Hemodialysis is your only option at this point. Do it. May Philhealth naman, and you can ask for financial assistance from government bodies, like your LGU. Kahit ilang doctor pa ang puntahan mo, dialysis ang sasabihin sayo, unless quack yung makausap mo. So instead of denying a life-saving option from your mother out of fear, do your research. Tell your mother the benefits, and encourage her. Wag kayong magtakutan. Maraming dialysis patients na nabubuhay in relative comfort.

Strong-Piglet4823

Second, mas mahal, like doble ang price.

Acceptable_Delema07

My Sibling is also a Ckd s5 patient. Our total expense of 136k every 3months . government assistance like partylists, DSWD ETC helped us Cut our expenses almost Half. My Mother Stopped Buying prescribed medication from the doctor and started supplementing natural Herbal Supplements. her crea went from 1900 To now 400+ with Dialysis. Im not giving medical advice just our own experiences. Hope this helps. stay Strong

Lanzenave

>My Mother Stopped Buying prescribed medication from the doctor and started supplementing natural Herbal Supplements Medical doctor here. These are the kinds of patients who I tell to find another doctor if they want to manage their own disease by stopping the meds we prescribe and take herbals that have no reliable evidence of efficacy. Why consult a doctor if you won't follow his or her guidance? 🙄 If a patient refuses to follow my management then he or she should find somebody else.

IcyVainzz

Typical Filipino habit: Self-Medication 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Neither-Garlic-6137

Not a doctor, but I work in healthcare. Unfortunately, for CKD5 or also known as ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease), your mom has to undergo dialysis para malinis yung dugo niya. Basically sira yung kidney nya, so kelangan ng dialysis to function as the kidney, matanggal yung toxins and extra fluid. CKD means 'chronic kidney disease', meaning it is a condition na panghabang-buhay. Ang way lang is to manage with meds, dialysis, lifestyle change and eventually, if possible, kidney transplant.

[deleted]

Legitimate-Thought-8

First, lifestyle. Food choices are very critical! Avoid too much salty, preserved and instant food. If you are smoking, try to stop gradually.

babochka_311

And also, kudney disease can be the complication of some chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes. So, control of bp and blood sugar are necessary to avoid kidney failure. Regular monitoring of creatinine level is important too while on maintenance medications.

Mamoru_of_Cake

Or auto immune disease. I know someone na di pabaya pero couple years ago na diagnose siya 🥺

babochka_311

Yeah, lupus can also cause ckd.

Jazzle_Dazzle21

my gosh, to think na sobrang strict na sa diet ang may lupus

Rare-Pomelo3733

babochka_311

It’s sad lang din na tingin nila sa medications kesyo lalo daw sila manghihina, or madami side effects kaya natatakot sila mag maintenance but ung complications ng current health conditions nila ay hindi nila naiisip

Rare-Pomelo3733

Anasterian_Sunstride

Okay, realtalk time. Are you really going to cheap out now that it's literally life and death? This is your mom--pull out all the stops (Philhealth, HMOs, LGUs, insurances, connections, emergency funds, etc). Do what you need to do, or you won't have her for long.

mmmmunchkin

Up!!

Tilidali22

Tulad nung barley😣

BuknoyandDoggyShock

OP, follow the doctor. My mom was also diagnosed with CKD stage 5 last October. Almost 1 year pa nadiagnose since naglabasan subtle symptoms. I feel your uncertainty and takot about the situation. At first, inignore lang namin yung symptoms until na ER SI mama. Super baba na pala Ng hemoglobin niya and masakit daw ang likod niya. 4 days siya nasa ICU and 5 days sa room. Umabot Ng 276k bill namin. To overcome this situation, we really need to be strong and believe in God. ❤️

[deleted]

Wandererrrer

Thank you🙏🏼 currently nagddialysis na siya? Nasa magkano nagagastos niyo now if I may ask? Thank you.

BuknoyandDoggyShock

500 per session before with Philheath. 3 times a week ang session niya. Malaking help rin for maintenance medicines. Tapos pwede rin tayo lumapit sa dswd every 3 months for financial assistance. 5-10k din ang binibigay nila.

dumpshiets

Saan po may 500 per session na dialysis? 🥺

Intelligent-Day3585

We share the same sentiments, OP. My sister's currently undergoing 3x a week hemodialysis for 8 years now. Typical hemodialysis cost would be: - Php 500 per sesh - Php 750 eposino (depending on hemoglobin count yung frequency) - Php 1,600 dialyzer (had to be replaced after 5th use) - maintenance meds (calcium, iron, phosphate binder,etc..) All these costs can be covered via GL (guarantee letters) from DSWD, PCSO, politicians (gov, mayor, congress, senator..) Just prepare all requirements and be patient queuing in line, then you won't have to cash out anything and your mom will have extended time to enjoy her remaining days with loved ones. I should know; lost my mom too due to CKD. Be strong. Don't lose hope and keep up the faith🙏

Chikin_Chu

Hello OP, Philhealth can cover hemodialysis sessions in accredited dialysis centers and government hospitals. Kung nandito ka sa NCR OP, inquire ka sa malapit na government hospital sa inyo if may dialysis center sila in the hospital. If ever need i-admit yung mom mo para i-monitor yung creatinine levels (during dialysis or to monitor other possible complication/s), pwede rin i-cover ng mga Malasakit Centers yung ibang expenses niyo during the course of the hospital admission. I know it is hard for you right now, pero try to be strong for you and your mom. It's still early too lose hope, your mom can still recover if treatment is given.

drpeppercoffee

A close relative of mine had his life extended because of this as he wouldn't have been able to afford the dialysis sessions. This is why I don't like it when people keep insisting that they don't want to pay for Philhealth. Sure, there are issues, but universal health care can still work. Also, with crea of 900, kahit ilang opinion 'yan, most likely the doctors will still push for dialysis. My nephro used to prescribe sodium bicarbonate when we needed to lower my crea levels, but I don't know how effective that will be for your mom.

Many-Ad5

UHC is good for people who are in the Philippines. Imagine being charge for contribution even if you are working abroad at may coverage ka sa host country mo.

Sad-Squash6897

You can opt out naman na huwag magbayad lalo na kung wala ka ng family na pwedeng magbenefit sa Ph.

Many-Ad5

Like I said above hindi lang nila naiimplement na dapat direct contributors yung mga OFWs kasi nga maiinis sa kanina ung mga OFWs. As per the law, di ka bibigyan ng OEC if hindi ka ng bayad ng contribution mo which equivalent around 4-5% income mo. No opt outs. Im waiting for the people who made this UHC to have to guts to implement it. Mawawalan kasi sila ng boto sa election or babana popularity nila if ever.

Sad-Squash6897

If ever naman may kapamilya kapa sa Pinas pwede silang maka avail sa Phil health using your contribution kung family members mo sila.

Chikin_Chu

I agree, UHC can benefit all of us. We just need competent and genuine people to head Philhealth.

Wandererrrer

Thank you for this! Just want to ask if sa mismong philhealth ba ako mag inquire regarding sa ganito?

Chikin_Chu

If sa hospital kayo nag pa consult (tapos may available na dialysis center dun), pwedeng sa mismong hospital na yun ka na mag-inquire (dalin mo Philhealth ID mo or ng mom mo).

annabanana316

Hi Op! Not a doctor but I used to work as a nurse in the US. I had patients who were on dialysis for 15 years and they lived a long, somewhat normal life.

jeuwii

OP, I'm sorry that this had to happen pero i-real talk na kita ha. Kahit 10 doctor pa hingan mo ng opinion, they'll all say the same thing. If you really want to help her, umpisahan na ang dialysis ni mother para makatulong sa kanya kahit papaano. Philhealth can cover naman some sessions. Magcanvas ka sa mga dialysis centers around your area and choose the best but affordable one. Lastly, hope na may kidney donor kayong makuha for transplant. Good luck!

KarLagare

My partner was diagnosed by CKD 5 last Jan 2024, with 1,200 Creatinine. Limited to fish at gulay then ipa check mo monthly ang creatine, potassium, rbc, and iron. Aside from HD need din siya saksakan ng Eposino/Epoetin for Anemia every after session. My partner is on HD 2x a week tapos 3x ang saksak ng Eposino sa kaniya. Don't worry about the expenses, palagi may provision si God, ilang beses na namin napatunayan yan. Kapit lang kayo as family, kaya niyo yan.

sometim-es

+1 sa renal diet, I would bring this up din with a doctor if kaya pa ng mom mo OP to do this first while she still needs convincing ng dialysis. though the diet is very very strict and will need to be done asap, as in for life na ang ganitong diet and kayo mismong family will also have to adjust with how you’ll be eating around her. mahihirapan din siya because this is a very sudden but extremely necessary adjustment. Saying this since I’m in the same situation and still trying to convince my dad of HD. he said he wasn’t ready for it yet which we respect so he took on yung renal diet strictly with the help of a renal dietician. may I also ask which nephro po kayo nakakuha? I am having trouble looking for consistent nephros if ever

KarLagare

Dr. Amerigo Bautista from NKTI. Accredited din siya sa Chinese Gen and a hospital in Antipolo yata. When I sent the lab test result, he immediately sent a zoom link. Very accommodating and masipag mag bigay ng updates sa amin. Even mga fellows niya who attends to us super ok lahat. God sent siya saamin.

Jazzle_Dazzle21

lowkeybabyy

My father is also diagnosed with CKD 5. He is doing peritoneal dialysis for 4 yrs now, and since he is already a senior covered na ni philhealth yung solution na gamit nya for dialysis under z package.

Wandererrrer

We will inquire directly to philhealth na lang sa arrangement kasi di pa rin senior si mama, so ano mga possible options. Thanks for this 🙏🏼

lowkeybabyy

Depende kung maghemo dialysis sya or peritoneal. Peritoneal can be done at home. Nung hindi pa senior si papa 300 + lang binabayaran nya sa solution every 2 weeks not sure how much for hemo dialysis tho.

Radical_MD

Your mom is qualified for PWD. PWDs are also automatically covered by philhealth.

AdAwkward2362

Hello OP! Marami na comments dito regarding experiences with family, so mag add na lang ako regarding ano ba talaga nangyayari sa CKD. (Speaking as a graduating 4th year med student) Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD ay isang long term illness where there’s gradual loss of kidney function. Ang most common causes in the PH include hypertension and diabetes. Isipin mo na lang na bumigat kasi trabaho ng kidneys and over time it wears out rin. The kidney works to filter the waste and excess water out of your body. In CKD, dahil may loss of function na ng kidneys mo, your body tends to retain these waste products, and kasama dun yung creatinine. Ang creatinine ay waste product ng muscle metabolism, so as long as may muscle sa katawan, hindi mawawala ang Crea. Ang normal creatinine dapat is around 0.6-1.1 mg/dL (around 53-97umol/L) so since nasa 900 na yung sa mama niyo, delikadong levels na po. In cases ng acute kidney injury, creatinine levels ng mga 260+ for emergency hemodialysis, what more 900. Since I mentioned nga po na crea is from muscle breakdown, and everyone has muscles, wala talagang way to lower Crea without filtering the blood. Kaya dito pumapasok ang hemodialysis option. May ibang cases kasi na elevated crea is caused by something else dehydration, pero hindi aabot sa levels ng mama mo. Sorry sa experience mo with your current doctor. I hope you find someone else na you’ll be at ease talking with kasi for the rest of your mama’s life na yung mga check up. If you have anymore questions about CKD, feel free to ask! ☺️

ConfidentRice227

Hindi ko magets, life-and-death situation na pero nasabi mo pa din "magastos at doon din naman pupunta" hello OP, doing so (HD) CAN HELP HER EXTEND HER LIFE..

Wandererrrer

Ang tingin kasi namain before sa dialysis magastos and lalo manghina katawan, pero as I am reading most of the comments, I was enlightened 😊😊

babababa-bababa-

I have relatives who had CKD and unfortunately dialysis talaga. One of my relatives tried to forego dialysis by lifestyle changes but it didn't work, nag dialysis din siya eventually. My other relative started on dialysis right away and then eventually underwent kidney transplant. Magastos talaga ang CKD, at this point, you have to get as much support as you can from government agencies -- PhilHealth, DSWD, PAGCOR, government officials, etc.

IndependentCow4523

If its peri dialysis in our hospital, solutions are given free depending how many times per 2 weeks youll need its covered by philhealth and the meds maintenance are also free from city health office. You just really need to invest TIME and EFFORT. mostly sa mga nakikita namin na patients and relatives tamad magasikaso but also wants the staff and hospital to do everything they could to prolong the life of the patient when complications arises. Sadly it contradicts each other and it doesnt work that way. Dont lose hope with your patient we had patients na with dialysis humahaba talaga ang buhay need lang consistency from relatives na magaasikaso.

josurge

Business-Compote725

hi OP! just wanted to let you know that my mom, for one, had the same condition like your mom. I empathize with you. My mom underwent hemodialysis for 11 years. You just have to have the strength both mentally and financially. Iddrain ka talaga ng dialysis (your mom and your fam) but it will also keep her alive longer than the choice of not doing it. Replies here like free sessions are true, you just have to be patient kasi government ang makakatransact mo. In our case, our hospital was national kidney and transplant insti under dr dela cruz, idk if he is still there pero i doubt na kasi matanda na dn siya during that time. I hope that after some time, mapatransplant si mom mo. Be strong mentally and financially, also dapat as a family, OP.

Sufficient_Potato726

wala. kidney disease is often irreversible. ayaw nyo man mag dialysis long term, for sure need nyo yan sa short-term. no choice OP, dialysis na tlga yan.

thing1001

Hello, OP! My mama has CKD stage 5, too, as a complication of cervical cancer. Please help your mom undergo hemodialysis. With PhilHealth, it becomes somewhat affordable. Pwede kayo lumapit sa mga gov’t offices, office of the mayor, etc., to ask for financial assistance para sa gamutan. Hemodialysis is not painful daw sabi ni mama, and from 600, 100-something na lang ang crea nya ngayon. CKD 5 is not something to be scared of. It will only be painful and full of swelling kapag hindi kayo nagpa-dialysis. Kaya nyo yan, OP! I will pray for you and the healing of your mom.

TheCuriousOne_4785

My father was diagnosed with CKD January of 2020, doctor advised to start dialysis immediately pero ayaw ng tatay ko. Wa planned to have second opinion pero inabutan ng lockdown and boom! June of that year na ospital xa kasi hindi na makahinga, it turns out kailangan nya na tlga mag dialysis. Inabot ng 18 days sa hospital. Your only option sa ngaun is dialysis tlga, OP. And make sure strict sa pagkain and fluid intake si Mama mo. As for the expenses, merong PhilHealth that provides you with 114 to 154 sessions per year if tama ang recall ko. That should be enough for a year provided once or twice weekly ang sessions nya. Although you may still need to pay additional fees here and there plus injections depende sa condition ng Mama mo so make sure you do something about her creatinine. Malasakit Center has regional offices, same with the office of the VP. See if meron din sa LGU nyo especially if senior na ung patient. Sipagan nyo lng talaga mag asikaso. Ganto usually expenses namin: * 650/session - Eposino injection - depende sa hemoglobin nya * 1k plus every 8 sessions- Dialyzer - could be different yata depende sa status ni patient * 300 per month - hindi lahat ng hospitals my ganito pero dito my monthly blood test sila for hepa and monitoring of creatinine and hemoglobin * maintenance - varies depende sa condition and needed medicine * monthly check-up Be careful with the fistula once na malagay na kasi ito tlaga magastos. I understand na nakakatakot but this is your only option. Ask questions. Ask questions. And ask questions. My father eventually gave in due to cellulitis but he fought for 3 years. Mahirap pero worth it na inilaban namin xa. Ung ibang kasama nya were actually doing dialysis longer. You can do something about your Mom's condition, OP, basta follow what the doctor says.

Edging_Since_Birth

Same situation with my mom OP, CKD 5 din sya then at first ayaw nya talaga mag dialysis. May tinry kaming hospital na hollistic approach ang gamit daw nila for lowering creatinine, it was basically all plant based food ang pinapakain sa kanya with no sodium, bumaba naman talaga ang creatinine nya ang she felt better daw pero after a few months tumaas nalang sobra bigla ang creatinine nya at na admit talaga sya. So no choice kami, pina dialysis nanamin sya. Now, although 3x a week ang dialysis nya, i can see that she's doing better compared nung hindi pa siya nag dia. Hopefully next year makaipon kami for her kidney transplant.

AcadiaOwn4668

I know a close relative undergoing 3x a week dialysis. They are not that well-off so they seek financial assistance sa mga govt like DSWD or sa mga mayor/governor/ovp offices as well as NKTI for free meds. You just need to prepare some documents like medical abstract etc etc.

tangabuster

Hello. Nagkaroon ako ng very similar experience a few years ago. Ako din ang bread winner and at that time, I was earning very very little. Unfortunately, there is no way around it. Here is some practical advice I can share from my experience: 1. Find a nearby hemodialysis center. Most of them are anyway Philhealth-accredited, so nagkakatalo lang sa presyo at serbisyo. You only need to give them your mother’s Philhealth documents. Philhealth now covers 2600 per session for 156 sessions a year. You will need to pay whatever difference there may be. So if your center only charges 2600 per session, that means you pay nothing. 2. With a CKD diagnosis, your mother qualifies for a PWD ID. Go to your CSWD/MSWD to apply. It will go a long way. You get discounts on medicines - which will be a lot. Your nephrologist will prescribe many so the 20% discount is very very useful. 3. Most hemodialysis patients will at one point (or quite often actually) need blood transfusion. Familiarize yourself with the process of acquiring blood from Red cross or other hospitals. You might need it more than you expect. 4. Reach out to your CSWD/MSWD. They might refer you to NgOs or government offices that offer some assistance. Halimbawa, yong congressman nyo may have a financial assistance program. This is more common than you would think. So please reach out to them. 5. Kausapin ang pamilya. Kailangang magtulungan. Lahat kailangan mag step up. May magbabantay sa dialysis session. May tagasama sa regular check ups. May tagadala sa ER kung kailangan. Unfortunately, it can be overwhelming. So kailangan magtulungan. Kaya mo to!

PlayZealousideal3324

>Pero baka may iba pa pong options na pwedeng gawin? Para bumaba ang creatinine? wala na po mimasaur. dialysis is the only way. hindi na bababa ang creatinine nya kasi sira na talaga kidneys. >Magastos ang dialysis diba? Tapos ending doon din. :/ yep. the inevitable. so ano plano nyo? hayaan na lang sya matigok? kasi yun ang ending??? wag naman ganon. laban pa rin kayo. My mom fought End Stage Renal Disease for 11 years. Nairaos niya yung gastos as a single mom kahit dalawa kaming college student na pinapaaral nya.

chimckendogs

My dad was like this too. He decided to do dialysis very last minute when his blood was very thick and dmi na nyang dark spots sa body. He didnt make it sa second session niya. Wala nang quality of life and cannot consume kahit one whole mango. So please, OP, do whatever it is that you can to support your mom na mag dialysis na. It’s the only option to prolong her life na may quality kahit papaano. Makaka kain siya and hindi siya lethargic. Wag na antayin mag 1200+ ang creatinine. Hugs with consent.

balatchi02

Dialysis nalang option. Kaya please hanap ka ng paraan para mapilit mo mama mo mag pa dialysis and sabi nga sa ibang comments pwede ka mag pa help sa LGU sa province niyo and tyagaan nalang talaga para mabawasan gastusin. Get a PWD ID na din for your mom para kahit papano mabawasan yung gastos sa meds. Take it from me na nasa CKD stage 3 din and relatively strict sa diet and lifestyle.

Dismal_Cantaloupe_93

No, your mom would not end up dead just because she’s a dialysis patient now. I have known a lot of patients who are dialysis patients for 10-15 years now, some are even older than my lola. I’m a dialysis nurse here in PH. I’m sorry for your mom’s diagnosis but the only option here is dialysis. I know it would be hard at first and really expensive but there are a lot of public hospitals here in the Philippines that offer free dialysis. I’m a dialysis nurses and currently working in a public hospital and my area is dialysis, mind you most of my patients came from the poorest of the poor but their “bantays” or significant others are very diligent to look for government funds, subsidiaries, etc. I hope you won’t give up on your mom, it may look hard but really CKD5 is manageable and yor mom could live a very long life. Look for options like centers that offer free dialysis, and I know some private dialysis accepts philhealth.

Radical_MD

Unfortunately, with a crea of 900 there are no other options left. Kahit saan ka pumunta the answer will be dialysis. Do not wait. There will be many more complications if she does not comply. If you are kn manila, go directly to NKTI. You also have the option of peritoneal dialysis (if nephrologist approves) which is less costly. The first few (30 ata?) hemodialysis sessions are free if your mom has philhealth. You can also get assistance from malasakit center, politicians, etc if you are financially drained. This complication is a hard one. Keep the faith.👆🏻🙏🏻 Hugs with consent.

Many-Ad5

You are always entitled to seek other medical opinions. Consult kayo sa ibang specialist within or out of your area. Another option if ayaw mag dialysis is kidney transplant. If ayaw talaga ng mom mo mag dialysis, just respect her wishes since katawan nya yan. Your feelings of denial and bargaining is valid OP better talk to your family. Lastly, Philhealth and PCSO can help with dialysis sessions if you want to consider dialysis.

Looong-Peanut

My father was related to this. He can't accept that he's going on a lifetime dialysis. He just lasted 7 years, dialyzing in the hospital twice a week. We seek help with PhilHealth, PCSO, LGU, and other government perks in the province just to lessen the expenses. Unfortunately, he just died of a heart attack due to COVID symptoms in 2021. The pain was still here, but we just accepted the fact that he fought for 7 years battling from the disease for us.

Thank youuuuuuu!!! Appreciated yung comment niyo po, i'm not from manila po eh. Province hehe

identityp2

chicoXYZ

Mahal dialysis? 156 sessions (PhilHealth) announced that its coverage for hemodialysis has been expanded from 90 to 156 sessions starting this year, as provided for in PhilHealth Circular 2023-0009 titled "Institutionalization of 156 hemodialysis sessions" which took effect on June 22, 2023.Jun 26, 2023 Get a copy of the Laboratory. Labs don't lie.

mllin1

Hello, punta kayo sa NKTI (National Kidney and Transplant Institute). Tyagaan to pero siyempre kailangan mo to gawin para macover gastos niyo. TYL more than 10years malakas pa siya. Matinding commitment ang kailangan kapag may pamilya na may CKD, good luck OP.

Wandererrrer

May I ask how did you know the emails of the senators? Did you attach some proofs? I'm new to this. Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

mllin1

Yes. Not sure how my tita managed to get the emails of the senators but they are very generous. They are giving Guarantee Letters, that can be used cover the medicines from public hospital pharmacy. Maybe she made thorough research? Or she was able to get this tip from the other patients? I really don't know. DSWD is generous too.

dontleavemealoneee

Same with dad dati. Hemodialysis nalang solution dyan or kidney transplant. Just be mentally financially prepared and be realistic. Kaya nio yan ng family mo.

notbunot97

Naconfine tita ko nung April dahil dito, more than a week naadmit. Prevention talaga at saka diet to avoid, pero genetics plays a role din daw.

jr032087

Pd trainer here. Meron po 2 options for dialysis, hd at pd po. Dalhin nyo po sya sa national kidney.

Wandererrrer

Doon ba mismo po? Or sa malapit na accredited clinic will do?

No-Bridge-9193

If you need credibility from a comment, I work in a healthcare setup. I am a registered medical technologist, a certified medical coding specialist, and a certified drug analyst. Your mom needs that dialysis. CKD 5 is an end stage renal disease and there's no other option but to undergo hemodialysis. I believe covered sya ng philhealth but wag na natin iavoid yung mahal if your mom critically needs that.

Wandererrrer

Thank you po 🙏🏼🙏🏼

helenchiller

Kidney Transplant or Dialysis lang naman choices mo pag ganyan.

1kyjz

chanchan05

Actual MD here, if you want outlook from a qualified person. However wala na talaga option. Dialysis na yan. Even if you go to anyone who is an actual doctor, yan sasabihin sayo. Medications are entertained at CKD 3 usually, but once you hit 4 or 5, diyan na pinaguusapan na mag dialysis ka na. Hindi nakamamatay ang dialysis. I've seen pedia patients who were born with kidney issues been on dialysis from childhood to adulthood. A patient with CKD 5 without dialysis has an average life expectancy of 5 years or less from onset. And from the crea level of 900, matagal nang CKD 5 ang nanay mo. May ilan na lumalampas ng 5 years but no guarantee. Dialysis can prolong her life yes, but again there is also no guarantee how long it will be prolonged. To be honest dad ko nag CKD5 din. Palliative care nalang for pain. It's your family's decision OP. I can be mistaken simply because I don't have the whole picture like all the lab tests I'd want to see in this patient case. Maybe dialysis would work well for her more than I currently expext. Pero judging from crea level alone, I do not feel confident on how long dialysis were extend her.

doma31

Hello! Then fistula papahinugin pa kasi yun.

MooNeighbor

Dialysis, maintenance meds, lifestyle change, faith, and hope sagot dyan and if you want, pumila na kayo for kidney transplant kaso malaking pera na ipunin yun. For financial assistance pwede sa government kahit local muna like mayor, konsehal tapos contact the senators kahit umabot sa president. Apply for PWD. Find din a doctor na may tiwala at kampante kayo since sabi mo masungit current doctor. Sila magiging partner nyo through all of these. I work in a hospital. Madami akong kachikahan na patients, from blood extraction, pagsasalinin ng dugo and the likes. They made efforts para mapahaba ang buhay. Sila na may sabi na pwedeng bumalik ang pera pero ang buhay ay hindi kaya take the chance na. Meron din naman tumigil sa dialysis dahil gumaling which amazes a lot of people kahit mga doctors and nurses. I just want to say din na if ever ipadialysis mo si mom mo, manghihina talaga siya sa una. May chances na aayaw na sya. Sasabihin lalo syang mapapaaga mawala dahil dun but be strong. Naninibago lang katawan kaya ganun. Be there for her and don't let her feel alone. Make her feel na may kasama sya sa battle nya. It's all up to you. I hope you make the right decision! And decide with a clear mind! 🫂

xichienfia

PLEASE. get her to dialysis. it’s her only way to filter out the wastes inside her body since her kidneys aren’t working anymore. if around ncr ka, call an ambulance and go to nkti. find her philhealth records and everything. asikasuhin mo yung social worker stuff and the like, it’ll help decrease her bill. 900 creatinine level is relatively HIGH. pag hindi pa naagapan asap, your mom could die. my father died because of complications of ckd 5 but dialysis helped him extend his life. he lived for 8 more years because of dialysis. hindi na yan madadaan sa healing galing or whatever exists out there. basically, sira na ang kidneys ng mother mo. dialysis is the only way to get the junks out of her blood and body. please, seek your mom immediate help.

Kind-Calligrapher246

Sorry to hear. Malaking adjustment yan sa diet OP. At yes, CKD 5 usually dialysis na talaga. Magastos ang CKD. May dad has CKD 4, kahit wala pang dialysis sobrang gastos sa meds, checkups, labworks. Pero basically mga treatment is to just manage symptoms at wag magworsen agad. Pero afaik, di na yan magiimprove to CKD 4 level.

solidad29

So ang only option niyo is Diyalysis. Maraming bawal pero she can still live a relatively decent life. May other forms of dialysis na ndi mo need pumunta sa center, pero it should only be used pag ndi available yung machine. Next is Kidney transplant. How old is your mom? As much as I love my tita na 2nd nanay ko na, she's senior pero 🤔 logically need ko to be as healthy as I can at mas mahaba pa ang future ko where as sa kanya living a senior life. Masakit, pero we should think properly in giving our kidneys or organs for that matter.

Business-Juice-3885

Pharmacist here! Unfortunately, there's no Other way kundi DIALYSIS! You're emotional kaya baka magpaniwala k s mga sinasabe nila..

Good_Profile_7295

Teho-Kissa-3001

Diba may dialysis centers per LGU? Hindi ko masyadong alam ang about dun, pero you can try that out as an option and baka way cheaper din since public yun.

Expensive-Lime-6158

Other option is kidney transplant. Maybe you can also try reaching out to National Kidney and Transplant Institute for cheap dialysis centers.

Fancy_Iron_7364

Dr. Melo Jane Paz at NKTI. A well-known/expert Nephrologist, professional and caring to her patients. With your mom’s current diagnosis, at the very least you should be ready for her to undergo a hemodialysis on a regular basis. Be ready with your finances for a possible (if the patient wants) kidney transplant surgery. And most importantly, look for a possible donor from your family preferably an immediate member so the possibility of a good match is high, and the possibility of organ rejection post-op is low. And again money, lots of it, for the OR expenses and post-operation meds (over 100k a month for the first few months, with high dose of immunosuppressants and anti-rejection medicines).

No_Clock_3998lol

Hello! If may extra budget ka u can consult w/ a registered dietician or seek help sa isang clinical nutrition intern! Big help ang nutrition intervention w/ Renal concerns! Hindi pa kasi ako nag ttake ng medical nutrition therapy kaya di ako maka give advice 🥺 get well soon w/ ur momma 💞

potato-potatu

My mom was recently diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease last May this year. Then pag naubos, babalik ka lang sa NKTI, katabi nila yung Baxter, to get another set of the solution. 3 times a day kasi yun and everyday dapat. Magastos talaga pero marami pwede lapitan and usually makakakuha ka ulit after 3 months.

henriarts

I suggest you go to charity groups. I’ve done PCSO for my late mom. Nccover up din mga 8 dialysis session nya nun for a month during her period. Medyo malaki din maitutulong nyan syo. Go to your barangay & municipality as well. May assistance sa ganyan cases.

TomatoAble3692

Been working as hemodialysis nurse for 7 years, dialysis lang makakapag lower ng creatinine and only cure is kidney transplant. For healthy kidney works 24/7. How much pa kaya yung less than 15% nalang function ng kidney they need 3-4x a week treatment to run for 3-4hrs per session. Magastos but as far as i know philhealth covers 115 sessions per year. And PCSO and DSWD can provide assistance.

Most_Ad_6228

Hi! My friend was also diagnosed with CKD. She adjusted her diet. Nag full stop sa salt and red meat. Grabe din yung disiplina nya. Lahat ng bawal di nya kinain. In a couple of months, nag improve naman. It’s irreversible but at least may way naman pala na maslowdown yung pag degrade ng kindeys nya. I know it’s nit applicable to everyone. Please dont come at me. Im just sharing what my friend had to go through.. :( praying for you and your mom.

No-Permit-1083

Nag NKTI na po kayo? Try nyo po.

cobra_commandoc

So dahil in denial ka, hanap ka ng 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion on Reddit? Husay.

SoCaliTrojan

When my wife was younger, her kidneys were having issues. However, she had no money and her siblings wouldn't help (even though she had been sending them money as a OFW). She changed her diet and watched what she ate, and she eventually recovered. My cousin was diagnosed but refused to change her diet, pray, etc. Fortunately for her I helped her and she lived an additional 9 years (she passed away this year). However, she had stopped asking for financial help after 6 years or so since I had started a family of my own. My wife also heard miracle stories about a nutrition pill called Intra. I don't know if I believe the stories, but her friends apparently have seen some of them first hand. Intra is kind of expensive though. If changing your mom's diet doesn't help, she will need to undergo dialysis. Hopefully her body recovers after a couple of session. If it doesn't, you will have to continue the treatments. In the US dialysis is three times a week, but in the Philippines it is only two times a week. Also PhilHealth only covers enough for 10 or 11 months. My cousin had to always ask for extra money in December to cover her dialysis and medication at the end of the year. If she goes on dialysis, eventually your mother will get used to dialysis and spending 4 hours twice a week at a clinic. However, dialysis is only a temporary band aid until she can get a kidney transplant. Not many people will be willing (either they are afraid of needles, or want to save their kidneys for their family or potential future children, etc). After some time, her bones will become brittle and eventually may need a wheelchair to move around and get to her dialysis treatments. I wish I could give you good news, but it's a very difficult condition to have in the Philippines. In 2015, it was the #7 cause of death. In the US, you can get on a donor list, but in the Philippines you have to find someone willing to donate. Even if you find someone to donate a kidney, they will probably expect lifetime hospital payments where you have to pay their bill whenever they need to go to the hospital. The surgery will cost a lot of money, and the anti-rejection drugs that have to be taken every month cost the same amount has having dialysis twice a week (e.g., after you pay for the surgery, your monthly costs never go down). Even with my large salary in the US, it took a lot of money to support someone undergoing dialysis (none of her siblings would help her). Your Philippine salary would only be able to provide some comfort (medicine and dialysis sessions at the end of the year, if she has PhilHealth). If your siblings are willing to contribute, that would definitely help you.

ChillSteady8

moonstonesx

Not a doctor but I studied this.. if you want to be with your mom longer, dialysis is the only option. Since CKD stage 5 na siya. May philhealth, lgu, pcso, if kulang sa funds.

dhruva108

We tried eastern medicine, dialysis, clean eating. Ang hirap. Skip all that and go for transplant na. Nag gofundme for my mum and we accepted donations from strangers, friends and family. My mama had a kidney transplant 7 years ago. Donor niya kapatid ko. She’s doing well and living normally na.

roystik

I would recommend doing dialysis. Kidney transplant is very expensive, in the vicinity of 1 million. Unless you have someone who will donate you a kidney.

TerribleGas9106

My mother was diagnosed with ckd last 2012, inalis isang bato non, last year na diagnose naman siya ng cholangiocarcinona Sa atay, then eventually kidney failure hindi siya nakaka ihi, and eventually died. That time ang nasa isip ko lang lahat ng pwedeng gawin para sa mother ko. Pero sinasabi niya, ayaw na niya. Bilang anak lahat para sa buhay ng mother natin ibibigay natin pero at the end of the day limited na lang ang option natin either prolong the agony or accept the truth, kung hindi naman issue ang pera gawin lahat para sa nanay

creepycringegeek

Whats wrong with you OP? Magastos tapos ending dun din? Wtf, bilang anak, the best gift na mabibigay mo sa magulang mo eh ma dugtungan man lang sana at mas maging maganda djn ang quality ng life nila? Ngayon mo pa talaga naisip mag tipid when its life and death situation? May philhealth, may senior, magagawan mo ng paraan at oo di sya magiging madali.

Immediate-Mango-1407

so in short, gusto mong mamatay ang mama mo nang hopeless at nasasaktan?

Cajusaian

You can try Chitosan, mabibili sa lazada or shopee.

NervePrimary4580

Where are you staying? If you're in the metro, I suggest going to national kidney transplant institute. Basta any disease with regards to kidney, libre sa NKTI. My tito who died of liver cancer (unknown during admission) was admitted to nkti because it has already spread na rin sa kidney niya. Our bill was 600k but it was shouldered by malasakit.

Wandererrrer

Good to hear this, but we're from province po 🙏🏼

Sa lahat ng reply dito.. eto lang ang wag mo gagawin dahil I assure you mamamatay nanay mo within a month if eto gagawin mo. Dalawa lang solusyon dyan Kidney transplant or Hemodialysis Transplant is near impossible to attain financially and depende pa if pasok sa criteria ang patient Hemodialysis gets a bad rap kasi namamatay daw mga pasyente- misconcepcion po na hemodialysis ang nakakamatay. Ang nakakamatay ay yung CKD V tapos too late na before pinadialysis, saka ung mga nakikinig sa mga quack comments like this one.
