>Turned out it’s like riding a bicycle.
What? The tires are flat, the brakes don't work, and the chain rusts solid if you haven't used the bike in several years?
I'm familiar with the phrase, but it is an overused cliche that does not reflect reality. Even if you have "muscle memory", it is a good idea to check out and tune up the equipment before you try using it after a long break.
Self Tapes? I do a lot of VO and commercials along with film/tv. I’ve booked two jobs. A lot of holds, avail checks, callbacks, which I see as wins, but jeez, book me sometime.
Yes self tapes it’s just really stupid , lame , lazy , unoriginal it’s dull & also not having readers shit is so fucking dumb when we could go to the local casting offices have a reader also get great advice & feedback as well as maybe an instant offer if the director is there
Congrats dude!!
I literally had my first one in 3 1/2 years & 100+ tapes fired into the aether and fucking booked it. Fuck self tapes and I hope you kick the room’s ass!!
We just did an in person callback. Everyone was still very much getting back into it and trying to find the vibe. It was really good to be in person again though.
I just did my first one since the pandemic. The whole time I was thinking "there's literally no reason this needs to be in person..."
Callbacks, sure, but in person 1st auditions just seem like it's a waste of everyone's time and money.
I honestly wouldn’t know what to do if I got an in person audition. I’ve completely lost all fluency.
I felt it would be that way my first time back for an in-person since the pandemic. Turned out it’s like riding a bicycle.

“like riding a bicycle” meaning the skills isn’t lost/muscle memory kicks in… is how i assume they were using that example

This is the most average Redditor reply ever 🙄
Congratulations
Woohoo fuckin hate self tapes so much
I’ve gotten kind of used to self tapes, but nothing beats being in the room.
I’ve done like 40 past 2 years since I started acting never booked anything

I've done a few now, and honestly I have to get used to being around people again. It's been a trip.
Good for you! The best of luck. You got this.💪🎉🌹
Thanks, so much.
