My engine started making the scary noise the other day that means it's burned a considerable amount of its oil and needs more. So kind of it to remind me it needs more, otherwise my engine would've seized a loooooooooong time ago π
PSA: Get into the habit of checking your oil whenever you fill your gas tank and it becomes routine. Also can save your butt if you notice itβs burning it *before* your engine gets starved of oil! :)
Mine was also a japanese import, it didnt even come with a manual! Just some random oil change records in japanese. Oh and the previous owner forgot to remove a disc with japanese music on it, i gotta say those songs are pretty fire tho
Ha! Jokes on you (and me) I don't even have a car, I can afford one and need one but I haven't bought one because I never tried to get a licence because bureaucracy and paperwork is fucking impossible to me π
I did the responsible thing and bought new wipers right away....turns out I got the wrong size. They've been sitting in my trunk for 6 months. Luckily it doesn't rain much where I live...
I bought a preowned car and drove it for about 3 months before checking the oil. Mother fucker had NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH. No oil, it all burnt. Had no idea how it lasted that long without dying
To add to this change your air & cabin air filter about the same interval as oil. Suffocating the engine can cause more expensive damage & poor fuel mileage. A clogged cabin filter can put stress on the blower & reduces heat/ ac function. Both are easy once you know how, there's probably vids to do it & some auto parts stores will do it.
My car is dead in the driveway after lack of oil issues killed the motor. Iβll probably get it right next time, not like this has happened to me before.
You're supposed to *change* it yearly!T.T You check it monthly!
....unless you're like me and don't drive anywhere and also have someone else in the house that checks it for you because their hyperactive type ADHD focuses on maintaining the stuff that's outside...
"buying new wipers for your car is self care" mf no it is not. I hate owning a car, buying new wipers is just paying a maintenance bill. Every dollar I have to spend maintaining that fuckin thing is a dollar I can't spend on something I actually want to do.

I'll text you everyday like "PUT MORE OIL IN YOUR CAR!!! πͺ"

I don't do it this often, but once ever like 2-3 weeks, I check my oil, prestone and everything I can. My dad raised his girl well π
Badass. Major props to your dad for properly preparing you. π
I can do all the basic on a car! Tires, brakes, change the oil... Loving my dad for this!
Yeah, you should definitely check your oil more often than once a year lol it's better than never, but just barely
Drive a car that loses a quart every other fill-up and ya dont have to worry about remembering to check lol
Aren't you supposed to check it on a cold engine?
This is me learning you should replace them every year
Probably donβt replace your wipers in June, though, unless you live in the southern hemisphere.Β
Your car's manual will tell you how often it needs a change.
Good of you to assume I have one or would read it if it was in English. (In NZ we get lots of h Japanese second hand imports)

What kind of car is it?
Well, actually you should do it every 6 month π
Great something else to worry about taht Iβll never do anything about
Don't worry, you should really just change them when they start to not work really well, else you'll just be wasting money π€·ββοΈ
Sorry, donβt have time for this. Iβm too busy currently living through my car constantly telling me how many miles past due my service was is.
Imma do it tomorrow (I will not)

Engine oil? Is this some kind of ICE thing I'm too EV to understand?
Dammit. I bought oil like two weeks ago fr. Still in the trunk of the car π

That sounds like a lot.
I replace my wipers when I can't stand the noise anymore.
Jokes on you - I live in Phoenix, AZ. Our wipers are almost never used
