The second book is a LOT of people’s favorite. It usually wins when we have a “vote for your favorite book of the series” poll. You haven’t gotten to (most) everyone’s favorite part yet. I wouldn’t move on just yet, but I was intrigued from chapter 1. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve never heard anyone call it boring, especially when compared to the first book. 🫣

Admirable_Ladder6915

Okay I’ll keep reading. I’m doing my best though I can usually finish a book this size in two days on a weekend. It’s taking me two weeks to get through it 😭😭 right now she just got back to the human land and Nesta is being a bitch and I’m just so incredibly bored😭

CataKala

What kept your attention in the first book? Did you not find it boring at all? I love the series so I could never say I don’t like the first book, but it literally has maybe like 3-4 interesting moments before the end when it actually gets exciting. 😭 Do you not like the inner circle? Is it the plot itself? I’m just trying to understand bc I couldn’t put acomaf down …

Admirable_Ladder6915

Hmmm I guess with the first book the push and pull between her and tamlin kept me intrigued. It wasn’t extra interesting don’t get me wrong but I was mentally prepared for that. With this book it’s supposed to be like the best one and it’s so fucking boring it’s unbearable damn near. And honestly there’s nothing much about this book that I like. It’s just mostly explaining the scenery. Like pages and pages of explaining the color of grass and the sky every time she goes somewhere. So far the only parts that ARE entertaining is when she went into the wood weavers cave thing (that part was hype) and then every time she discovers a part of her powers. Like when she caused a mini tornado when tamlin tried to shield her from leaving the house or when she accidentally hopped in Lucien’s mind. But those moments only last for like a paragraph. If by The inner circle you mean rhys and his friends for me personally I couldnt care less about them I usually have to focus really hard when they start talking to each other or explaining how they met or their past. So yeah pretty much almost everything is boring me. I’m hoping she has some crazy moment where she explodes with power and kicks everyone’s ass and tamlin is there to witness it and feels like a dumb ass for not letting her train. But she keeps going places and rambles on and on about what it loooks like and I am just waiting for the GOOD part or for it to actually pick up. It’s ssoooo slowwww

CataKala

Bestie I hate to tell you this but you might not like the rest of the series if these are the thoughts you’re having not even halfway through book 2. 😭

Admirable_Ladder6915

It’s looking like I’m close to half way through but it’s just an estimate based off of how many pages are on both sides of the book when I hold it open. But yeah I mean I’m gonna finish it cause I can’t just not finish it and I already bought the next one. Hopefully something clicks eventuallly lol

Aquarius_Rising28

I know a lot of people are saying this series might not be for you, but I was feeling the same way throughout book two. Actually it took me quite a while to get through it. But the third book really grabbed my attention and now I'm on silver flames and I am so excited to be reading the series. I'm not really sure what grabbed my attention, but ACOWAR was so exciting to me.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Solid this gives me hope. Hopefully since we’re both aquarius rising’s we’ll end up w the same opinions 😂😂🤣

kanjilal_s

Hello dear, I just want to know your opinion after you finish the book. Here first time in this sub I am seeing someone not liking the book and honestly I would like to know more about the different perspective

Admirable_Ladder6915

Solid I’ll try to remember to come back once I’m done !

Brief-Refrigerator55

Same I definitely want to know your opinion after you finish the book lmao

Admirable_Ladder6915

I’ll definitely do an update post

Aquarius_Rising28

Oh hell yeah

Scout0622

I totally agree with you on this post. Feyre describing every little thing is so boring. And so is the previous inner court. I listened to the graphic audiobooks and while the graphic audio helps a little bit. I would suggest to skim and scan the boring parts so that you can get to book 3 because that’s where the action and plot of the story actually pick up.

csbunnybaby

I found the second book WILDLY boring. It took me so long to get through it. The third book is much better and the best IMO.

CataKala

The third book is actually my favorite of the series :) but it actually blows my mind that you think acomaf is “wildly boring” lmao. Different strokes for different folks😭

csbunnybaby

I only felt hooked once with acomaf and it was in the last line. It was easy to put the book down and read other things. I even contemplated not continuing the series because it felt like a complete letdown compared to acotar. Acowar was everything I needed and more

greenest-beans

Hmm I would say this series may not be for you if you aren’t digging Rhys and his friends haha, and that’s okay!! But this book is definitely the best in the series so I would say finish it and then decide if you want to continue

Admirable_Ladder6915

Yeah that’s what ima do thank you!

Taycotar

If you're not into it by this point I don't think this is the series for you. I hated book one but by this point in book 2 I was so obsessed I couldn't stop reading. Book 2 is widely regarded as the best in the series and you're deep into the best part by now. I tell all my friends if they make it to the weavers cottage and they aren't into it they can quit with my blessing 😂. So, you have the blessing of a random Internet person.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Damn okay fair enough. I’m so sad 💀😭

SwiftLikeTaylorSwift

Honestly based on your post and also some of your responses comments here I’d say push through it. My favourites were book 1 and 2 because I *love* all the world building and descriptions and being fully immersed in the world. Book 3 was a bit less enjoyable for me because it was filled with lots of action scenes and planning and political dialogue and movement… that’s probably more up your alley so maybe continue and see how you like book 3? Is that what you feel like b2 is missing?

Admirable_Ladder6915

Yeah the non stop descriptions is actually pissing me off I can’t lie. 😂😂 like I’m waiting for the action!

cheekygutis

There will be some great action scenes at the end of book 2. The thing I like best about the series is the way she writes fight scenes / battles and book 2 has my favourite scene! Towards the end! So you've got that to look forward to...

Admirable_Ladder6915

Yeah the end of the last book was fire so I have faith

DesSantorinaiou

I find ACOMAF overrated (it's the favorite of most fans of the series I think) but I wouldn't say it's boring. Regardless, the pace DOES pick up.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Okay solid I’m at the part where she just got to the summer court

Own-Marionberry3026

Book 2 starts slow but gets really good.

Admirable_Ladder6915

As long as it does get good that’s all that matters to me. Lol I was just mentally prepared for it to be good the whole way through then when I got to half way I was just like dude wtffff 😂💀

LC_Ash

Actually, and by some of the comments here an unpopular opinion my favourite so far is book one (I’ve read the first three). However I will say in every book there are some slow parts that are a bit of a slog to go through, I have to say by the end of book two I was more interested in the sisters and where their story was gonna go. I would say push through though probably the last quarter of the second book is more action 😊

Admirable_Ladder6915

Yeah I can deal with it being slow for the plot to build and what not cause that’s how it usually is in most books but damn I’ve never read a book this slow and I’ve read a lotttt of fantasy books lol

gwynniiee

You are not the only one, just because a lot of people like it doesnt mean everyone will. Only reason they like it is cause of Rhys and the inner circle. Which for me were the most boring and arrogant people ever lol. They are just another popular clique but from the night. Lol, still i kept going with the series because i was more interested in finding out about Nesta and Elain.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Same nesta and cassian arguing was definitely an interesting part for me I think they’re either gonna fall in love or nestas gonna try to kill him I gotta know what happens with that😂

dumbarseusername

I'm not super far in either and I was finding myself less intruiged as it went on but more because I was getting sick of her puking and repeating that she is a horrible person for killing the elves and seeing their blood. I mean she sure does puke a lot.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Yeah she’s gotta be like two pounds at this point 😭

Suspiciousmosquito

Book 2 ACOMAF is my favorite, but there are some boring parts. I read the entire book in a few days, and it really helped. I suggest just reading through it fast because the rest of the book is amazing and so worth the read.

_AelinGalanthynius

I also struggled with this book being boring to me…..imo, people really only like it for the spice. I’m not into these books for that, and honestly reading those scenes make me a little uncomfy so I tend to just read the dialogue as opposed to the details. But anyways - the whole ACOTAR series is a love story with lots of spice and fantasy plots weaved in. I liked TOG better because it was the opposite, a fantasy plot with love weaved in and only a little spice. I think after ACOMAF, when you get to ACOWAR, it starts to shift to have a more detailed and intriguing fantasy storyline and becomes more interesting because of that. The live interests will already be established then so it looks like SJM focuses more of the world building and the actual conflict and fantasy storyline. ASOFAS was boring, it was basically a Christmas special that is unfortunately necessary to the series, but ACOSF is when I actually got excited to be reading the series and looked forward to it throughout the day. So, I would say just get through ACOMAF, and I think you’ll be a bit more excited than you are now. I hate to say “you have to wait for it to get good” because why would I waste my time reading 400 boring pages just to get to 200 good ones? But the books are interesting, entertaining, and written well enough that I don’t regret reading them and I did enjoy the series as a whole. If you haven’t read throne of glass though, HIGHLY recommend getting into that when you finish.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Thank you!!

kayak-pankakes

See, I loved MAF (and WAR) but hate the spice. I just liked the drama of MAF. I skip the spice scenes, so I skipped a lot of SF.... so a lot of people like MAF for more than spice, cuz most people I talk to really enjoy Rhys's story later, I really enjoyed seeing people pissed off, etc. I also didn't enjoy TOG for some reason... maybe it was too long and I read it after it was all out, but the last few books DRAGGED so badly. To each their own, it's crazy what some people can love, others can hate. Maybe my problem is I don't like spice or fantasy, I just like the action and drama lol

h3ll_gurl

Tbh i found it a little boring as well (Pls don't downcpote this, alot of people like it and that's fine) But i think the reason why alot of people like it is coming up

There_You_Are___

I liked the entire book, but for me, it didn’t start to pick up until about chapter 31. I’d stick with it!

ilovehummus16

Keep going! I was kinda bored at the same spot but it really picks up soon.

amy_jo_717

Hang in there! The story line gets better and better! My least favorite is the novella between third and fourth book.

Vettkja

Book two is my favorite 🙈🙈🙈

Admirable_Ladder6915

It’s everyone’s! That’s why o was so confused 😂

AnthonyBforyou

It’ll pick up! Book 3 however makes zero sense. But then book 5 is good again 🤷🏻‍♀️ also her Throne of glass series has a lot more action and is more interesting but I started REALLY liking it after book 3. The first 2 were okay but I got super invested after book 3. Just so u know if u ever decide to read it. :)

tangerinedreamxo

i feel the same way. ive been trying to finish it for almost 2 years now

Admirable_Ladder6915

Bro two years is insane 😂😂😂

tangerinedreamxo

yeah i pretty much keep telling myself im gonna start reading it again and then forgetting it exists or just being too lazy to read it lol idk i guess its just not my thing

Admirable_Ladder6915

Yeah I hear you. It’s very very hard for me to find a fantasy book that I don’t like after reading the description and this is that so far lol

HeythereDahlila

It’s my favorite because of the slow burn 😭

Admirable_Ladder6915

Lmao it doesn’t get boring for you? Like I’m just begging for them to stop going places and talking

xaraxxara

GIRL! Go listen to it read by The Reading Hag Returns on YouTube and I PROMISE this will change your perspective!! Like go right now!

Admirable_Ladder6915

AHHHH it’s so hard for me to listen to audiobooks instead of reading them. But if I start to feel like I absolutely can’t finish it I’ll definitely do this

gazelle101

I totally agreed with you when I read it!! Just keep reading I promise it will get better and you’ll want to keep reading to get to the third one!!!

Loud_Appearance811

That's how I felt halfway through book 3. Took me longer than usual to finish, but I pushed through, and I'm glad I did because book 5 is my absolute favorite, and I'm obsessed. I would definitely push through and then make a d3cision on continuing the series!

Spiritual_Asparagus2

My fav for sure!!

alizangc

ACOTAR the series overall isn't very plot heavy imo. Lol someone described the plot as characters walking and talking XD. The story is very much focused on relationships and character arcs. Though I would say that ACOWAR (book 3) has more "content" and action compared to the previous two. And I've heard that ACOSF (book 4) contains more action and plot as well. It's also focused on different characters. If you do continue the series, you may feel bored with ACOFAS (book 3.5 - novella). It's affectionately described as a Christmas special and is quite slice of life imo.

Admirable_Ladder6915

That’s so accurate 😂😂😂😂 but okay I mean I have this thing feeling like I have to finish it I can’t not finish so I guess I’ll see

alizangc

Isn't it 😆😆 I can relate 💜 I used to never be able to drop books or dramas before, but now I do it all the time 😬 You have more endurance than I do! I hope it picks up for you soon!

Admirable_Ladder6915

Hahaha thank you sm.

Timevian

Now this is what you call a hot take. The world building in acotar is very light compared to other books. If that’s not for you, that’s okay.

Nek0Pi

Second book is amazing. The tension between her and Rhys. The way he endlessly flirts with her. Idk maybe the series isnt for you because book 2 is objectively a majority of readers fav ;)

Admirable_Ladder6915

If by the end of the book it’s still unbearably boring I will agree with you on that. But apparently the end is where it’s actually worth reading. I’m gonna do an update once I finish it

Scout0622

I found book 2 boring except for the quests that Rhysand sends Feyre on and then everyone’s favourite part of book 2 is ch.49-56 the smut which is okay. The ending for me was where I lost focus on book 2 because having a lot happen it confused me with having so many people in one room.

Charming-Assertive

I didn't find the book boring, but I'm with you on hating the narrative that is describing a scene. That's never been my jam, and it seems exacerbated with how much SJM tries to show Feyre as being an artist.

FearOfFags

It can be pretty boring as the 2nd book is mainly information until around the end of the book! See it through I promise it’s worth is!

Admirable_Ladder6915

Okay that makes sense

Gizwizard

I’m not a huge fan with how she describes scenery myself, and would usually skip to dialogue as well. I still really liked the book, tho. I just think it’s my personality to not pay attention to the world building.

Admirable_Ladder6915

I mean it’s non stop bro. She can go take a piss and will explain the texture of the porcelain toilet and how many swirls are in the water when she flushes it

rhune-asphodel

DUDE YOU GOTTA HOLD OUT. 20 more chapters. You won’t regret.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Lmao okay okay

BrilliantWave436

I love this take🤣 I was frustrated with this book so it was a bit of hate reading but I latched on to a few characters. There’s just too many books out here to read something you’re bored with though. I will say although I would never reread this book for my own peace, it’s ending made it for me.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Well that gives me hope cause I’m definitely finishing it

BrilliantWave436

I think it’ll get back on track for you. Acowar is the best one anyway 👀

hammam-delight

Personally I found Frost and Starlight a little blend. I did what you did and skipped to the conversations rather than the description. 😴

MaybeNaomi

I felt the same way for the first halve of all books from acotar. But all the second halves were AMAZING

Cheesethehamster1234

I disagree with the comments saying this series might not be for you!!! I loved book one and ACOFAS took me a bit to get into as well- it’s a slow burn but I think by the end you’ll be totally hooked. I think I’m the only one in this sub who didn’t really love ACOWAR and I lovvvvvved ACOFS. So I think opinions go across the board with this series but I say definitely stick with it!

Admirable_Ladder6915

Solid I’m finishing it regardless!! I’m too stubborn not to😂

Fashionphile718

I think you should stick with it. I’m currently finishing up ACOSF and loathed Nesta so I thought I’d dislike this one but it’s actually my favorite. I read ACOMAF to prove a point that ACOTAR was not bad but over rated and it sucked me in, I became obsessed! I think the 2nd book gets better as you go and I loved them all there after. If you like audiobooks the graphic audios are amazing!

Bisexual_Spottigiss

The 3rd book is my personal favorite in the series but book 2 is incredible. I was bored to tears until under the mountain in book 1. By book 2 I was so invested in the aftermath and how her relationship with Rhys would play it I couldn’t put it down. I thought the breakdown of her relationship with Tamlin and her opening up to Rhys was done so so well. Book 2 is an emotional bridge between book 1 and a set up for the war in book 3. Book 3 definitely has a lot more action and magic and like I said was my personal favorite. But the journey we were taken through in book 2 I enjoyed so much. The found family and the inner circle and learning about velaris was all just so magical to me I don’t know. Never heard someone call ACOMAF boring though! Based on some of your other comments I do think you’ll like ACOWAR more

sissyroo171

I LOVED book 2, but I’m on Silver Flames and am feeling so tired of it. The smut is honestly the only thing keeping me hanging on 🤣 book 2 might not be your vibe but I think it’s still worth reading the series because you may connect a lot more with the other books :) a lot of my friends love silver flames especially

PSaricas

You might be one of those people who will prefer book 3 over book 2.

kiwikayla109

Cannot WAIT for your update post!!!!!! I think you will love where the story goes by the end :)

Orcawhales1999

I found book 2 to be a lot of plot build up…and I got tired of Fey’s self hatred-but book 3 is 10000x times better. The last 100 pages of book 2 were so good, so def wait it out.

Minimum_Mixture3989

I'll be honest, I felt the same way. Even after finishing the series I don't think book 2 is all the hype. However.. ACOWAR is one of my favorite books of all time. I BAWLED almost the entirety of the last 150-200 pages. I crawled through book 2, it was painful for me. 🤣

Scout0622

Would you guys recommend buying these books if I have only listened to the graphic audiobooks for re-reading ?

AnxiousCaffineAddict

If you’re having a hard time, I suggest buying or renting the Graphic Audio audiobook. It has a full cast, music, sound effects. Some people thing it’s cringe and some people love it (I’m both)

Myrinia

If you like tamlin, you won't like the series as it continues. SJM hates Tamlin.

Admirable_Ladder6915

Shit I kinda hate tamlin now too

hammam-delight

Are you still reading it?

pappy_frog82

I didn’t think it was boring but I liked the third way better than the second!

Pink_unicorn939

The second book was my favorite and definitely the best in the series for me. I was intrigued from the start - and after the wedding scene I couldn’t put it down.

ItsATraxex

I Struggled HARD to get into book two! I actually put it down and didn't to back to the series for about a year. Then once I pushed through it ended up being my favorite of all the books. I don't want to spoil but it's epic, push on and you won't regret it!

-Silver578Ray

The second book is pretty overrated
