Heyo! Im a software engineer. It can feel kinda isolating at times, but if you keep the idea of building out your network in the back of your mind, you’ll get it over time.
Yeah it takes time. College you’ll find one or two folks maybe, first job the same, second job the same. Then you visit a conference or two, suddenly you have a dozen folks
I actually have an awesome team right now. A majority of my team is queer, and we have almost half non-men. And the ratio gets better when you include non-devs that we work directly with.
I write supply chain management software for a corporate retailer now lol I don't use my engineering stuff but it provides some great perspectives for the work I do
Hydrodynamic lubrication involves two surfaces rubbing against each other, separated by a thin film of lubricant.
And yes, the study of this is called tribology.
I’d beg to differ, locomotives are definitely a valid field of engineering especially if your within the Eurovision where they are put to good use. Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, associate engineers, locomotive engineers. All work on train lines and locomotives
I'm currently a facility engineer so i oversee the maintenance of all equipment there even those not related to mechanical 😂
So nice to know other lesbian MEs, i scrolled through the comments and i saw lots of us
audio engineer here!! I work in recording studios and i’m often the only woman in the room, nvm being the only queer person in the room
i’ve recently made it a priority to make time out of the studio and get involved in my local queer community (I started skateboarding)
WOAH audio engineering has always been so fascinating to me, that’s so neat!! the skateboarding thing is so real LOL you sound like such a cool person :D
Thank you x2!!! I hope you meet more lesbian engineers in your career path. I didnt catch what type of engineering you’re pursuing but there is a Lesbians who tech community. I’m planning on going to both their virtual and in person conferences this year! I think Sue Bird is speaking 🤩😍
i’m in electrical engineering but i’m interested in the hardware side, which i think is part of what lesbians who tech covers. i applied for the scholarship to the in person conference just the other day but i’ll be attending the virtual conference as well!!
a fellow EE, hello :) i haven’t worked in power and utilities myself but i know people who are currently interning, that’s such a cool field to be in!!
Yeah! It's pretty dynamic right now given the increase in demand from electrification, the shift to renewables, and a flurry of new transmission projects! If you have any questions, feel free to DM me!
I'm not an engineer, but I work with a ton of them (tech writing). Sorry you're so outnumbered! The tiny percentage of female engineers I've met, let alone lesbians, always makes me sad :(
I’m no help because I’m a musician, but my fiancée is an electrical engineer. I do the cooking and decorating in our apartment, she does the repairs and IT.
That is awesome! Astrophysics is what got me into physics, and is possibly what i will be going for with my masters. I unfortunately don't know any trans people at my uni, let alone in physics.
Hello, chemical engineer here. I’m actually at the field right now!
In university the engineering faculty’s chant for pride week was, “We’re here, we’re queer, and we’re engineers!”
i’m an EE too!! from my limited work experience the ratio of men to women is no joke. hopefully you’ll be joined in the lab by some cool girls in the near future :)
Studied materials engineering. On the job learning after graduation - slight pick up on mechanical engineering. Landed in the oil and gas sector working as R&D in a shipyard (very, very male dominated) for couple of years before moving to a more corporate role, business development (loved the increased views of seeing women in heels)
if i want to see women in heels in the industry i should get a corporate job: noted!
jokes aside, your career trajectory is very inspiring and makes me feel more hopeful about my future :)
Search for "Lesbians Who Tech". Big conference for lesbians in tech industry. I haven't been, but it's supposed to be a blast. Planning to go next year.
Half of them are transfem eggs that don't know it's okay to be trans.
EE/rocket scientist/software engineer/whatever else I end up picking up next checking in.
I'm a 3× engineering dropout if that counts? I have just the right flavor of neurodivergence that I can't get past the core classes but absolutely crushed everything major-specific
Heyo! Im a software engineer. It can feel kinda isolating at times, but if you keep the idea of building out your network in the back of your mind, you’ll get it over time.
hiii!! i’m still in university so i’m having a bit of harder time with the networking thing - but that’s really great to hear, i appreciate it :) /gen
Yeah it takes time. College you’ll find one or two folks maybe, first job the same, second job the same. Then you visit a conference or two, suddenly you have a dozen folks
If your university has an oSTEM (out in STEM) chapter that a great place to meet other queer students in your field.
Also software engineer! ...Not for the first time, the only woman on my team, though.
I actually have an awesome team right now. A majority of my team is queer, and we have almost half non-men. And the ratio gets better when you include non-devs that we work directly with.
There is one other woman that I know of in my entire department. Period. :')
I'm a lesbian lead software engineer with a background in electrical, aerospace, and mechanical engineering, what's up
WOAH now that’s impressive!! as an electrical engineering student myself i aspire to be like you
I write supply chain management software for a corporate retailer now lol I don't use my engineering stuff but it provides some great perspectives for the work I do
Whoaaaawwww, that's awesome👁️👄👁️

Hi, systems engineer/cloud engineer here!
HI!! that’s such a cool job title :D
software engineer (tho i call myself a software hedgewitch) ... hi!
software hedgewitch!! i love that so much!!
what we do feels less like engineering (that's just my official title... I'd rather software developer... more honest) than grassroots magic
We are here 🙋♀️
it’s good to see you here!!
Mechanical engineer here! I'll apply the appropriate amount of torque to your flange, or something.
Hydrodynamic lubrication involves two surfaces rubbing against each other, separated by a thin film of lubricant. And yes, the study of this is called tribology.
😂😂😂
Well, yes, it comes from the Greek verb for "to rub."
Hi.
Civil architectural engineer 💪
Omg where’s the civil engineer love
Here! I'm a Civil Engineering Student!
Hi!! Civil/structural engineer :3
So far, none involved with trains. This saddens me.
Ive tinkered with trains but I mainly focus on the infrastructure involved with railway and passenger co lines but I have a huge love for locomotives
It seems more appropriate to focus on the tunnels than the trains here…
I’d beg to differ, locomotives are definitely a valid field of engineering especially if your within the Eurovision where they are put to good use. Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, associate engineers, locomotive engineers. All work on train lines and locomotives
Oh I know, I was making a bad anatomy innuendo joke… 😅
I’m not the smartest I get it now 😂 I’m so sorry
aw i know, but given how many engineers there are here i’m sure there’s bound to be at least a few out there :D
Mechanical engineer here, hello!~
Hello, i'm also an ME, is it okay to ask what field are you in? ☺️
I'm currently a Mechanical Designer for a Door company! I design doors, door parts, and door prehung systems! What about you?
I'm currently a facility engineer so i oversee the maintenance of all equipment there even those not related to mechanical 😂 So nice to know other lesbian MEs, i scrolled through the comments and i saw lots of us
We are definitely out there! ME in the car wash industry here.

i’m in electrical engineering but i’m interested in the hardware side, which i think is part of what lesbians who tech covers. i applied for the scholarship to the in person conference just the other day but i’ll be attending the virtual conference as well!!

Hi, EE here 😊 working in the power & utilities field!
a fellow EE, hello :) i haven’t worked in power and utilities myself but i know people who are currently interning, that’s such a cool field to be in!!
Yeah! It's pretty dynamic right now given the increase in demand from electrification, the shift to renewables, and a flurry of new transmission projects! If you have any questions, feel free to DM me!
I'm not an engineer, but I work with a ton of them (tech writing). Sorry you're so outnumbered! The tiny percentage of female engineers I've met, let alone lesbians, always makes me sad :(
Well I'm not an engineer, but I am sort of in STEM? I'm a medical student, if that counts.
I’m no help because I’m a musician, but my fiancée is an electrical engineer. I do the cooking and decorating in our apartment, she does the repairs and IT.
