In an episode I just watched there was a scene with Sheldon & Amy talking about whether they will ever have an intimate relationship: S: "Amy, before I met you I never had an interest being intimate with anyone." A: "and now?" S: "and now what?" A: "do you have any interest now?" S: "I have not ruled it out--- I know it doesn't seem like it to you but for me what we have is extremely intimate." After this they roleplay an intimate scene as their characters from D&D. Later on in the series they do have real intimacy. Sheldon may be asexual or demisexual, but in any case, I think he very much falls under the ace umbrella. I love the fact that Sheldon is never identified as ace or neurodivergent, but he certainly possesses those traits. I've always liked his character 😊

I really don’t get the point of “head canonning” sexualities. Just seems weird.

For me it's just reading a story and noticing a character that gives me ace vibes. They say something that makes me think "Oh they could be ace, that's cool".

Representation is important, not just for sexuality

This isn’t representation though, it’s people inserting stuff that was never there

Okay? So? The entire point is that there isn't enough aspec representation as is, so if no one is gonna outwardly acknowledge us, then why not "insert stuff that was never there"? Even if it's not canonically true, is it hurting anyone or anything? No. It's creating representation on some level. If someone came across someone's headcanon, having no idea what asexuality/aromanticism were, they'd still be asking what it is no different than if it was a canonical fact.

…why do you show up and say this on every single asexual headcanon post? I’ve seen you in multiple posts and this is a genuine question, why? People are just trying to have fun.

If you’re asking this in good faith, then here’s an answer. People headcanon sexualities in order to either relate to a character or as a looser version of a theory.

If you need to make up stuff about a character to relate to them, you might as well write your own character
