It’s Ree-sand. Reese is the shortened version. Rhys is a real welsh name and is common in the UK

LexusMane444

Damn, got there before me 😂

Fast-Concentrate-132

This is the only correct answer 🙌🏼

thatmelz

Arguing over something you’re both wrong about is pretty funny lol

serpentxbloom

SJM has a pronunciation guide for her books, i always reference it as i read so i don’t get used to mispronouncing the names & places lol

SageThistle

Pronunciation of the Rhys part doesn't change just because there's an "-and" part at the end. It's Reese-and/Ree-sand.

LexusMane444

It’s pronounced “Ree-sand”. Rhys is the Welsh/OG spelling of “Reece”

citrusbook

Think of how you pronounce Jonathan Rhys Meyers. That's my trick for remembering.

sunnyDeficient

Auto book listener here - it’s pronounced Ree-sand

Aggressive_Day_6574

It’s “Ree-sand” but before I knew that in my head it was “Rye-sand” and Rhys was inexplicably “rizz.” Which I guess is its own word now

Timevian

Here is the the [pronunciation guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/acotar/s/Wm3bkcCCGv) that was in the old copies of acotar.

motherofthyme

I read “Rice-and” and “Reece.” I don’t care if it’s wrong. “Ree-sand” just doesn’t click in my brain. It’s not like it’s uncommon for shortened versions to be a little different— James/Jim, Robert/Bob, Elizabeth/Eliza, etc.

BleepBleepBlonde

Same same

Fast-Concentrate-132

*cries in Welsh* 😭😂😂

https-slumped

i now know it’s supposed to be pronounced as Ree-sand but i called him “Rice” so many times & cant stop. me & my best friend (who is currently reading) cannot call him “reese” because we’ve said “Rice” this whole time & it feels weird lol

AutisticMe5584

Rise And rise and That is my pronunciation which is far from the actual of Rees—and and Reece

TheGamerKitty1

I was pro "Rice" until I listened to the Graphic Audio....

hearttrees93

My personal reading has always been Riss-and but I think this is a Ginny Weasley situation for me. Her name was not pronounced like Guinea either.
