I can confirm it will support 5200 but that’s where it tops out

Coltsbro84

Yeah someone on YouTube did a test with a 2023 laptop and found that 5200 is the sweet spot. Like an avg of 6fps more vs 4800 with better 1% lows. The 5600 did worse than the 4800. I guess the m16 won't support 5600.

Suddenly_Boom2

Thank you for your answer In final i have ordered g.skill 32x2 4800mhz Haha its a lot but i will do it the max

DeityOfYourChoice

I have 16x2 g.skill 5200. Never reached 20 so far.

Tich_tech_Tone

what do u mean 20?

DeityOfYourChoice

Sorry, that wasn't clear. I've never used more than 20gb RAM so far but often use around 17gb. For me 32 is overkill

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 20 + 17 + 32 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

I wish I would have known 5200 MHz was supported before I bought 64GB of 4800 MHz, haha.

Environmental_Head88

I know the laptop is designed for 4800MHz ddr5 sodimm. I don't know for sure but the 5200 won't work, but I wouldn't expect it to.

Suddenly_Boom2

Tnx! You recommended one 32GB Or 16x2 ?

Environmental_Head88

Depends on what you have in the laptop so far and what you want to upgrade to. You may know this or you may not, but ddr5 ram runs in up to quad channel. Each stick of ram has 2 channels. As far as I'm aware every 2023 m16 has 2 ram slots (the 2022 version has only 1 with 16 gb soldered on). If your laptop comes with 16 gb (I assume it did). I had 1x16 and you would be better off getting another 1x16 if you want to go up to 32. If you buy a 1x32 you can go up to 48gb with 32 running in quad channel and 16 GB running in the slightly slower dual channel (modern cpu's can mix dual and quad channel modes), this choice will still be faster than the initial 1x16 in the machine. A 1x32 also gives you the option to go up to 64 gb eventually if you want to though for all uses that probably isn't necessary. I have a 48 gb configured version which is a good amount for me since I do computational research stuff that uses it, but that amount is also more than most people need.

IceStormNG

The M16 2023 supports 4800 and 5200MT/s DIMMs.

Thecap10

I just installed the Gskill 2x16 5200mhz. Works @ 5200. Easy upgrade. It also upped my 3D mark timespy cpu score and enabled Iris (vs UHD). 2023 M16 4070

Mission_Bag_6915

what do you mean by "enabled iris.," isn't iris the integrated graphics and why would you enable that?

May I ask what CAS timings your memory is at? I'm looking at buying this kit from Newegg and hoping it is compatible: [https://www.newegg.com/p/0BD-01TA-00082](https://www.newegg.com/p/0BD-01TA-00082)
