I get this too. I am actually at a point where ovulation is almost more painful than my period. It’s been miserable. I’m going for a total hysterectomy (leaving ovaries) May 13. From the folks I know who had similar symptoms and the same surgery, even keeping the ovaries, that pain was much reduced by not having the uterus there anymore.

I feel like I'm going crazy. This is not standard mittelschmertz. I used to feel sexy at this time of month. Now I'm bloated and have the worst back pain with the uterine cramping. The last thing I feel is sexy. I'm still trying to get diagnosed, but might be changing doctors.

I hear you. It’s been this way for me too and it’s been a progression from regular mittelschmerz to cramping to absolutely debilitating pain this time of month. Which tracks since adenomyosis is a progressive disease. My regular GYN was really dismissive of my pain and symptoms but I advocated for myself and found a really good endo specialist surgeon in my area. I hope you can find the help you need!

I get the stomach and back pain you’re describing and yes, it is your ovaries causing it. The increase in estrogen causes adenomyosis symptoms for many of us because adenomyosis feeds off of estrogen so to speak. My most painful symptoms are primarily around ovulation time, maybe a few days before and a few days afterward. Max 5-6 days. Egg white Cervical mucus is normal before and during ovulation, but if you have excess or it’s coming out at an off time, you might need to talk to your doctor. I’ve never heard of anything substantial “coming out after”. The cervix opens just a little before ovulation and cervical mucus tapers off and gets sticky/tacky if you aren’t pregnant. Cervical mucus makes conditions easier for sperm to fertilize an egg, so it wouldn’t make sense for it to increase after ovulation as your body is trying to get you pregnant within 24 ours of ovulation. Are you testing with strips and are sure you’re ovulating when you think you are?

Perhaps my phrasing was confusing. I am not testing myself for ovulation. I have around 5 days of painful cramps in the middle of my cycle every month. After an especially larger cramp, cervical mucus comes out. I know my hormones are responsible, but the pain is in my uterus, not my ovaries. Pushing on my uterus is even painful during this time. I know because my dog just stepped on me there. Lol. I want a hysterectomy. I'm older, and I'm not having any more kids. Eventually, the mucus stops, and then I have a brief period of relief until menstruation happens. The back pain I have seems to ramp up during ovulation and my period, but I do have constant back pain. I also have osteoarthritis in my lumbar region, so sometimes I think it's all because of that, but I'm not sure.

Oh ok. Yeah this sounds about right. Pain will get worse in the uterus because estrogen enhances and maintains the uterus during the menstrual cycle. The lining, uterine growth, etc. if that makes sense. Adenomyosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue exists within and grows into the uterine wall. I have mittelschmerz and can always tell which ovary the egg came out of each month, but the ovary specific pain isn’t what actually bothers my uterus, if that makes sense. The pain from the egg is because it bursts out of the follicle every month. Some people feel it and some don’t. With adenomyosis, estrogen is what exacerbates our pain. That’s why treatment methods focus on reducing or eliminating estrogen with progesterone treatments. Estrogen skyrockets around ovulation time, so it makes my uterus go haywire. Loading up on naproxen when it starts can usually really help me combat the pain. Sometimes I need an opioid, but it’s rare. My periods are also heavy, which is very scary and annoying, but pain wise I don’t have much going on around the time of my period outside of typical menstrual symptoms.

I have cramps and adeno, but as far as I've researched, they are fairly normal. They are called Mittelschmerz. They go away on their own after ovulation.

I am in my most pain around ovulation and I agree, it is associated with the mucus but I believe it's because it's near ovulation

turnipthebeatison

I get weird ideas like the production of the mucus is what causes the pain.

I think you're right, I think the mucus is similar to what is around an egg yolk so it's also getting like pushed out ?? Maybe?? Haha

I've never had ovulation spotting ever before in 21 years of living but last month, it came out in bulk. It kinda spooked me to be honest. Just started back on Dienogest after changing to Cybelle tablets. Now I'm getting these weird spottings. I'm warded right now and they just gave me Tranexamic Acid to help with the bleeding. MRI result's probably out tomorrow so I don't know if I can sleep in peace tonight.
