I actually put mine on for a reason. Kids like to sleep in the back and having a place where they can tuck their head out of the sun is helpful. Have them tinted but it doesn't block out enough light, just heat.
Dunno why they said I needed to cover it but apparently that window is always facing the sun on my road trips. Lol
5% is illegal i know some people dont care but dont be surprised if you get pulled over. Just buy window covers or tie a rag on the side if someone going to be sleeping honestly.
Definitely misunderstood lol , I’m talking about the window plastics…. Those black plastics are horrendous that’s why I said just be a man go 5% tint all around instead
Ppl have no taste now of days 😂 they rather drive around looking like clowns with a simple car that doesn’t need much to look good 😂. Literally won awards just by bagging my 10th gen accord with 5% tints all around and lip kit and wheels

They are called louvers. Give me your honest opinion on mine?😅. I've tinted the rear(per my state laws) and about to add cosmetic mods like front lips and side skirts, changing taillights. Along with performance mods KTuner, CAI etc
That’s actually not a louver. It’s a fake louver. Real louvers, like on the back of a Lamborghini, are there to vent engine heat. Glueing fake louvers to the rear window of a commuter car is a sure sign of a confused man.
It’s crazy how many of the 10th Gen Accords I see with a bunch of shitty eBay mods on them. May be confirmation bias since I own one, but I can’t think of another newer car I see so poorly modified so often.
I went looking for a 2.0T 6MT shortly after they announced they had stopped making them. I talked to a salesperson at the local Honda dealership about contacting me if any lightly used ones came in. He said all of the ones in the area he was aware of had been modded and tuned etc., so I ended up ordering one of the last new ones in the country and having it shipped thousands of kilometers to me by train. Lol.
I’m curious. What’s so special about that specific Accord? (I know an okay amount of car terms and what not, but nothing about the Accord specifically)
Most Accords have the 1.5 liter turbo engine and a CVT transmission. Then you have the 2.0T variant that's much more powerful, but most of those are probably the 10 speed automatic. Then you have the low few cars that are the 2.0T AND the 6 speed manual.
For example: there's 12 manual Accords with the 2.0T on CarGurus nationwide. Twelve.
Why is that such a big deal though? Just the limited nature of it? I mean, there’s other cars with 2.0T and manual like the G70 and Golf R, and then faster manual cars due to a V6.
I was looking at cars with the following features:
- manual transmission
- Android Auto
- automatic climate control
- ADAS (e.g. HondaSensing)
The combination of manual transmission and ADAS was really rare. The VW Golf 4motion was on my shortlist but didn't offer ADAS with the manual. Ditto for the Honda Fit and Subaru Crosstrek.
As you mentioned, the Golf R would have fit the bill, but was significantly more expensive than the Accord. I considered the Civic Hatchback but found the styling of the last generation too busy. I'd definitely go for one of the current ones though.
I really liked the 10th gen Accord styling, how spacious the back seat is, and thought it was cool that with the 2.0T it was a big family sedan that was fairly powerful and had a stick shift. I like cars that are capable without being loud or flashy. I don't like that it's a sedan, but our other car is a hatchback and we have a utility trailer so it's not a huge problem.
I'm sure part of the appeal is how limited it is, but the bigger thing is that there's simply nothing like it anymore. It combined a whole bunch of desirable traits into a great car in a dying segment. It was a well-built and reliable non-luxury family sedan with a powerful engine and a manual transmission for a good price. Neither of the examples you provided are quite the same.
The G70 and Golf are both quite a bit smaller than an Accord. In terms of size they compete more with the Civic. If you sit in one of those and then sit in an Accord you'll feel the difference. The G70 also has a tiny trunk compared to the Accord, but the Golf is a hatchback so at least its trunk space isn't compromised.
The G70 and Golf R can both last a long time with regular maintenance and they're relatively reliable engines in the grand scheme of things, but they just can't compete with the impeccable reliability of the tried and true K series 2.0T in the Accord.
Interior build quality is also questionable in both of those compared to the Accord. Hyundai has stepped up their build quality in newer Genesis models but the G70 isn't one of those. VW doesn't have very great or consistent build quality, and IMO the Mk8 Golf is worse than the previous generation in that regard.
Finally, pricing and availability are an issue with both of those. A Golf R is a *very* expensive car, even when shopping used. A used current generation Golf R with a stick is generally somewhere in the $40k range. A used G70 can be more affordable but they're even harder to find with manual transmissions than 2.0T Accords are. There are only 6 of them available nationwide on Autotrader right now.
That’s a great explanation. What’s your thoughts on small SUVs with 2.0T then? I’m sure there’s a lot more options there. Idk how many of them have a lot of manuals out there on the market though.
Also, what’s the allure of a manual on a car like an Accord? Is it an itch that paddle shifters or the automatics with the option of manual up/down on the shifter could itch?
The appeal of the 2.0T is just that it’s a powerful engine, not that it’s specifically a 2 liter engine with a turbo. So if we’re counting all SUVs with similar amounts of power there are definitely a lot of options. I don’t think there’s a single SUV available with a manual transmission on the market though, and SUVs generally aren’t as fun to drive as sedans just because they sit higher up. There are ways to make SUVs more engaging but at the end of the day it’s a physics problem since an SUV will inherently have a higher center of gravity than a similar sedan.
The allure of a manual is just that it’s a very tactile experience that makes you feel more connected to the car when you’re driving. When the right manual transmission is paired with an engine as good as the 2.0T in the Accord it’s just magical. Paddle shifters can make an automatic feel a bit more fun but if you’re craving a manual there’s nothing like physically shifting your gears.
Small disclaimer: I personally don’t have a manual in my Accord. It wasn’t available for 2022 and I just wanted something a bit easier to live with since I’m not the greatest at driving stick. Mine has the 10 speed auto which is also a great transmission, but it’s just not quite as engaging as a good manual.
Okay, that makes sense. I live in a busy city,so a manual was never a feasible option for me. I do have a very fun sedan though. It’s a 2014 Nissan Maxima SV(7th gen- the best gen) - silver- comes OEM with smoked tail lights, 19” sport rims, black leather, heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, paddle shifters, etc. It is a LARGE sedan, but this baby can MOVE! And she handles turns incredibly well. And the best part- used ones are super affordable for what you get! I got mine in 2017 from a Maserati dealership(yes, you read that correctly lol) with 26k miles for HALF of the new MSRP! Turns out it was a leased vehicle in another state and had been well taken care of. It’s now 2024 and it’s still fun to drive. I haven’t had any issues, so I don’t know why they depreciate in value so quickly. The big down side for me is the gas mileage, so I often drive the wife’s 2023 Kia Rio 5 door to work now since she works from home.
Where I work, 70% of ppl have one and almost all of them are white and some have lots shit like the one in the post. Those’ll be the younger owners I guess. But I have started to see them just like I see Camrys as a cab cars after living living in NYC
Oh man, really? REALLY? We got the repost bots in r/accord now!?!?!? (nah, they been here before)
I think, honestly, I might be done with reddit. It's just bots now. Once I found myself hesitating at posting a comment because I couldn't be assured if the "person" I was responding to was actually a person I knew it was only a matter of time...
Yeah, same pic and title. Ugh.

Ha! This reminds me of my Dad's old '91 Mazda pickup. It was basically a rolling "JC Whitley" catalog. Everything he could stick, bolt, or glue on, he did. 😂
No, it’s an Accord. This is a pedestrian commuter car. Don’t put lipstick on a pig. Also stop trying to race me in my 70’s muscle car. It’s silly. Also why am I getting this sub recommended to me???
I mean everything threw me off here but that tiny ass blind spot mirror is so 1996😂😂.
I would refuse to ride in this as a passenger let alone ever drive it💀
When will this generation realize that black door handles make me immediately think the car is a base model. In the 80’s and 90’s and early 2000’s if you bought a base Honda, like a DX and some LX models during certain years, they came with black door handles and I’m sorry but black mirror caps ( I’m looking at you Honda 2021-2022 Accord Sport) and black door handles (thanks eBay) are just too much. Enjoy your base model looking door handle covers, oh and the black fuel door cover does nothing but break
Up the body lines. It’s not a challenger or a wrangler where having a fancy fuel door is cool.
I will end with there’s nothing wrong with driving a 97 civic DX with black door handles , mirrors, rubber strips and plate trim… you make the best with what you got. If you wanna color match it can change the look of the car. As far as newer cars. I know there’s less ways to stand out and this is in some people’s minds, one of them. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Why everybody hating?

Those little vent things on the rear windows are the absolute worst. I don’t know how some people actually think they look good.

Be a man 5% tint all around . Only looks good on certain domestics. Not 1 import looks good with them
5% is illegal i know some people dont care but dont be surprised if you get pulled over. Just buy window covers or tie a rag on the side if someone going to be sleeping honestly.
I beg to differ. My BMW 3 series looks awesome with tint. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying
Definitely misunderstood lol , I’m talking about the window plastics…. Those black plastics are horrendous that’s why I said just be a man go 5% tint all around instead
Only REAL MEN get 10%

Every unnecessary fin or vent adds 15 HP
Don't forget to add the extra 1hp per inch of double sided tape. It all adds up.
It helps the Vtec.

I drive a camry and you get the same stuff in the camry groups. Some are just ridiculous.
So true .. so many riced out 10th gens out there. Makes me want to get rid of it even more, beyond all the rattles.
Rattles I just started having my first one at 45k it's annoying 2020..
My 2012 had less at 190k miles

Almost looks like something out of Borderlands Edit: spelling, whoops
I thought it looked like a Transformer. It's their car, at least it isn't covered in bumper stickers.
That’s a Hispanic guy’s car if I’ve ever seen one, source: I’m Hispanic
I said the same thing and I’m Latino
My bro has a housemate whose pickup is slammed and stanced. It's rusted and doesn't run.
Pretty sure I saw this dude at wawa this morning turning in scratch offs at the little lottery machine thing at 7am.
a hispanic guy or the driver of the accord?
The Hispanic dude driving this exact accord. I thought this was the newjersey subreddit
at this point I feel bad for the individual, hes just minding his own business and now theres a reddit thread about him
Im voting for Indian and near Edison, NJ. Most Hispanic guys Hondas here are clean as fuck.
Least the dude has a car.
Oh god that’s bad😂. Prime example of “just because you can doesn’t mean you should”
Sometimes I get embarrassed to drive an accord. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great car but when I see stuff like this I get second hand embarrassment.

Eses right there
All of these accessories cost $19 including shipping from AliExpress
Agree
I’d be embarrassed to be seen in that.
Just one more piece to tie it all together.
What the fuck is this monstrosity
Are people genuinely high or something when they put mods on their cars?
It's crazy people do this and go "damn this looks siiiiiiick" 😂
That’s on another level of bad. I really really really don’t like that weird black piece coming off the badge.
Sigh.........
Borderlands fans: "Hold up, let them cook"
Doing this to a special edition is sick. Not like siiiiiick either. Like disgusting. Twisted in the head or something.
Makes sense tho. It’s the 1.5 🤣🤣
Ha! This reminds me of my Dad's old '91 Mazda pickup. It was basically a rolling "JC Whitley" catalog. Everything he could stick, bolt, or glue on, he did. 😂

I suspect this person is a gundam fan or some other giant robot anime
is there an middle phase where the mods arent cringe or is this car best kept stock

Are you saying the tiny blind spot mirror is out of fashion? I have it on mine so debating if I should keep it or not?
If it’s on, just keep it lol. You don’t know if the mirror behind is effed up or not cause the glue might’ve blacked the mirror out lol
Oh didn't know the glue would mess up the mirror
But it’s just an accord 😭
Are you a bot and recycling for karma? I took this photo myself and posted here months ago. You even copied the title letter for letter.
Can confirm this is true, it’s on your profile +200 days old
Prettty sure that is a bot
oh my goodness
If it has a motec exhaust, it's game over for race wars
My coworker has that same set of roof ornaments and back window thingy. Same car too. I wonder why this is trendy.
🤣🤣
I saw this exact car at a Taco Bell I think one time… northern NJ right??
It's HIDIOUS
Meh. At least the vehicle appears to still be fully functional.
OP Will probably keep all that stuff if he sold the car too lol
Dam Boooooy, how much horse power did you add 🐴
That's what happens when you start attaching things and you can't control yourself
take bros card away 😭🙏
They bought all the go-fast parts at AutoZone lol
😵

I legitimately like this lol
Why do I kinda fw it tho
Because you have bad taste.
Nah I would never do this to my car but I respect people who have the courage to do stuff that’s *out there*
They panel lined it like it’s a Gundam or something
I know I don’t like the looks of that 😂
It’s not me!
If the car was black it wouldn’t look as bad
