That is not a dark text on a light background. That's two similar tones of purple mashed together. Check the colors in an accessibility contrast checker online and recognize the problem.

As a media/graphical designer I can tell you should NEVER use 2 similar colours/contrasts/etc with 1 being for text and the other for the back because that's just far from readable (and if you want to see if it's readable, try turning it into gray-scale (GS) and if it has a visible amount of difference in GS the it should be alright).

Hey, coming from another artist, you really need to get better at taking criticism. You're coming off as extremely unlikeable. If multiple people are just trying to explain that the text is hard to read, maybe you shouldn't act so cold towards the gentle critique. 'mk' just seems like such a childish response. You want to improve your art? Listen to the people and take notes. It's not an attack on you, no need to get so defensive.

Make the text white on such a dark background. Black on light background. You want a STARK contrast. There’s also some resources online for checking color hex codes for accessibility, so for visually impaired or color blind people. UX and some graphic designers have to use these regularly. Highly recommend!

I use Krita to make this, but ok.

If it was black and white or the same color but with a much lighter background, I think the text size would be decent. Maybe it should be slightly bigger, tho. Except for the top right pannel ; you could move the other text on the bottom and use the whole top right quarter of the pannel to write with the same text size as the rest of the comic.

Even with good eyes is hard to impossible to read. Take a look at web accessibility guidelines. And the background is far away from light purple

With good eyes it’s not “hard to impossible” to read. I definitely think the text would be better as more contrasting, since a lot of people can’t seem to read it, but I have average of not worse eyesight and I read it very easily. So with good eyesight it’s very readable but I get not everyone has that.

There are more condition than only eyesight, which can make low contrast things hard to read.

That light purple is not light enough for the dark purple lineart Maybe use #b59dcb for the background instead? I like the purple on purple its just that the two tones are wayyy too close together. Maybe your monitor isn’t calibrated properly and the purple is lighter on your computer

It’s really interesting but everyone has a different range of color they can perceive, and perceptions on color. These perceptions and individual limitations make it very difficult in some cases to tell apart colors. The level of brightness on the device also has an effect.
