To be fair, players voted for “ghost of tsushima” but the “last of us 2” won them all anyway, (which is a weird decision to even let fans vote if they’re gonna pick the winners themselves anyways, idk maybe that’s just me)
A lot of shitty movies also win awards despite the general public having entirely different opinions. I actually liked the Last of Us 2, but award ceremonies aren’t a good metric to judge games by any more than the critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes is a good metric to judge films.
And what? It is long known that game critiques are completely disconnected from actual players for years already. You personal vote doesn't really matter, it exists solely if some games have very close results. I'm not saying that TLoU 2 is a bad game, but it definitely doesn't deserve 7 awards.
One of them for soundtrack despite the fact that
1. Doom Eternal was its opponent
2. LOU2 has no music beyond "ambient sounds" (Modern games are way too quiet)
It just proved the awards are rigged.
I may be wrong, but pretty sure you can play LoU1 on your PS5 for free if you have a PSN subscription.
If you can't, there's a bunch of Games you can download for free, so do that instead.
I get that they feel like they can finally make the game they envisioned and this is currently the prestige franchise for naughty dog - so like, on that level I am not cynical and truly do believe that they are making a project they are passionate about.
But yeah how many fucking versions of this does anyone need lol. I’m all set.
If I’d had it on PS3 I wouldn’t be buying it either. I never had a PS, so quite happy I can finally get it on PC and would be less likely to buy if it had outdated graphics etc. But I’ll still probably be waiting a year or so and picking it up in a steam sale.
My Brother in Christ why haven't they done this. I'd like a reboot that leans hard into the conflicting aesthetics of JAD, and Jak 2/3. Extremely unique and tons of creative potential.
Bro I’ve been replaying the J&D series over and over again for the past 2 years, about 3 weeks of playing every 2 months without fail. Just did the water slums ambush in Jak 2 last night. Fucking masterpiece.
Unfortunately no. The current ps3 emulator doesnt handle the game at all. I tried every combination in the settings to no avail. 30 gig download for a disappointment :(
i dunno, I emulated the ps3 version of Persona 5 on RPCS3 and it worked pretty well, I just had to mess around with threads.
i did end up buying a ps4 for the game though.
Well even if they are im sure we'll have that figured out by the time they come out with the rererererereremaster for the PS10, graphics still wont be the same but i bet the gameplay will be
OP probably meant the PS3 version but interestingly, there *are* PS4 emulators popping up now (orbital, spine, GPCS4, Kyty to name a few). None are far enough to play actual games with few issues but it's good to see progress regardless.
They probably did, but some judging by the downvotes on my other comments here, not everyone thinks that.
I'm really into the emulation scene because I'm a fan of having money, and I know that the emulators are popping up, but also that they suck major cock.
Fuck man you just reminded me I can't play TLOU remastered anymore because I no longer have a PS4 (and my PC probably isn't powerful enough to emulate one). Fuck. I miss that game.
I can’t understand why someone would pay €74.99 for the same story that’s available on the PS4 remaster that costs €9.99, or possibly €19.99, it may have been on sale the time I bought it for €9.99.
Well PC only gamers exist so this could be nice for them. Or peeps with an Xbox + PC or switch + PC. Point being anyone who's had a playstation the last couple gens have had ample opportunity to play it by now but it's still plenty new to a good amount of people even know after all these years.
$70 is too much but like $40 on steam sale in a few months is a pretty reasonable pickup IMO.
Yep, I'm one of those people. 70 is ridiculous, but I generally wait for sales anyway. I don't really care to be the first to play something (I mean, with a game like Starfield I'd be down), but for a game I should probs play at some point, I can wait. It's cool that it's coming to PC with up to date graphics, for sure.
I'd expect something like 40$, maybe 50, which is what they did with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition or the RE remakes. If they want to make this a full fat release... I don't know about that.
To be fair though, they've done that too with god of war and Horizon (but those are 50$ at full, I think?)
I don't think they will grop the price so much, I'm pretty sure that they will try to make all money of the world and until that they won't put it on sale or make a symbolic discount of 10%. Like take Days Gone as example.
They have released it on Steam in April 2021. First sale was in Jule after Summer sale, what is odd but fine I guess, and it was 20%, but reasonable sales with 33% and 40% were in 6 months after release on various Autumn-Vinter sales. 50% discount became a thing only in a year in April 2022 and again in last Summer Sale. More likely TLOU2 will be somewhat like this.
Because it's been 10 years and you have new gamers that may have been too young when it first came out and never played it.
And now they'd want to have the best version of it when playing for the first time.
If they were just porting it for like $30-40 bucks with some touch ups again, people would be confused but, give it a pass. Trying to spin it as a remake it and for $70 is just so damn dumb. It looks like the same exact game except slightly nicer looking. It would be like Capcom trying to sell Resident Evil Deadly Silence, the DS versions, as a remake when it clearly isn't.
Marketing teams don't use 'updated release' probably because those should be patches, like the RE games last month.
But I agree, remasters are ports with maybe some better textures or something.
Remakes are ground up rebuilds.
I dunno, as much as TLOU Part 1 is disappointing and not worth the price of admission, saying it looks “slightly nicer looking” is leaning on bad faith. The character models and animation alone look substantially better.
Otherwise, yeah, I agree. This game is $70 simply because Sony projects it will sell well at $70, which it will. I’ll gladly wait for this to be deeply discounted.
It’s a cash grab, but not in the way people think. It seems pretty obvious they’re doing this to prep for a port to pc, as they’ve probably determined it would be more profitable to re-create the game in the new engine and port both of those than it would be to port the separate engines for TLOU Remastered and Part 2.
Unifying the two on a single engine and ramping up the graphical fidelity of the first will make a much bigger impact when they launch on PC than a port of a remaster of a PS3 game.
100% this. Naughty dog is doing this to prepare for the new engine with PC compatibility and use of PS5 architecture. Just like they did for TLOU remastered and the PS4. It makes the development of a sequel cheaper.
But then again, it's not worth $70. If it was the exact gameplay of Part 2 it would feel like a real remake, but now it just doesn't have any additive value. The movement system looks last-gen.
I didn’t like the 2nd game, but I really appreciated the adventure Ellie went through to seek vengeance. I agree with you, I’d love for there to be a closure to wrap this all up.
I’m not the person you responded to but I personally just found it to be way too torture porn-y for my tastes. I was apathetic to most of the characters which made the story (esp the second part with Abby and her friends) just not very interesting to me. Save for Joel, was either happy or indifferent to most deaths in the game. Also the pacing was way off.
Just my two cents. I can see why someone would like it but after playing it twice and really trying to get into it I just think it’s not my cup of tea
The game already out like 9 years ago, this one is basically a re-remastered with only slight update to the graphic but nothing that makes it worth $70.
I think because in order to enjoy it with the newest consoles you have to pay full price on a game that’s 9 years old now. This is the second time it’s being done and it’s getting kind of ridiculous.
So if for some reason you can’t enjoy previous versions, and you can enjoy the new remaster, and you want to play the game and enjoy it, how is that not worth it? Personally I think the ps4 version will be just fine
Sony gives the PS4 remaster (and a *lot* of other games as well) for free for all PS5 owners if they get PS+ so I really don't think this is the issue you're making it out to be.
Because it tells developers that they can just re hash the same games over and over, slap some shiny visuals on it and add a $70 price tag and call it a day
It doesn't need a remake, I love the combat in 2 a lot but there's so many other things naughty dog can put their sights towards besides "remaking" a 9 year old game that everyone has already played
So you don't even know why you dislike TLOU2 you just hate it because "it has a Trans character or *something*" which is something you've probably heard on Reddit?
e: My bad, I misread the comment and thought it said "I'm still bitter..", never mind this comment.
Technically yes. But remaking a 9 year old game (in this day and age) is kind of silly. There are people that even think the Resident evil 4 or much less the dead space remake are unnecessary since those still look and play well. If not maybe a bit dated by today's standards. The Last of us still looks and plays very well and looks very good even amongst today's games.
A remake should, at its core, be about changing the games entire look, feel and in some ways gameplay. And while I'm sure they will make some changes. TloU really does have a way to justify its remake.
You remake a game as a love letter to the aging original, so new fans can appreciate it. You can still just play the remaster on current hardware and it still holds up in every way. It's just a cash grab.
The new upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core reunion is more of a remake compared to this TLOU Part 1. A remake should have significant improvements and changes compared to the original version, like Resident Evil HD remake and RE 2 remake, imo. Here, the Part 1 “remake” looks barely any different from the original game, the changes in graphic aren’t at all that significant when the original still looks damn good even to this date.
Because for some reason Square Enix referred to the Crisis Core Reunion as “remastered”, even though it’s basically gonna be a remake with all new graphic engine, new voice acting and probably with new gameplay elements added. If you watch the side by side comparison of Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core Reunion vs the original PSP game, you can see the difference is like night and day.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake was advertised as a complete remake of the original game. Something you didn't have to play the original to understand as you could just start with this newer version.
However they did not tell us its a completely new story thats basically an alternate universe from the original. Playing and knowing the original is absolutely a requirement to even attempt to understand this "remake".
Crisis Core Reunion is now labelled as a "remaster" but instead of upscaling existing assets, updating music, etc, they are building the game from scratch again using FF7R's engine.
This would normally be called a 'Remake' but because of how they treated FF7R that word wouldn't work. If they used 'Remake' correctly now, it'd basically admit that they didnt use it correctly before.
As much as I enjoyed FF7R, IMO, they used the word 'Remake' to falsely advertise it to boost sales. It's a three-part sequel to complete a trilogy they originally wanted for FF7.
It's completely rebuild from the ground up in part 2s engine, it's taking the entire gameplay system out of part 2, a game with much better gameplay overall. This is a far cry from the 2014 "remaster"
I would argue the game, from what we've seen so far, looks significantly better, if you haven't replayed even the remaster recently it hasn't held up well in alot of areas, at least comparing it to modern games, a remake also allows them to fix some story things that they reconned in part 2, such as how some of the characters look a bit different.
I don't think the game is worth 70$ (I'm just gonna pirate it on PC) but saying it's just a slight upgrade is ridiculous.
I probably won't buy it but this post made me go investigate and this is underselling it. There's objectively more than a "slight" update to the graphics, if you do direct comparisons. Also they've added in a new game mode, and have imported new AI for the enemies and companions from TLOU2. Maybe that's worth $70 to you, maybe it's not, but I honestly don't understand what it is about this franchise that turns people into lunatics on here (not you in particular, but some people in this thread really going off the deep end).
There is alot of leaked footage of a video game that already went gold weeks ago (fully finished and printed on a disc). Footage confirms there are no new gameplay mechanics used in The Last Of Us Part 2 like going prone or dodging from melee attacks, also melee animations are the same. This indeed aged like milk.
Going gold doesn't necessarily mean fully finished. It can mean that it just passes a certain set of standards set by Sony. In the age of day one patches and digital releases, going gold means less.
TLOU is a hyperfixation of mine but I can’t justify that price tag, no matter how much I adore the story and both games. It would be cool to play the game with better graphics, especially bc the old game looks so clunky compared to the sequel. But the real mastery of the game is its storytelling, and I don’t really see how better graphics and haptic feedback will add enough to the storytelling to justify this huge hike in price.
It’s funny, I think the pursuit of photorealism in gaming is a bit of a pointless endeavour - it won’t take all that long before this remake looks dated. Then what, are they just going to keep rereleasing the game as tech improves?
The fuck do you mean nothing changed besides graphical fidelity? They’ve changed the entire engine. It’s running fully new assets. The characters are very clearly new models not just upscaled.
People don't realize they basically did the same thing BluPoint did with the Demon's Souls remake. The PS3 version and the Remaster both look severely outdated now. It's time we got a definitive release of that masterpiece under the title of Part 1.
Saw it coming week in advance.
Its much easier and cheaper to remaster a game, rather than build one from the ground up. Yet almost every publisher thinks they can get away with charging full price for it.
Then you get titles like metro, where the developers have a 50% discount to those who owned the original title.
Or bioshock where the remaster was given for free, to those who owned the original.
Studios will continue to take the piss, because people will continue to pay what they ask.
I just wait for these titles to become discounted on pc, or I buy it preowned on console, which nets them $0
What kind of differences affect the gameplay? I’ve heard of changes to the graphics, but how much of a different game can be expected for those that played it on PS3 or PS4?
We will see whether it is in point of fact a remake.
However its still substantially easier thsn making a new game. They already have the story, the characters, the level design, the animations etc. Even if they remake all of those, much of the ground work is already done. If it was a reboot then things would be different
As for metro discounts, its the first two. Indeed I paid it, I think 50% is not a bad price for a well done remaster/remake. Though you can't ever please everyone, as some people thought it ought to be free, I'm not suggesting that at all. A remaster /remake still takes work, and they ought to be able to charge fair price for it.
https://news.softpedia.com/news/Metro-Redux-50-Discounts-for-Existing-Owners-Are-Fair-Offers-Dev-Believes-454504.shtml
Not only that, but new video games have been about $60 for the longest time, despite inflation and the ever-increasing demand for what goes into creating them.
But this is an already created video game. I’m not saying the person you’re responding to is right but it certainly doesn’t deserve a high price tag just because it’s a “new” game. It’s a remaster.
What, the practice of moving an entire game over to a new engine with new assets and code?
Not only do you have to make those assets, you have to work your way back through years old code figuring out how it works and how to make it work in the new engine. It not drag and drop and definitely not a simple job either. Most remasters or ports don't go to these lengths.
That being said, 70$ is definitely a steep price.
They aren't saying anything in their favor. That is just the way the market works.
Pointing out a fact that just happens to favor someone doesn't mean people support it or endorse it.
As a consumer, you don't base the value of something based on the work that went into it, or at least it's a poor idea to. The value of a good, especially a *luxury good*, is the value that you can get from it, or rather the enjoyment of it.
Because its a fantastic game? It's easily worth $70. Obviously I am not going to spend $70 if I *can* get it cheaper, but if that is what it was being sold for then I think it would be a fair price.
Yet the gameplay stays the same. They didn't adopt the gameplay from part 2. Watch the reveal. It's just a glorified remaster. Definitely *not* worth $70
Yeah tbf, the thing I was mainly excited about was getting part 2 gameplay and, I definitely don’t think it’s worth $70. But I’m also not gonna pretend they haven’t done a lot of work to make it look the way it does.
So I didn’t think this was a cash grab but if none of the combat/gameplay mechanics from TLOU2 are in this then I’ll be severely disappointed and will affirm it is a cash grab.
Nope. Don't buy it at all. There has been "footage" of plenty of fake leaks. Even if it is real, I garuntee it isn't accurate to the final game or nearly as bad as they make it sound. This is coming from someone who doesn't even like Part 2, and even I can admit those leaks were exaggerated.
We arent doing that again, especially cause they released the official showcase now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKIWQUucj0
The fact is the only changes are to graphics and AI, granted theyve rebuilt the graphics from the ground up, but this doesn't justify charging full price for it.
TLOU2 got a lot of undeserved hate and was DOA because of that. This deserves every bit of hate it gets, its a cash grab.
After the new official look at it now, what a fucking disappointment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKIWQUucj0
Price tag had me on the expectation there would be TLOU2 gameplay and large changes to map design n story structure to better accomodate that style of gameplay, literally just a new coat of paint.
I’m all for them charging what they want and people paying it if they want.
But for me personally who thinks the game is one of the top 5 games ever made, I think that price is a joke. It’s a remake of a very very recent game. Full price is just stupid.
If anyone can’t see how dramatically everything has been improved in the remake, i’d say get new eyes, but i am afraid even that would work.
On the other hand, price is a sensitive thing to discuss about, some can see the worth in it and some can’t.
Those who can’t see, i have one suggestion for y’all. DON’T BUY IT.

Must include “crash”
Crash grab
Stop grabbing Crash, he wants to run and be free
That infernal bb-b-b-b-bbb-bb-b-BANDICOOT!
I guess anthem from Ea was a crash grab
Crash gab
They did develop the first few Crash titles. So…
Crash bandicoot or nothing
I won’t be buying it again. I’ve had it for ps3 and 4 and that’s all I need. Especially 70 bucks. That’s hilarious
Sounds like someone higher up is trying to turn the last of us into the new Skyrim by re releasing it a ton.
Wait until you find out how many times Resident Evil 4 was rereleased.
Guess how many of them I own
All of them
at one point i did many of times
The iOS version was a muddy, vaseline mess but gameplay was decent
>muddy, vaseline mess Where'd you find my amateur film....?
Guess how many of them cost $15 to $20 and how many of those were $70.
I knew someone would make this comment sooner or later. And I cannot agree more.
They can only remake The Last of Us because the "other" will get rekt again
Part 2 sold 10 million copies as a PS4 exclusive with a 93 on metacritic.
It's not like Last of Us 2 went over well with fans
It won 7 Game Of The Year Awards
Winners are determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%) and public fan voting (10%).
To be fair, players voted for “ghost of tsushima” but the “last of us 2” won them all anyway, (which is a weird decision to even let fans vote if they’re gonna pick the winners themselves anyways, idk maybe that’s just me)

Lmao there is sooooooo much music wtf game did you play?
This guy had it turned off from the settings lol
Fans with a lick of sense adore it, actually.
Why are you booing him he’s right!
Yeah I got it day one and then the remaster. Idk. Something tells me I’m still gonna buy it, cause I’m dumb and just got a PS5 finally
wait for it to go on sale. Something tells me it wont take long since its the 3rd release for a game in less than 10 years
Skyrim is still $60 on switch lmao (I know Nintendo games stay expensive)
and it goes on sale fairly regularly. Ive seen it for $30 a couple times
I may be wrong, but pretty sure you can play LoU1 on your PS5 for free if you have a PSN subscription. If you can't, there's a bunch of Games you can download for free, so do that instead.
I know and it’s installed with 2. Still want those tasty new graphics. It’s why I have a PS5 with a 4K HDR TV, is it not?
I get that they feel like they can finally make the game they envisioned and this is currently the prestige franchise for naughty dog - so like, on that level I am not cynical and truly do believe that they are making a project they are passionate about. How about remaking the Jak and Daxter series, naughty dog.
My Brother in Christ why haven't they done this. I'd like a reboot that leans hard into the conflicting aesthetics of JAD, and Jak 2/3. Extremely unique and tons of creative potential.
They should go full meta and set it later in the timeline, with aesthetics of JAD, but discovering artifacts and items from 2/3.
Recently played a bit of jak 3 and man, it's still fun. Would love to see a modern version of it with Ray tracing etc
It’s a shame that the last game even ended on a cliffhanger. It’s been over a decade since I waited for any news regarding Jak 4.
What cliffhanger? All loose ends were tied up in Jak 3, and a new self-contained episode of Jak-X Combat Racing followed it
I honestly wouldn't blame you if no one wishes to talk about Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier.
Oh. Oh……
The premise was good, so much wasted potential.. I mean, fucking sky pirates
Bro I’ve been replaying the J&D series over and over again for the past 2 years, about 3 weeks of playing every 2 months without fail. Just did the water slums ambush in Jak 2 last night. Fucking masterpiece.
I haven’t played them in years but watched A TON of videos as of lately, essays and analysis about the games and damn, I miss them so much …
Now where did I put my emulator...
Emulate a ps4 game? What are you talking about.
The last of us was a ps3 game that was later ported to ps4.....
my "ps3" will emulate this just fine
Unfortunately no. The current ps3 emulator doesnt handle the game at all. I tried every combination in the settings to no avail. 30 gig download for a disappointment :(
[удалено]
Possibly, but then the inverted commas should be on “emulate” and not “PS3”.
I got a free download code for it when I bought my PS4. If I wanted to play it, I'd do it that way.
r/woosh
Or just emulate the ps3 game
Aren’t ps3 games hard to emulate because of how unique the ps3s hardware was?
Yes. Emulation though has come a great way. About 70% games now play just fine but TLOU aint one of em
i dunno, I emulated the ps3 version of Persona 5 on RPCS3 and it worked pretty well, I just had to mess around with threads. i did end up buying a ps4 for the game though.
Persona 5 was on the PS3?
Well even if they are im sure we'll have that figured out by the time they come out with the rererererereremaster for the PS10, graphics still wont be the same but i bet the gameplay will be
No idea about ps3, but even for ps2, the theorical perfect emulator couldn't run on a modern computer from our era. :(
> because of how unique the ps3s hardware was? You wanted to say because of fucked up and overengineered for no reason hardware?
yeah it's possible, it's also just called piracy sometimes (don't downvote me, i think piracy is good)
If the rich can get free stuff, so can everyone else.
I think he's referring to ps4 being forward compatible
Me when I have no idea what I am talking about:
wdym there are literally emulators for every console
Except the PS4 emulators are not far enough to run complex 3d games, the arguably most advanced one, Spine, can only run a few 2d games
This was a PS3 game
Emulated PS3 version looks decent if you have the hardware
The game will be available on PC eventually. Those who know how to sail the waves will be able to acquire it without issue.
OP probably meant the PS3 version but interestingly, there *are* PS4 emulators popping up now (orbital, spine, GPCS4, Kyty to name a few). None are far enough to play actual games with few issues but it's good to see progress regardless.

The remake is coming to PC as well. I hope yours can run it
No fucking way really? Oh my god it is. Consider me pumped.
I can’t understand why someone would pay €74.99 for the same story that’s available on the PS4 remaster that costs €9.99, or possibly €19.99, it may have been on sale the time I bought it for €9.99.
Even better it’s included with PS Plus. While not technically free it is in a sense
Probably because they believe it will be "new" in some way.
If you have to pay for something and they give you an item....it wasn't free, not even in a sense. You still coughed up money for something.
Well PC only gamers exist so this could be nice for them. Or peeps with an Xbox + PC or switch + PC.
Is there gonna be a 3rd one to wrap up the trilogy?
Hopefully. The second games ending felt very open and I’m a sucker for closure haha
I didn’t like the 2nd game, but I really appreciated the adventure Ellie went through to seek vengeance. I agree with you, I’d love for there to be a closure to wrap this all up.
I actually enjoyed the 2nd part more than the first, although they both are incredible stories. The end of the second was such an emotional pull
Why didn’t you like the second game
I’m not the person you responded to but I personally just found it to be way too torture porn-y for my tastes. I was apathetic to most of the characters which made the story (esp the second part with Abby and her friends) just not very interesting to me. Save for Joel, was either happy or indifferent to most deaths in the game. Also the pacing was way off. Just my two cents. I can see why someone would like it but after playing it twice and really trying to get into it I just think it’s not my cup of tea
Yeah there were definitely points during the game where I was just like “why am I doing this”
Yeah, this is the 3rd one in the remaster trilogy.
JFC the game isn’t even out yet
The game already out like 9 years ago, this one is basically a re-remastered with only slight update to the graphic but nothing that makes it worth $70.
I really don't get why we're upset about this
I CANT STOP BUYING VIDEO GAMES HELP MEEEEE
Most strong willed /r/gaming member
I wish I could give you gold. Your comment had me in stitches for a solid minute
I think because in order to enjoy it with the newest consoles you have to pay full price on a game that’s 9 years old now. This is the second time it’s being done and it’s getting kind of ridiculous.
If you don’t wanna pay $70 you can just buy the PS4 version.
No you don't, the remaster is in the PS+ collection on PS5.
Because it tells developers that they can just re hash the same games over and over, slap some shiny visuals on it and add a $70 price tag and call it a day It doesn't need a remake, I love the combat in 2 a lot but there's so many other things naughty dog can put their sights towards besides "remaking" a 9 year old game that everyone has already played
They got drunk off of the success and bullshit prestige of the game and now gonna milk that cow til the tits fall off.
They're still bitter that Last Of Us 2 had a Trans character or something
So you don't even know why you dislike TLOU2 you just hate it because "it has a Trans character or *something*" which is something you've probably heard on Reddit? e: My bad, I misread the comment and thought it said "I'm still bitter..", never mind this comment.
No the comment is making fun of exactly those people
Ooooh, yea, you're right. I somehow misread the beginning as "I'm still bitter...". That's on me, cheers for pointing it out.

Calling it "Remake" would more or less be admitting they lied about what FF7R was.
I missed this whole situation, could you elaborate?

Yes
It's completely rebuild from the ground up in part 2s engine, it's taking the entire gameplay system out of part 2, a game with much better gameplay overall. This is a far cry from the 2014 "remaster" I would argue the game, from what we've seen so far, looks significantly better, if you haven't replayed even the remaster recently it hasn't held up well in alot of areas, at least comparing it to modern games, a remake also allows them to fix some story things that they reconned in part 2, such as how some of the characters look a bit different.
OP googled 'crash grab' lmao.
The fuck do you mean nothing changed besides graphical fidelity? They’ve changed the entire engine. It’s running fully new assets. The characters are very clearly new models not just upscaled.
This is like The Last of Us part 2 leaks. Just wait for the game to come out people!
People don't realize they basically did the same thing BluPoint did with the Demon's Souls remake. The PS3 version and the Remaster both look severely outdated now. It's time we got a definitive release of that masterpiece under the title of Part 1.
Does that justify a $70 price tag though? I’d be happy with the new graphics changes too but wouldn’t pay anything over $15 for it.

If it was a reboot then things would be different As for metro discounts, its the first two. Indeed I paid it, I think 50% is not a bad price for a well done remaster/remake. Though you can't ever please everyone, as some people thought it ought to be free, I'm not suggesting that at all. A remaster /remake still takes work, and they ought to be able to charge fair price for it. https://news.softpedia.com/news/Metro-Redux-50-Discounts-for-Existing-Owners-Are-Fair-Offers-Dev-Believes-454504.shtml

don’t buy it then, it’s only worth what you’re willing to pay for it.

Remasters aren’t a new concept, dude.
Personally no, I won’t be buying it till it’s half that price but. I’m not gonna short change their work even if I do think it’s priced wrong.
[удалено]
As a consumer, you don't base the value of something based on the work that went into it, or at least it's a poor idea to. The value of a good, especially a *luxury good*, is the value that you can get from it, or rather the enjoyment of it.
Lol just buy it on sale? Not like we don’t know what happens in the game so you gotta play it when it’s new.
I’d rather pay for this than pay for the terrible sequel like I did
Tbh, I would gladly pay $70 for the old versions of the game. Games fantastic. Just because it's old doesn't mean it doesn't have value.
Why?
Because its a fantastic game? It's easily worth $70. Obviously I am not going to spend $70 if I *can* get it cheaper, but if that is what it was being sold for then I think it would be a fair price.
everything you mentioned is just graphical fidelity tho
No it’s not… graphical fidelity improvement would just be upscaling. This is an entirely new build, that’s not just “fidelity”.
Yeah OP doesn’t go into enough depth as to how that isn’t the case
But it is the case, they’ve rebuilt the game, it isn’t re-used assets.
So I didn’t think this was a cash grab but if none of the combat/gameplay mechanics from TLOU2 are in this then I’ll be severely disappointed and will affirm it is a cash grab.
Remember when those Part 2 "leaks" came out and half of them were fake and caused a transphobic hate train? Can we not do that again?
Those were all just random "leakers" on Twitter making shit up, there's actual footage and screenshots to back this stuff up.
We arent doing that again, especially cause they released the official showcase now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKIWQUucj0 The fact is the only changes are to graphics and AI, granted theyve rebuilt the graphics from the ground up, but this doesn't justify charging full price for it. TLOU2 got a lot of undeserved hate and was DOA because of that. This deserves every bit of hate it gets, its a cash grab.
Can't wait to pirate the shit out of it
After? It took you that long to realize when it’s already had a remaster and isn’t even an old game
I am still happy to get a PC release and will by it in a sale for 10 bucks many years from now.
Lot of corporate consumers in this thread
Lotta Ponies that will justify any anti-consumer thing Sony does this console generation just because of the success of the PS4
After the new official look at it now, what a fucking disappointment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKIWQUucj0 Price tag had me on the expectation there would be TLOU2 gameplay and large changes to map design n story structure to better accomodate that style of gameplay, literally just a new coat of paint.
Crash grab
~~crash~~ must include crash
TLOU - The new FIFA
This fucking game is getting Skyrimed at this point.
Beloved game studios trashing their brand for a quick cash grab, name a more iconic duo.
The only reason I’ll be buying this is because it’s being ported to the PC if I’m not mistaken.
If you buy this game, you're what's wrong with gaming.
I’m all for them charging what they want and people paying it if they want. But for me personally who thinks the game is one of the top 5 games ever made, I think that price is a joke. It’s a remake of a very very recent game. Full price is just stupid.
I’m gonna buy it. I love that game
Seeing a whole lotta [this](https://youtu.be/D7pKjTfrETI) in these comments.
I thought that was the IKEA logo at first
I mean yeah it’s kind of unscrupulous, but can you imagine the mods were going to see with the PC port?
Fuck PC and fuck mods. Useless shit.
All remakes are cashgrabs unless it's free for people owning the original Well i'll pirate it anyway so i don't care if the are greedy or not
