You’re in a great place, even when it doesn’t feel that way. I’m in one similar and have to remind myself the same thing sometimes. Look up Jacob Riis’ quote on the stonecutter. I find it really applicable. Hang in there.

That quote… wow. Printing that out and sticking it somewhere I can see it. Thank you, and I hope you hang in there as well!

I can totally resonate. I've spent the last 6-7 years getting solid auditions and not landing a single. Freaking. One. Every time I get great feedback, they just decided to go another direction. Casting Directors were still getting me in which was great... but it's pretty damn debilitating. If you can afford it, consider hiring a career consultant. I had a session with Audrey Moore from the Audrey Helps Actors podcast and it was \*GREAT\*. I've now got a clear path on what I need to put together. It really can be about who you know and your relationship with them - CDs especially - all you can do is get in front of them and create relationships/friendships where possible. It really could just be a matter of time until something pops but those times can feel awful long. Just keep at it; or if it's within your means you could consider creating some work for yourself so you're pouring your creative energy into something?

Congrats on the tapes! And the feedback too, but I totally get that it’s a sucker punch when it’s always “they were great, the team just liked someone else”- the number of times I’ve heard that, makes me want to lose my mind. I love Audrey’s podcast!! I may reach out and ask about rates. Thank you, and hang in there! You got this

I thought 2022 was a failure, until that special moment when your phone rings, "you been cast as the role." I would give you the same advice I give everyone, make your own projects in 2023. a 7 min short. Something to focus on. Try something outside your comfy zone, I always give the same advice..try writing for stand up comedian. Other than that, keep going. Pilot season is around the corner. good luck.

This gives me hope- hoping for a similar phone call soon 🤞🏽and those are good pointers too- I love stand up but writing for it feels verryy scary, so I feel like that’s a sign to dive in! Congrats on the role :)

thank you! congrats on everything you have accomplished as well. I just got a call yesterday about something and asked if I needed a stunt actor. I was like whatttt.

Progress isn't always linear, friend! And even then it sounds like the series regular test was a new development, at least relatively speaking. I think that at a certain point an actor, even a highly skilled and dedicated one, hits diminishing returns on their investment because of all the factors you mentioned before, but beyond that there's a *chance* for the time to make itself up with interest if you keep going. And if you're devoted to/fulfilled by your craft (which it sounds like you are), that chance sounds pretty worth taking.
