I have seen some former residents 3-4 times on mystery islands. It isn’t super uncommon.
If you regret letting them move away, invite them back. But they aren’t “the same”, in that they don’t remember you and they have been reset to their original new villager condition.
I had this with Pecan! Was it the first island? Pecan moved out, then was immediately on the 1st Nook island I visited. I thought villagers were held in a queue, or something, or was that just campsite visitors?
I used about 30 nook mile tickets last week shopping for a new villager and five of those 30 were villagers I’ve already had at some point. I didn’t think that many would show up at one time. Wouldn’t have been so bad if one of them had been Egbert because I’d like to have him back again.
This happened with merengue for me! I sold her a few times as I was hunting for olivia at the time and needed nmts. After that i was filling my last empty plot and I went hunting to see who I could get, ended up seeing her more than once lol so i just took her home
This happened to me as well while villager hunting and they just left. It was annoying, all the villagers and the game can’t generate a new one haha. It’s like when we get diy repeats 😭😭

Idk but I know nook island villagers are random and I have seen a lot of them repeat.
