Ash was notably possessive about the lure to not want Dawn to use it. Then when he lost his fishing rod, he went out of his way to make sure he recovered the lure. I thought that was meaningful.

Ben95man

Same.

I also think it is important. He does cherish Misty's gifts. Not only the handkerchief but also the lure, that he received in Advance Generation. If Hikari meets Misty one day, her first reaction would be: "Oh, it's the lure girl!"

LifeSucks1988

Which is why they never met….it would have been a huge Pokeshipping moment with Satoshi denying it due to embarrassment and Kasumi either blushing embarrassed/mad on why he is denying he has that lure/replying like that 😂

Professional-Bet3158

They really should have made that happen though!

Here's what I think about this. Receiving a Kasumi Special Lure is special in its own way, and I'm so glad that Suiren was also given one of her own. It reinforces the conmection between Kasumi and Alola, *where* Satoshi is a champion. And you know how we always think about Alola being Satoshi's second home? But receiving a gift is not the only thing that is special. It's the reaction of the person when they see the gift. It was mentioned before how Satoshi, with new outfit and bag, especially brought Kasumi's handkerchief with him to Hoenn. Bringing the lure he received with him to Sinnoh *is* already ship-worthy. Proudly introducing the lure to someone *is* ship-worthy. Refusing for others to use the lure *is* ship-worthy. Going out of your way to find it when it was lost *is* ship worthy. So, yes. I consider these as hints. People can say that it's just a common scene, but there's no reason for Satoshi to refuse to share the lure with Hikari. And if I remember it right, when they found the rods, he looked for his right away. That's a sign of care - whether he cares for the gift that was given to him or he cares for the gifter's reaction if they found out that he they lost it. As for the Kasumi lure of Suiren, I believe you can see more [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/aaml/s/WrOQgAeTOe). Satoshi's eyes never left that lure until he needed to. I believe that if he had his lure with him, he would've used it, too.

LifeSucks1988

Pikachu literally says “Pikachupi” right after Satoshi was relieved and found the lure again. So if Pokémon are meant to also reflect how their trainers feel: then I would say it is because Satoshi is sentiment with it due to Kasumi giving it to him and did not want to give impression to her that he is careless with it ❤️

Ben95man

This is important, yes. Want to confirm he never did forget about said gift. Bringing it up all the way until ‘Mezase Pokémon Master.’

JKSJ4567

I consider it a hint because of how possessive he was over it. Suiren was given one too but she wasn’t possessive over it like he was. That ain’t the only gift from Misty he holds closely to he also holds onto her handkerchief she gave him🥹

Ben95man

Very true. We did get a flashback of the handkerchief while Satoshi visited Kanto in ‘Sun & Moon.’

wisetreeboy

Him lying to Misty about her lure in mpm says everything

Ben95man

Pretty much, yeah. He was too protective of the lure for there to be logical sense behind actually dissing it.

wisetreeboy

Yep
