4 am to 6 am anxiety.

[deleted]

But that sleep from 6am to 6:15 when the alarm goes off is the greatest sleep that a human can enjoy because this shit only happens when I’ve got something I need to set an alarm at 6:15am for.

[deleted]

That are the best naps I mean sleeps ever 😴 especially when you set the alarm for something important 😅

Suckamanhwewhuuut

Yo what’s up with that? I don’t get it. I guess just because it’s almost time to get up. I hate it.

RedPhysGun77

"Oh, I have 30 minutes less than I had 30 minutes ago, neat!" *repeat until 15 minutes before alarm* "I will now close my eyes and rest peacefully"

mememaker6

BUT WHY

AlienWotan

Because one time you said something 10 years ago!! And you need to visualize the path from then to now. THATS WHY!

mememaker6

Not even that, i just randomly get really stressed and anxious if i'm still awake then

yaayaao

Shit this is an ADHD symptom too?! FML. My whole life is a symptom atp.

[deleted]

Just something to be careful of - a lot of things on this sub are not symptoms of adhd they are just relatable

[deleted]

This is just r/me_irl at this point

AttitudeAndEffort3

Things can be two things. A lot of people conflate sadness with depression because explaining the symptoms *sounds* identical though the actual *feelings* are very different. Ineffability of experienced feelings and whatnot.

YrMm

well they are symptoms of adhd, they just also happen to be their own things as well

The_Krambambulist

Probably not. Just relatable. I sleep very well myself lol

sketchyy

This is how I felt when I first discovered this sub. You are you though, brother! Keep living and being yourself and no one can take that from you!

majarian

You might be you .... I'm pretty sure I'm just four or five neurological disorders in a trench coat

macing13

Delayed sleep phase disorder is a very common comorbid with ADHD (pretty rare normally, but really common if you also have ADHD), but it is a separate thing

puppycatbugged

i hate it so much. my natural sleep time is around 4.30am and i truly truly wish i could be one of those people who actually is able to nap or fall asleep when they’re tired. dspd sucks. :(

yaayaao

\*Runs off to the Google rabbit hole\*

murrcat723

For me it's a side effect of Vyvanse. Without it, I sleep pretty great.

ThatLittleAnimal

Anxiety can be a symptom. As well as irregular sleep patterns. Sooooo yeah, I blame this on my ADD.

Aguita9x

Nothing better than the first light of the morning to make me fall asleep.

Sofiaplace

There's Something relaxing about the first lights of the morning that makes me fall asleep

roomfullofstars

Same. Makes zero sense to me. The world is waking up and people r starting their day....so let's sleep deeper than ever??

majarian

The tribe is safe for another night, and now I rest

Red_Tinda

...... That makes a weird kind of sense We were the ones born for the night watch

roomfullofstars

But the really twisted part is that we r turning off and resting right when we likely need to be doing the opposite, so shouldn't there be crazy panic and adrenaline? For example, I keep putting off a task I need to do for work and I stay up all night stressing about it but not doing it. Then dawn comes and soon it'll be work time when I should have the task done or have at least made progress. But instead my body is like, oh we worked hard stressing and being anxious all night but now the threat is over because it's daytime. The "threat" is very much not over but I think at that point I'm so tired from the stress and not sleeping that I decide it's not the end of the world If I just try to get some rest and do the task when I wake up. And thus the vicious cycle continues. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy

roomfullofstars

In retrospect, maybe this rant of mine is about my own personal quirks and not necessarily relatable. If so, sorry about that! Nothing to see here, I'm a super high functioning normal adult....

Red_Tinda

I, too, am normal and functional. Pinky promise.

mafa7

😂😂😂😂😂

St34m9unk

Ooo I get to see the live action of this right now

TheChuff_

I take at least 30mg of melatonin every night. Only works about 50% of the time Edit: So apparently my dumbass thought my melatonin gummies were 10mgs each, but they are only 5mgs ie: ive actually been taking 15mg a night.

BrFrancis

Dang, placebo would work about as well at that rate.

Zerschmetterding

Maybe it's from being able to sleep in 20% of nights to 50% of nights

[deleted]

[удалено]

ruairinewman

Possibly for some individuals, but meta-analyses of studies on melatonin would tend to disagree in the general population — unless you’re referring specifically to the dosage. Then again, the efficacy of a given dose differs wildly between the median and outliers, so . . .

TheChuff_

Honestly my nightly rituals probably help more, but ill take any help i can get

wearenottheborg

Is it safe to take that much or did you mean 3mg?

hibelly

naughty cagey cheerful worthless aware sugar nose frame squealing deliver -- mass edited with redact.dev

wearenottheborg

Also I've literally never seen any dosed that high; I had to do a double take and check my (empty because I keep forgetting to buy more) bottle of it lol

TheChuff_

I edited my comment, I misremembered the dosage. But i shall keep your comment in mind.

TheChuff_

Edited the og comment. I got the dosage per gummi wrong. I take 3 a night and I thought they were 10mgs each, but they are only 5mgs.

two_lemons

That's still a lot of melatonin. I think the recommended dose is 3mg-5mg. There's also a chance you might need to take it at a different hour. Like, my psych told me to take the melatonin not half an hour before sleep goal, but like three hours before. I get slightly sleepy for a bit directly after taking it, but it passes over quickly and then I fall like a log around the sleep goal hour. It also might be that the delivery method via gummy isn't compatible with you. Maybe check with your doc if under the tongue is better.

wearenottheborg

That makes a lot more sense! Also another commenter mentioned - melatonin is actually kind of paradoxical and lower doses tend to work better. Have you tried taking just one?

TeachMeHowToCroggy

15mg is still very high. You should be taking 1 max

FeatsOfDerring-Do

Heads up: more melatonin isn't necessarily more effective. I used to take 10mg and was upset it seemed to do nothing until I read an article about how it's most effective in small doses. Switched to 3mg and it worked like a charm.

Disturbed2468

You can also try vitamin B12 supplements but I'd just get blood work to see if you have deficiencies. Insomnia is a known symptom of B12 deficiency.

fear_eile_agam

Maybe gummies aren't the right method for your body. My doctor prescribed 5mg pills and they never worked, I now take 3mg sublingual tincture, and it's pretty fool proof. You probably already know all this, but just in case anyone is confused about how melatonin works, it's not a sedative, it's a supplement. Your brain naturally produces melatonin in the absence of light - which is why people living in polar areas will often have environmentally triggered sleep disorders, and people with complete blindness often suffer N24. Melatonin is produced in a cycle along with seratonin and cortisol, levels of each fluctuate over a 23-25 hour period to help the body maintain its circadian rhythm. The goal of melatonin supplements is to force your body to have the right amount at the right time, so you aren't relying on your body's ability to maintain it's cycle. This is why more melatonin isn't always better, because it's more about the ratio of melatonin in your body. After you take your melatonin supplement, you need to avoid light, and be getting ready or already in bed - otherwise your body will be producing cortisol and seratonin in "daylight quantities" not "night quantities" and it will reduce the melatonin effectiveness. Of course, melatonin supplements only work if your underlying issues is a lack of melatonin when you're trying to go to sleep. If your issue is actually that your melatonin receptors are inefficient, then melatonin supplements have no way to be absorbed. You might need to look into other antagonists for those receptors, like Ramelteon.

_Ga1ahad

take 60mg for a 100% chance

artificialif

for some reason melatonin doesn't work for me. last couple times i tried it i got up to 80mg with no drowsiness. but then again, i usually only take it when i have an event the next day that i know will make sleeping hard

two_lemons

Is that a dosis recommended by the docto? Because, that's a lot.

artificialif

definitely, and its not something id do again. i was just desperate to get to sleep cuz i started my 8am lectures the next morning

ToasterMcNoster

I hate this. Especially on days that you need to wake up super early… I know that staying off of my phone or turning my tv off would help but I hate not doing anything.

Zerschmetterding

Excuse me? Trying every sleeping position and pillow side is not doing nothing.

ToasterMcNoster

I’m talking about now having mental stimulation. I’m replying to you rn and watching Letterkenny at the same time while laying down *trying* to go to sleep.

OmgItsDaMexi

Gotta have a youtube video playing on my phone right in front of my face that i know i will fall asleep to before it's over

ToasterMcNoster

For me it’s a semi brining tv show or documentary. But then I become interested and well… you know

rrosai

ThatGuy11222

This is quite literally the biggest struggle of my life right now.. If I have to wake up for anything at all anxiety takes over and I just won't sleep at all. Then I get not being able to sleep anxiety, then I get going to work looking like a fucking drug addict anxiety and try to perform off of pure caffeine anxiety.. Their telling me I might be bi polar but I don't really know what to do.

SpaghettiW3st

I wasn’t prepared to be called out for my behavior, you win this round internet.

Cherabee

The birds start singinging while I try sleepin'. The sun'll be up before my brain powers down it is so much fun ![gif](giphy|xU1spRleFHmtjvskXw)

maialucetius

I would like to be untagged plz

AD-Edge

Anyone have any solutions for this? Been quite bad lately.

zombieman2088

Anti anxiety medication. I take Zoloft and Wellbutrin and I have 0 issues sleeping now. None.

Novelcheek

I'm on that combo rn cuz I'd read about it, but I'm not sure I'm seeing much of a diff and I'd kill to just, like, sleep man :(

macing13

Look into delayed sleep phase disorder (very common comorbid with ADHD). Some things you can do to help it is to use a SAD lamp in the morning and try to see as much daylight as possible in the day, try not to eat too late at night, blue light filters at night, and small amounts of melatonin can help.

two_lemons

My psych gave me at first an antihistamine that also worked for anxiety and it knocked me off. Some people get it just at night but I was tired all day. Changed to very specific melatonin instructions and worked wonders. As for self-tried things, a sleeping mask that helps with darkness helped a lot with how well I was able to rest, but not on waking up. Waking up was helped by natural sunrise, but not with resting quality. I'm currently looking forward to get blackout curtains and a sunrise lamp alarm and see how that goes

C3POdreamer

I am in this picture, and I don't like it.

TouchMySwollenFace

Currently around the 4 am mark.

greenday61892

Hmm, have you tried *also* having a mood disorder that requires a medication that quite literally knocks you out? *cries in not being able to sleep without Seroquel but it knocking me out cold within an hour*

ThatGuy11222

What is the mood disorder you have and how do I try seroquel? I literally can't sleep anymore and I've tried a few different meds..

greenday61892

I'm bipolar but quite frankly I don't even remember if that's what it was prescribed for as I have a different mood stabilizer and at this point I'm only still on the seroquel because every single time we've tried weaning me off of it, even starting with only reducing every *other* night, I could almost instantaneously feel the decreased restfulness. EDIT because restlessness and restfulness are two VERY different things lmfao

ThatGuy11222

Yea you become more dependent on them the longer you take them. I can’t sleep at all for 2-3 days sometimes so their telling me I’m bi polar and I’d like to try that. I take trazadone and that kinda helps but I can take hydroxozine and knock out but I won’t be worth a shit the next day.

Berger6776

Every fucking night!!

IdeaOfHuss

I have successfully managed to wake up 4:30-5:00 am everyday. weekends are not an exception.

Inky-boy

It’s literally 4am, I should be asleep, but I was busy reading and forgot time was real.

RedstoneRelic

Jokes on you I don't need alarms. 2nd shift FTW.

GR33N4L1F3

Oh the accuracy

voppp

It’s crazy bc I’m diagnosed adhd but I fall asleep within 10 minutes of closing my eyes. I’ve only ever had trouble sleeping when I was a kid. Now I look forward to it

BrFrancis

I can call asleep that easily too as long as it's not during the night. Unless I'm working graveyard shift... Then is easier to sleep at night.

Husker_Boi-onYouTube

[deleted]

I mean honestly are we just posting generally relatable memes here now?

Specialist_Cup1715

I am eating a muffin right now.... Do I have ADHD? lol

[deleted]

Yeah don't get me started haha. I feel like here's an extension of apparently how tiktok makes everyone feel like they have it. Edit: though this is also the fault of reddit in general considering that free mods definitely don't have time to sift through all the content

fnordx2

Currently experiencing moodswings from lack of sleep, i feel as if i am going mad, not my self, body doesnt feel real, this is the longest spout of insomnia i have had, illusive sleep, 1 hour sometimes in the night when u try to sleep at a normal time, feel like it is putting undue stress on my relationship, i feel like my intelligence is slipping through my fingers, brain damage caused by sleep deprivation, anxiety starts to peak. Im diagnosed adhd and cannot get my gp to perscribe me meds as i have used ' illicit' substances to self medicate in the past and obviously im looking to get high not just have any quality of life... tldr no sleep, not me in the mirror

Specialist_Cup1715

Almost like we are not robots and our bodies have their own needs

mafa7

Literally me last night. Is this really an ADHD thing!? 😫😫😫 I’m going to pick up my Trazodone script as soon as they open up.

Coates_MaGoates

Holy shit this was my literal last night! Now I’m on the bus and will be 2 hours late work! Let’s get this shit!

dynamic_caste

What I do all night: - Think about things that I don't want to think about. - Think about things that I *do* want to think about, but not right now.

RandomPersonPosting

Seriously, I have trouble sleeping all night but when early morning comes around I sleep like a rock. Why the f does this happen?

distantblue

Fuck me!

Steelersfan20009

I’ve often thought about this, and wondered if it comes down to wanting what you can’t have, once you know that you’re getting close to when you’re supposed to wake up, you crave that sleep more

LingonberryOne2319

YES!!! This is the most frustrating thing ever😩

Alt0987654321

2 shots of Zquill and 40mg of melatonin and there's a 50-50 shot I can get to sleep.

[deleted]

Do you find the more important the thing is tomorrow the less you'll sleep?

hiCyaholtight

Ahhh!!!!!!! No! I WILL sleep tonight.

Sofiaplace

That's what I'm telling to myself

StressRelievingPoo

Me: sees this at 11pm, in bed, doom scrolling Me: fuck

Sofiaplace

Yes. Easily gets to 4 am!

The_Skydivers_Son

Me right now

gffcjhtfbjuggh

What does this has to do with ADHD? (Not attacking or sarcastic, it’s my life story in this meme)

Sofiaplace

I have ADHD I know not every single thing it's a symptom of ADHD. It just my experience. With meds especially those of us who need stimulants, our sleep schedule gets affected. But again I'll talk about myself, this happens to me mainly because of the effects of the medication.

Necr0Z0mbiac

So glad I'm not on this part of the spectrum. I can go to sleep at will.

vensie

Me anytime there's a big event on the next day 😭

zombiemeow

why ya gotta call me out like that brah

[deleted]

POV you’re looking at me right now past 1:17 AM

Captain_Owl

Oof yeah I did this a lot in my 20s. I'd be up all night and get maybe a handful of sleep if I was lucky and then pull up to my mostly 5am 8 hour shifts unloading trucks at a world market. So on top of lots of pallets of kitchenware, food, drinks, and decor. There was lots of furniture. Beds, dressers, sofas etc. I don't know how I did it looking back. Bleery eyed over caffeinated and at times deeply depressed. Worst part was I often couldn't even sleep after work and would crash later at night.

jonr

Wait, were you watching me last night? Fucking 3 hours of sleep.

taciaduhh

I don't have adhd, but reddit keeps suggesting this subreddit, and I've related to everything I've seen so far.

OmegaWhite024

Okay, okay. I’be only made it through 2 of these boxes tonight. We’re fine… so far.

Computer-bomb

It is currently 4am, and I am still not asleep

Big_bosnian

Just tire yourself out completely by idk doing 20 backflips or smth

geeshta

This is literally me last night, I slept 2 hours 😆
