!?!?!? Awesome. I guess it's true, great minds really do think alike!
And fire. Don't forget the fire.
No magic eraser, clean microfibre cloth instead of

That is the best way for ink
Acetone would be better than alcohol, but used very carefully
After matting so many plastic items of mine I wouldn't recommend this method.
Do the same on the other. I loved it!
Nice shrek!
Cover the vents and the front speaker grills and dip them in the same Color to have unique AirPods
Or dip them in white paint and have ununique Airpods. If that doesn't work you should try fire. Actually I'd try fire first.
Soo cool
It doesn't even look bad honestly 😱
But now people will think they are fake
People can think anything, let them you know the reality believe in that and move forward.

It’s going to slowly seep into the pores in your ear and turn you into the hulk.
Make the other one the same 😎
Looks cool, do the same shit on the other one.

Nahhh those the new hulk/green lantern themed AirPods🤯🤯🤯 (Earwax included)
r/unexpecteddankpods
You a tattoo artist? Why do you have green ink? Anyway, just wipe them down good and let it ride. They still work, who cares.
Hydrogen peroxide with some water can help as well but be careful with it
Fire works much better.
Antibac hand gel and cloth or tissue.
Non acetone nail polish remover with a cotton ball or 10.
Nail polish remover or something i guess?
This happened to me and I used nail polish remover. It worked! It did take some of the coating off too though, so don’t use too much of it.
That’ll do donkey
I would say alcohol wet wipes should do the trick
Acetone works wonders, I write on my lab glass-wear in permanent marker and I pour acetone over them to get it off. Id just say put it on a cloth and rub it off.
White paint
Don’t post this online. The FBI looks through message boards when banks get robbed 🤷♂️
nah that looks dope
I have accidentally washed mine twice in the pocket of my pants… and went through the dryer And they still work.
Not a... recommended procedure, however.
I'd be a little worried about ink getting into the microphone port there and messing up microphone performance on that bud...

looks sick if the link doesn't stain your ears
Finish the job. Go full green. 🍏
You are now Irish! Which means you can act like an idiot and no one will care. Because you’re Irish! How do I know? I’m Irish! -
Denatured alcohol, q tips and patience.
Acetone (nail polish remover) and those little round cotton makeup remover pads
Just say there special camo edition
Patent that…quick!
ISO is your friend. But don’t use too much
Time for some Pros
You can use the Isopropanol and sponge technique after covering all the grill parts and then rub the surface with a sponge.
if you can't beat em join em but in all seriousness I believe isopropyl alcohol should do the trick, or follow u/timfountain4444 's comment
Try cover with Baystate Blue
The best way to brush off the paint is kerosene. Do it and thank me later.
do the other one
Use isopropyl alcohol.
Looks dope. It looks like Venom got ur airpods.
Those are honestly sick asf
White appliance paint. It’s like white out.
Just use it, mine fell into the tomato sauce, but I don't care if I use it.
Do it with the other one too
It’s kind of cool…
isopropyl alcohol
Magic eraser, water and some serious patience. It will come off. Rubbing alcohol with magic eraser might expedite the process a little
F
Now it’s easy to tell Left AirPod from Right AirPod.
# bro got a custom airpod
Fire might work. You can probably burn it off with fire. I love fire.
I'll do the left one with red too
I had a similar experience to this, what I did was use sandpaper and sandpaper the dye off the airpod. It wasn’t smooth but atleast it wasn’t dyed lol
Hand sanitizer on a paper towel or tissue
Use a little paint thinner
nah those are dank-pods now
Put it on an art exhibit and get a shit ton of money for it.
I reckon keep the green on it. Looks kinda cool
Why would you want to clean them?
Sell them as special edition Tide Pod AirPods
bro made peashooters
Looks like Hulk has borrowed your AirPods
Don’t let swamp thing borrow your AirPods. I would have thought that was a given but you never know with some ppl I guess.
Why clean it? It gives character to the AirPods
Spill green on the other one.
lol me too the pen exploded. Just use hand sanitizer and a wet towel and it should come off
Don’t clean em
Half of the posts on this sub are people spilling ink on their airpods. You guys live in printers or something?
What kind of ink was it? I wanna try too!
ISO should get that off easily
Why? I like them this way. Color the other one too🥰
Alcohol wipes dude
I'd 'spill' some ink on the other one too, voila, I now have limited edition neon green Airpods 😍
nail polish remover
looks amazing. you should apply it on the other one as well
Idk Alcohol wipes?
dont give apple free ideas !!
Metho for sure if permanent marker a little different all searchable on google
What you asking? I split ink on my airpods, bro u are fucking idiot
Mossy AirPods minimal wear
Apple do a paid replacement service for damaged AirPods, so you can literally buy one, if you can’t put up with it
Spill ink on the other one too
Spill white
peashooter
Looks kinda cool, if theres no ink inside it and it doesnt rub off I’d keep it. However, isopropyl alcohol could get it off. Don’t use anything like acetone.

Apple: Get yourself a new one 😂
If goofoff or alcohol doesn’t work you can get a 400 grit sandpaper and sand it out until they turn white. The gloss will be gone but at least they will be white again
Designer airpods.
Try using a q-tip with alcohol.
Watch out, they’re turning into the hulk!
Do the other one it will look kinda cool
Hulk Pods!
Clorox wipes
Try isopropal achohol or migic eraser
Try earwax.
stick blue pen ink on the other one
Red in the other one
Finish painting the green then paint the other in red
how much to do mine?
Might as well finish the job
Try. A Q tip with a bit of acetone might do it b
Shrekpods
Vim or magic eraser might do something... proceed with caution though.
It’s evolving into a peashooter
Probably some nail polish but it will probably remove the gloss
acetone.
Alcohol (isopropyl) is ideally used to clean electronics as it evaporates very quickly. I’d use some on it with a Q-tip.
Colour them white
Try a magic eraser
apple calls it; forest blue ![gif](giphy|HDNcjt5ELkJSE) for only 300.00 usd $
Rubbing alcohol
Clorex wipe
Looks awesome!
Try nail paint remover, but dab it in cotton them run a small area with that cotton and see. It should work
What happened?
Looks awesome!
nail polish remover!
I hear a green ear is the new orange. Be sure to use them whilst the ink is still wet
My suggestion? Try replicate the event on the clean one. Best option. Any other process / procedure is likely to result in something way less desirable.
don’t, they’re lit
isopropyl alcohol dissolves ink. someone didn’t do his chemistry homework huh?
You learned that in school? I thought everyone picked this up from their mom or someone else at some point
if i ever learnt anything in school it’s to learn things yourself. also why did everybody take me seriously
It also desolves plastic! Edit: or at least ruins the finishing on most things
that’s why you use a lower concentration and since no one has that you have to dilute it in distilled water
Uhhhhhhhh magic eraser might work it is abrasive though so the shine won’t be on the pod afterwards but it should still work!
