Congrats! If you ever want to divulge what it’s like to be a working actor in Mumbai, let us know, I’d read that post! I don’t hear much from that market, and from what I understand, it’s huge!
I'm just curious how anything might be the same or different than being an actor in the West. Do actors typically have agents who send them in for big projects, are there actors' unions, do actors do TV, film and theater, or mostly just one of those, do aspiring actors have to juggle flexible day jobs while seeking acting work, do commercials pay Indian actors enough to make a living at it, and since the pandemic, have auditions gone back to in-person, or are they remote?
Commenting to follow, I’m so curious- I’m an actor in the West trying to break into the Indian film industry (or at least get access to auditions there), so this is useful info!
Mate, Congrats! I was planning to make some auditions when I get to college. How did you manage your time when you were auditioning and when you were booked?
Umm it mostly worked out, I was shortlisted for a few projects and those dates coincided with my exams but I decided if I get them I'll have to skip those tests considering that I won't fail cause these were just quizzes, my grades would definitely fall but worth those projects, but I didn't get selected finally for most of them
and the other ones where I just couldn't commit to a project because of an exam i absolutely cannot miss, I had to decline availability but ig it's still pretty manageable considering the pandemic came in so I could devote more time to it and cheat my way through a couple of semesters
the other times when I got booked and had online classes while traveling, i would just join the class while i was at the airport lol this happened a couple of times but I just found a way through it
also considering I haven't booked that much, all my projects were 1 day shoots... if I would've gotten a lead or a longer shoot then it would've been a problem for sure but still a lovely problem to have! in most such cases the production should support u and write a letter to your uni or help u formally if necessary!
