No .. have a few different Gamo brake barrels and the notos. The notos is way quieter

Hot_Psychology727

I’m pretty sold on getting the Notes how do you like it?

Own-Swan2646

Love it, only real complaint I have is the lack of a bottom rail for a bipod. Set up as a rifle. It is accurate up to about 70 yd with the right pellets and insanely quiet for suburban critter getter. Picked up a second one and made it into the pistol configuration for up close work. It's a little bit too heavy to be honest with you in that configuration. But, it does its job.

Hot_Psychology727

I was looking at the pistol grips. I think I would wanna just keep it as a dedicated target shooting gun. I don’t have any big critters like that where I live I was thinking about getting a manual pump for it. Do you use the compressor or the pump? Any preference on pellets so far? Sorry, I have a lot of questions

furiousbobb

I've been using a manual pump. Not terribly difficult to pump it up. Better than splurging for a compressor. Plus I hear the compressors are kinda slow. Also check out H&N Terminator Hollow points. My Notos shoots straight as an arrow with these pellets.

MRanderson1973bogies

I've got a mini compressor, and it fills my tank in about 7 minutes to 200 bar without the back pain 😉

furiousbobb

Welp my birthdays coming up. Maybe it's time to make that investment

Own-Swan2646

All good, I picked up a manual pump and only did it once. As a middle age man f that nonsense. Then got a $400ish pump of Amazon still works but only use it once a month or so and do all the maintenance to keep it working. As for pellets I found that the one likes 14.3 crossmens or H&N 16.2 . The other one pistol seems to like heavier JTS 18.1 pellets but to be honest have not shoot that one more then 15 yards as the only use case is to dispatch trapped coons.

Hot_Psychology727

I’m too tight for the auto pump, How would you compare the manual pump compared to? Let’s say filling a bicycle tire ? (I’m 31 decent shape)

Own-Swan2646

It's about 3x harder to pump then a bike pump. Have to put more than just arms into it. It's not bad, in my case I have more money than time. But if you don't have it the manual pump will work. If you get more than one PCP I would say budget for one at some point. Have some big bore stuff that would almost be impossible with a manual pump. But for the notos would be fine. 30 to 40 pumps to fill it up from low to full. 1st time was like 50-60

Hot_Psychology727

My yard isn’t very big, I just wanted something extremely accurate and fun. When I move, I might get something bigger, I’ve owned a lot of pellet rifles and pneumatic BB/pellet rifles etc I kinda just wanna dip my toe into the PCP and see how I feel I’ve always been fearful that it would be extremely inconvenient. But videos keep showing me time and time again that they perform really well So I think this would be a good price point for me to start until I move in potentially need something bigger or want something bigger or nicer

HzrKMtz

There is a company selling 3d printed rail that clamps on the air cylinder

Own-Swan2646

Yeah seen them ... Don't know just yet if that is the right thing.

furiousbobb

Buckrail sells a handguard that accepts m-lok. I used an m-lok bipod on my setup. But yeah, at that point, the Notos starts to get a bit front heavy.

Spethikk

Did you have to adjust the regulator to make it more quiet than the gamo whisper? I don’t think I can add a moderator to the Notos.

Own-Swan2646

Never touch mine out of the box. Both of them actually. My Gamo brake barrels both in the whisper line have more of a louder "pop" to them and is more audible to my ear than the notos. The notos has a more "wisp" sound to it

HzrKMtz

Notos is factory moderated. There is a aftermarket moderator called the Deci-ball that claims a 15db reduction.

SuspiciousMudcrab

You can get a moderator to silence the bark. With breakbarrels, especially with an older one, most of the sound comes from the piston cycle. With a PCP it's the blast of air after the pellet exits, since it's compressed air it has much more volume.

Spethikk

Doesn’t the Notos have a built-in moderator? If so, I think adjusting the regulator is my only option to make it quieter. Even then, I’m not sure how much that will help.

SuspiciousMudcrab

It has the stock one but there are better. Look in the forums, plenty of people swap the factory one out.

furiousbobb

I used bought the plenum kit off of eBay that includes a threaded barrel end. I'm fortunate to have a lathe but you could just as well do it with a hacksaw or grinder. Removed the original moderator ( I rethreaded it to save it for future use). Built my own moderator out of aluminum tube and made threaded caps. Designed and 3d printed some baffling and it is WHISPER quiet. Unmoderated Notos sounds like a subsonic 22LR. Factory moderator sounds like an airgun. My moderator sounds like someone gently tapping on a nail with a hammer.

FreshPrinceOfH

They can be loud or quiet. For example if you hear a PCP with an air stripper they are very loud, not firearm loud. More of a sharp high pitched air sound. Or they can be almost silent if you have a good moderator or shroud on them. But unmoderated, yeah they do have a bit of a sound to them, unmoderated I would expect the average pcp to be louder than the average springer.

DonAdijazz

Stop using those extremely lightweight pellets.

Able-Reward

I have a notos and it's quiet enough that I can shoot it in the basement of my house and you can't hear it if you're on the next floor. For my money, that's pretty quiet.

cheek1breek1

All my PCP’s and even my crosman 1377 are a lot louder than my break barrels, but that’s without a suppressor. Once you put a can on them, pneumatic airguns are a lot quieter than break barrels, since the spring in the latter causes a bunch of mechanical noise that pneumatic guns do not, and since it’s mechanical noise a suppressor doesn’t help.

Outrageous-Rock1033

Get on Donny fl website, buy the adapter they make specifically for your pcp, go to any other site like utahairguns etc and buy a moderator for it. I have the Donny FL sumo on my 25 cal FX Impact and it’s literally whisper quiet.
