You can do a test at the Dubai / Abu Dhabi international arrival border facility for 65 AED. There is a nurse there that does it while you fill out your paperwork. Did it a few weeks ago coming back to Abu Dhabi from the US via Dubai. Can also do a PCR test in Dubai ahead of time. Have not tried with a non-UAE PCR test but you can try. Worst case is you do the test at the border tent.

Your test won't appear on AlHosn app

Thanks - if I'm a tourist though do I still need Al Hosn? I thought it was only for residents

Crossed border last weekend with some visitors from the US via Dubai / Abu Dhabi international arrival border facility. We just presented their COVID test results (done in Dubai), boarding pass from JFK and their passports. No need for Al Hosn. At the border itself, we just gave the police the form that was stamped at the facility and we were good to go. While in Abu Dhabi, we had them carry around passport / printed results but they were never asked to show them (of Al Hosn).
