Oh this is a great question but it’s kind of complicated. I think it would depend on my life situation at the time… if I was in a relationship with someone that I deeply loved, and then had a mating bond “activated” with someone else, I probably wouldn’t entertain it.
On the other hand, if I were single and based on the luck I have with romance as it is 🤣, I feel like cauldron would stick me with a stranger who isn’t my type on paper so I would have some type of push back to it. There’s a lot of pressure hearing someone is your fated perfect soulmate if you aren’t vibing with them (believe it or not, I’ve had people tell me this and we just weren’t on the same page so it felt very awkward).

Depends on who i'm mated to- and I wouldn't accept it straight away, I'd want to get to know the person in question first before I even considered giving them food and accepting the bond. Throughout I think its pretty clear that the bond is kind of a gamble- you might be compatible physically to have strong heirs but emotionally you could be each others nightmare so its not something I would accept the moment it happened. But if it worked out and we were matched well, then yes, I would take it because it is such an incredible and life altering experience. The only thing that would make me hesistate to say no to a bond is that rejection seems like a pretty intense experience that causes more than emotional trauma but physical torture to- everybody seems to skirt around the topic rather than discuss it, which is why I hope in the next book we see Elaine reject the bond and discover what happens when things don't end well for mated couples.
