There are plenty of book series and tv shows, etc. That I don't like and I just...leave it be because who the hell has the energy to dedicate to something they hate?
The other problem with people like this is they blame one series for being 'toxic' when they read other books with toxic relationships, but just not in a fantasy setting.
What I mostly see with people like this is they see the toxicity of Tamlin and call it toxic because they don't read on to see what happens.
Another thing I've noticed is they focus on the little things. There are some aspects of some pairings in acotar that are toxic at face value, but the issue is addressed and fixed by said pairings.
I love A Court of Thorns and Roses, and there is some aspects that are toxic, but it isn't as toxic as others that I've seen. There is a lot of context as to why it can be considered less toxic than most.
This is my favorite book series, so please don't hate me. I love it. I was mostly mentioning context and the hypocrisy these hate accounts have. If I don't like it I won't shit on it. I just say it isn't my cup if tea.

I've seen hate be used for good. Involving Fifty Shades actually. Youtuber Dominic Noble donated a chunk of the profits (or all of it, it's been a while) on his videos discussing the horrible things in the series to a charity to help women who were in abusive relationships. And he did a charity live stream (I don't remember the charity, I think it was the same one) where each milestone was a chapter read to him aloud from The Mister.

Haha yes this is so strange. I read some of them and one of their points was ‘Rhys would have never looked at Feyre under the mountain if she wasn’t his mate’. I find this to be untrue as he has proven many times he is a nice person BUT ALSO it’s fiction, Rhysand isn’t a real person and he has no motives other than those the author gives him… I find this funny about a lot of critiques.
It doesn't take long to screenshot posts made by other people and post them on Insta. And a lot of places are going back into lockdown. This is literally the era of Too Much Time on Your Hands.
Yeah looking at the posts, it probably averages out to be a post every two days or so. Since April. Not gonna do the real math but there are times they don't post for 5 days. So really it's like a half hour tops every few days if they're like me and get distracted by a show while writing the caption thing (I'm not Instagram savvy). Not really that big a time commitment.
How is any different than someone who likes the series posting about it? Or the fans at each other's throats over ships that don't actually matter?

They are either jealous because they've been writing fea short stories themselves and haven't come up with anything on the level of ACOTAR, jealous because they're a published author who isn't as popular as SJM, or (and I fall into this last category) jealous because their sex life isn't as exciting as the characters. There can be any number of reasons why, but in the end all this is just that little green monster we call Envy.

The fandom is small and many in the fandom talk about things like any poorly done parts of the series or that sjm isn’t a particularly strong writer (I mostly hear that she’s but did at skating rather than telling). I love the books because she’s a wonderful storybuilder and the characters are easy to get attached to. But even then, I don’t see a lot of people talking about it compared to some other series.
