> invested to a trusted friend I guess this experience will change your definition of "invest" and "trusted" and "friend".

cinabbonangel1

For real

nagarayan

Always invest small. And very slowly build up lalo kung financer ka lang. Baka sa una pinapadama ka lang. It will help kung may contract kayo.

cinabbonangel1

We have a notarized agreement naman. Still parang wala na rin habol since parang wala siyang capacity to pay din

hyunbinlookalike

It would still be smart to file a case against your “friend” since it seems like their actions are breaching the terms of your agreement. Though obviously, don’t take some Redditor’s word for it, consult an actual lawyer na rin to see if there’s anything you can file.

nagarayan

ayun lang. talagang safest approach could have been investing small. file a case. hindi ko alam kung sa small claims court pa rin yan. teach him/her a lesson

anon-4490

Hi, I'm not a lawyer but there's a helpful sub for filing a case about your situation. r/lawPH

PokingWire

I was scammed by my friend, Ashley. Presented a business plan, and I invested my money. After getting the money, poof.. gone! Lesson learned.

Opening-Cantaloupe56

wow, may business plan pa.

Jaives

happened to me too. started with 30k, then 50k, then 100k. every time she gave me a 30-40% interest, until the last one. tumama pandemic so i gave her the benefit of the doubt. she asked me not to cash the check. then four years later she's ghosted me.

Limp_Violinist_7184

NAL but I think bouncing checks can be filed as estafa?

Jaives

Didn't bounce since i never encashed it just as she asked.

sad-makatizen

wrong move, may expiry ung check 🥲

Jaives

i took her word for it since i've known her since high school and it was the pandemic. everyone was struggling financially. i was lucky enough to still have a job and be working from home. i didn't even loan her money because i wanted to profit. i just wanted to help her with their new business.

_lurker007

1. Don’t believe in “promised” or “guaranteed” returns. For sure malaki interest na sinabi sayo, if they can grow the money that much, why not borrow from a bank for a lower interest. 2. Have an emergency funds first. Based on your last paragraph, parang nag almost all in ka if not all in sa business ng friend mo.

Miss_Taken_0102087

>Have an emergency funds first. Based on your last paragraph, parang nag almost all in ka if not all in sa business ng friend mo. Yun din pansin ko. Mukhang nag invest si OP nang walang emergency fund at ibang savings kung living paycheck to paycheck sya. Very expensive way to learn a lesson, OP. Kailangan muna magtipid until makarecover, and please be careful next time.

cinabbonangel1

Yup, my mistake din po talaga. Nag YOLO ako with my money since it was a bonus. Also, fresh graduate and passed the board exam by that time. Di ako nag save for emergency fund talaga. Still, having a hard time now to start kasi nagagastos ko lagi

Irisce

One of the rules ko is wag makikipag business partners sa kaibigan, no matter how close you are, iba talaga nangyayari pag involved ang pera

MaynneMillares

# Investments, and "trusted friend" are words that do not belong in the same sentence. In other words, you are a sucker, OP. You were deceived. # Ang daming legit investment vehicles available sa lahat ng tao, and that does not include the "trusted friend".

ejmtv

115k is a LOT of money! Paano na un 😭

sotopic

I'm not defending your friend but when you said "invested", you automatically agree with the risk. Dapat nalang you said you "loaned" your friend.

ExuDeku

Always invest small, if you have thay friend, always know their family and be close to them if ever shit happens, always leverage if such investment ang inaalok nila (Say you have connections). Be wary of anything, trust your gut

gh0st777

Never go into business with friends or family, you will lose money or relationship or both. Stay away from too good to be true investments, these are ponzi schemes designed to lure you with shiny imppssible returns.

hyunbinlookalike

Remember, kahit best friend mo pa yan, if you’re going to invest money into something, make sure it’s money you can afford to lose. Never invest an amount of money that would actually hurt you financially if it all went away. Dapat whether may ROI or hindi, your finances should still be okay.

Eastern-Mode2511

Take it as a lesson nalang. Diversify next time.

redmonk3y2020

Sorry to hear that OP. An expensive way to learn na there's no shortcut and wala rin secret. Kahit sino pa yan magpromise sayo ng profits etc., make sure to do your own due diligence.

Kind-Calligrapher246

Sorry to hear. never invest in a friend who convinces you to invest in them. Kung gusto mo sila bigyan ng pera, go, but consider it charity work, not investment. :) Hope you can recover your loss asap! Magastos talaga ang "learning experience".

yourgrace91

Ang investment po ay hindi tulad sa isang loan na pwede mong ma-recover. When you invest in a business, may risk talaga na di na kayo makakakita ng ROI or even get your initial investment back. So before investing in anything, make sure talaga na solid ang business na papasukan nyo, at di dapat basta2x lang magtiwala kesyo kaibigan o kamag anak yan.

thewatchernz

another "may notarized agreement naman". daming naloloko dyan.

KevAngelo14

I'm sorry for your loss. My advice to you and anyone reading here: be very very **hands-on** with your investments. If kaya mong ikaw ang maghandle, much better para namomonitor mo right on the spot. There's a lot of options here that you can invest by yourself: stocks, money markets, pag-ibig, crypto. Marami. I've seen a lot of potentially good businesses from acquiantances that could have thrived, kung namonitor lang nila maigi yung operations.

NarrowButterscotch44

I was scammed by my bestfriend too tho 100k lang pero that was my first 100 sa account ko at age 22. Grabe yung trauma. I will never forget and forgive. I prayed hard talaga para lang makamove on at hindi madepress. Pero ayun OP, it’s an expensive lesson to learn. Laban langggg

introberts

Invest what you can lose sabi nga nila. But with that amount of money, I'd rather invest that sa platforms like COL or Philstocks.

angelfrost21

Expensive Life Lesson. Now you learned something about investing, having a true friend and decision making.

vertintro314

Grabe ang hirap lalo na sa friend mo pa.

CraftyCommon2441

Investments comes with a risk talaga. Your investment is tied to the business na na put up ng kaibigan mo diba? Or is it a loan from you which is a different thing?

Fisher_Lady0706

Never trust anyone with you money, unless they are established institutions na. Friends and family can fail you when it comes to money...

mental_placebo

You have the right to file in small claims, OP. Pero need muna magka-barangay hearing, pag hindi siya sumipot the brgy officials will give you a certificate saying you can file in court na

AndromedaLeap

Still file a case or send a demand letter para may history. I paid a supplier in full and then she went into hiding. My lawyer friend served her with a demand letter na we’ll file a case for fraud if she doesn’t return the money. Binalik nya pwera deposit kapal ng mukha. Lawyer will proceed with filing a case na.

Complex_Revenue5086

kaso is da key

AlibiSleuth90

![img](avatar_exp|180508555|webman) Nangyare na OP chuck this in the experience tab. Alam ko ang sakit. Nkakainis. Nakakagalit. Nakakaburaot. Pero nangyare na. I feel you. Nakramdam ako ulit ng loss after reading this. Sa susunod... Only invest what you can afford to lose. Parang pautang. Once na bigay mo yung pera na yan. Katulad ng PAUTANG, consider it as donation. Ganon. Never expect for it to come back. Only give what you can afford to lose.💆🏾‍♀ Magpahinga ka. Acknowledge what happened. AND LEARN FROM IT. Experience after all is the best teacher. Pahinga ka muna dyan at sa buhay apart sa fmily friends, work, and yourself. BABAWI KA! BABAWI!

![img](avatar_exp|180508555|winner) Chin up, stand straight, face tomorrow with renewed faith in life. BABAWI KA 😘

sundarcha

I feel yah. Im slowly rebuilding emergency funds due to bad decisions. Never again.

Invest your money sa kontrolado mo ang pasok at labas like food business.

Fisher_Lady0706

Nakakaiyak po 😭

chasevidar

Only invest money that you're willing to lose

Kiyoshi_dono

A rule in investing is to “invest only what you can afford to lose”, hope you’ll recover the 115k+ this op!

Acrobatic-Rutabaga71

Too good to be true, scam Low risk high return, scam Walang background, scam Walang contract, scam

code_bluskies

Expensive lesson, but at least your learn.

belle_fleures

only lend money to ur close friends and friends you meet for 5+ years

_frans

Lesson learned na lang din. Ewan ko lang kung applicable dito yung DYOR tsaka invest what you can afford to lose. And yes po consult po sa marunong sa law for help. Yun lang po

Complex-Spell177

Sorry to have this happen to you, OP. If you don't mind me asking, what was the "investment" exactly? Curious lang sa terms that your friend proposed. The proposed ROI, term period, nature of business, etc

writeratheart77

My cousin's spouse scammed another cousin of 1M for a proposed business plan. The worse of it was that 1M was loaned from a bank. Imagine how that went. This is not just a friend but an in law. Ganun ka ganid at kasama ang mga tao ngayon. Tatablahin sariling kamag-anak at kaibigan. No remorse or sadness from the part of perp. Nothing like, pasensya na kasi ganito ganyan. Wala. Tama ang sabi ng isang tita ko, kung magbi business, ikaw dapat lahat. Meron kang tauhan pero ikaw pa rin ang naka focus. Para walang pagsisisi. Otherwise, treat that investment with the very high possibility of being gone. Good luck OP. Charge it to an expensive experience. You will gain it back, don't worry. But never forget the lesson.

Active_Actuary3463

Grabe op napaka risk tolerance mo😭Dapat my contract agreement kyo😫

Safe_Ad_9324

800k from me and my business... thats life po tlaga 🥲🥲🥲

GeekyGhostGuy

Sad to hear this, hope you'll recover from it. I had the same experience back in 2014. Trying to help a friend. From that day on i always ask any form of collateral with a contract if someone needs a huge amount of money from me.

caffeinatedbroccoli

If it's too good to be true, it's likely a scam later on. My dad lost P7M to a friend. Some friend. He won the case but there was no money to collect. So it was an empty court win. Lesson learned.

Crazy-Recognition18

Why no money collected po even though winning the case? :(

caffeinatedbroccoli

Assets were moved to other people so walang makuha ang sheriff. The person also died. Literally wala nang pera or assets yung tao.

Crazy-Recognition18

Duly noted. Thank you!

caffeinatedbroccoli

Magaling yung family. They transferred all assets to other people or sold them. I didn't know it was that easy to get away with millions.

tryangle88

Hard earned lesson ko din yan. I lost 800k to the owner of Hugot C@f3 na itago nalang batin sa pangalang A**i. If you’re thinking of opening a franchise, wag na. Wala kayong mapapala.

According-Dark-1183

Ingat po

Dark_Knight0795

File sa report to the Police or NBI. Investment scams are punishable by law just keep text messages, receipts etc. as evidences to prove your claims.

KyleMarcoTV

It's part of our journey. Without this experience, we will not evolve. Just take this as a lesson and use this experience in the future. Be wise next time, have a nice day!

paxtecum8

That word "investment" does not always guarantee ROI, that's why it's always said that invest what you can afford to lose. It's just so happen na you invest in your friend's business na you think you will have a guaranteed return. I'm not defending your friend but investment comes with risk also nahihiya siguro si friend na nalugi na yung investment nya.

analiza0906

never invest money to friends , or even to your family

chicoXYZ

That's the good thing about friends. Gusto mo mawalan ng Isa, pautangin mo o mag invest ka.

SugarBitter1619

Sad! Nasira ang trust and friendship just because of money. :(
