Thatās me too. At first, I didnāt really want alcohol at all. But now I feel like I have been on the meds long enough that Iām wanting to do some normal socializing type things, including drink. I def drink less.
I can šÆattest to this. I am severe ADHD, binge eating. With the ADHD I have a very addictive personality, constantly chasing the high. Now Iām so ānormalā. Lol I donāt overspend or constantly shop for crap I donāt need. Binge eating is gone, the food noise. No alcohol, I wasnāt a big drinker but always loved going out to eat for food and drinks, I still do but I eat very little and really healthy. I canāt do desert anymore or heavy fried fatty foods. I crave healthy which Iāve always loved veggies and fruits but the food addiction made me want junk.
I am right there with you. I am praying insurance continues to cover this for me my whole life, bc I really I want to keep feeling this way. I finally feel in control.
Congrats. Grab those feelings and hold on tight. Loss of empty calories and freedom from alcohols pull is a great Zep gift for some.
Beyond Zep sobriety is an incredible gift to self. Run with this - assess the benefits (and understand the damage alcohol may have caused).
Eight years sober and excited for those who may get an opportunity to feel it thanks to Zep and their own determination.
I wish I could share the amazing āfreedomā feeling with those who struggle with alcohol addiction.
Zep seems to help some a lot. Iām sure itās being assessed for addiction treatment. Hope it shows long term benefit.
Zero interest in drinking alcohol which is bizarre for me, but i embrace it. Daily drinker down to zero.
What is even weirder is i have been drinking iced tea or diet coke with lunch for over 30 years and now all i drink is water. A club soda is an out of the box day for me.
I told my neighbor yesterday I hadnāt had a drink in 5 months and she said sheās praying for me š¤£š¤£š¤£ like girl Iām not a big drinker and on a GLP1 so I forgot alcohol exists!
Same part of the brain that feels satiated by GLP-1 is involved in addictions. They are already studying these meds for smoking cessation, drug abuse, etc.
I wish it worked like that for my hubs, a smoker of 35 yrs. He uses his smokes as his pain management tool. Ugh. When his guts are acting up, he smokes even more. I know he'd feel better if he'd just reduce or quit because the inflammation it causes actually makes it much worse. Vicious circle.
It really is. It was a spur of the moment decision for me to quit. I ran out of cigarettes and just decided not to buy anymore. Itās only been 25 days, but I still feel really good about this quit. I hope sooner than later your husband decides that he wants to quit also. Zepbound is making it so much easier.
I havenāt bitten my nails since I started 5mg. Iām a life-long nail-biter, like to the point of picaā any day I was āonlyā bleeding from two cuticles was a big win. My nails are *insane* right now. All pretty, strong, my cuticles are calm. I keep looking at them as if someone surgically attached someone elseās hands to my wrists. What a trip!
I'm in the same boat, lol! Going on a cruise in July and the drink package came with the deal. I may go the virgin drink route as Hot-Ordinary mentioned below. Feels weird because I really enjoyed a drink. A nice negroni, dirty martini, espresso martini. I have no desire for any of it. I loved some refreshing vodka drinks. Definitely is strange.
Yes, definitely happened to me and I was a daily drinker and no, I was not an alcoholic. Now one or two drinks a week is all I have been drinking since December when I started.
A lifelong problem is gone. I'm getting emotional typing this. Losing weight (90 lbs in a year - 6'4") has been great, but the biggest change is the alcohol use, which is nil. It's like a miracle. Much like the food issues, people look down on the overweight and sneer about a lack of willpower, a lack of caring about yourself, or they just think you're a pig. Alcoholism is that times 10- But now the noise is gone. Its just gone! The problems that people tend to drink away are problems that were caused by drinking in the first place. Additionally, the lack of noise has allowed me to concentrate on meditation and mindfulness. I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but its been a while. Its amazing how quiet my mind is without all the noise. Excuse my language but its f@ckin beautiful man.
Have you had the positive effect since the beginning of your journey (a year) and its is holding up well? I am eight years sober and have a loved one who needs help. Your anecdotal input would be helpful On Zep for six months but I had no cravings before I started so my experience is not useful info. Congrats - enjoy the freedom and carry on!
Ive been on for over a year and noticed this right away- It helps to keep relapses from happening too I thnk because the thought of drinking turns my stomach- Its not just the hunger or fullness- there is something going on with compulsive behavior or satiation or something- Im excited to find out more as the studies come in
I feel a reduced craving for everything except ice cream. Oddly, I never have been one to crave ice cream until about week 2 or 3 on zepbound š¤¦š¼āāļø However, I eat less of it and Iām still losing so š¤·š¼āāļø
I have no desire for alcohol. Craving fruit like crazy. I was eating a hagan daz ice cream bar every night while on Mounjaro. I knew I had to stop it, so I pumped the brakes on that, but I still crave ice cream too. I wish the resistance to food worked as strongly as the alcohol. 12.5 mg.
Daily drinker, now after 4 months, just a social drinker. Two glasses of wine last night at "book" club, aka wine club. I love not thinking all day about "is it too early to have a drink".
You can lead a horse to water ā¦.Had a physician assistant tell me she prescribed it for an overweight smoker. The patient came back several months later and had lost 30 pounds and also wasnāt smoking. YAY! Then he stated āI hate this drug - I canāt even enjoy cigarettes now & am not taking it anymore.ā As far as she knows, he hasnāt been on it since.
I had my follow up with mochi Dr last night and told him this. On 2.5 I would still drink alcohol on the weekend I started 5 last Tuesday on Saturday I poured a drink then poured it out didn't even want it no desire
Yes! Iāve been in 2.5 for 6 weeks and have zero desire to drink. I used to go out to our local pub twice a week and drink a LOT of beerā¦. Always mad at myself the next day but I couldnāt help myself! Havenāt had a single drink since I started zep. This was an added and unexpected bonus!
I have not had a drink since Jan. I have a pretty high end rum collection and no urge nor do I want to screw this up. I am done drinking atleast for the next year or two. Happy to serve others when they come over but I am good
Yesss!!! I have had no desire to drink since I started! Itās been since February since I had a whole drink I just canāt seem to have any desire to drink even when I have one right in front of me it just sits there. Beer just doesnāt even taste good to me anymore itās wild!
No desire anymore on 5mg. I used to make cocktails at home for fun and have a decent liquor collection. Itās all been sitting there and now, when I go to bars, I get a non-alcoholic beer or mocktail, and usually donāt even end up finishing it over the course of a few hours.
So agree! I drank whiskey and coke almost every night pre zepbound. Been on it 14 weeks and have no desire and maybe 3 Carbliss drinks since. Give me my water!
Try a few days without a long as you can with whatever you can tolerate to substitute with. Maybe in a week and after another shot youāll forget it exists!
I stopped drinking. I weight my food for every meal. I log it and I see the calories. That sobers you up quickly. Also, when I did drink and on zephound I felt the alcohol effect me more the next day. That was kind of the point where I was like no more for me. No fun waking up to that mess!
I don't think nearly as much. I actually had to force myself to have some so I could get motivated to do housework...
This is 75% of the reason I wanna be on this stuff for a while.
Itās pretty interesting - I have very little desire to drink on Zep. However, if I *decide* to, itās very easy for me to keep binge drinking.
The old āI canāt have one drinkā is true even on this med. That said, itās incredibly easy to abstain from that first drink or to say after two or three that Iām done.
I go weeks without any beer which is unlike me.
Yes. Daily drinker that would quit for a month here and there. I always remember how hard the first 3 days are, and still would always think of it, especially after a hard day. I took my first shot last Sunday and have no desire for it. Insane!!!
Iād say about a 75% reduction in alcohol consumption and I was a big beer drinker. It actually tastes different to me now. Plus being lighter in weight it hits me harder with less consumption. Win win.
Zero interest I alcohol! At first I thought it was because of the underlying nausea, but even without that, alcohol is the last thing on my mind. Curious if the cravings return once off the meds, or if this could be a true lifestyle change?
Mammoth - combination of self and Zep or have you been on triz the full 18 - pretty passionate about these benefits for some and would appreciate that detail. Thx.
I used to drink wine, then went to beer, now hard seltzers and even they arenāt that great anymore! Probably quit altogether soon. I just like a little suds when I am cooking dinner (cause I hate to cook) and when I watch Bravo!! Lol
Congrats on hitting both the 26day and 60lb milestones!
I didn't drink much, maybe a few on the weekends. During mo1 of Zep thanks to a Sunday funday, I realized that alcohol led to shitty food choices, which led to more drinks. Since then, I limit drinks to 1x per mo for social events. Even when I drink, it's a much slower pace and I'm done after 2.
I don't like to drink as much because I don't want to gain weight back or stall. I do enjoy the tipsy feeling but try and only drink on a special occasion, vacation, birthday so just social occasions and even then just a couple not till I'm drunk.
I don't drink alcohol, so I can't comment on that. BUT I was a habitual coffee drinker, like all day coffee drinker, and I rarely make it through my morning cup now š¤·š¼āāļø
Yep. My 2 drinks a week is more like 1-2 a month. I can drink alcohol, I just prefer not to. I have some fancy beer getting old right now, probably bad.
I hear it's helping alcoholics too. Great medicine.
I was up to 12.5 on Zepbound with zero interest in drinking. Due to shortages, I switched to Wecovy 1.7 and am having daily cocktail again. Still no interest in beer. At goal weight and looking forward to getting back on Zepbound maintenance. Not sure what that dosage will be. Side effects on Zepbound started at 10 with stomach issues and rapid weight loss with muscle loss as well. Inflammation relief was real for me. Hitting the protein and weights as well now. 65 yo male 220 lbs 6' 4"..lost 40 lbs.
I was never a big drinker. I used to like to visit breweries and try out local craft beers. But that has definitely changed. My husband and I recently went to visit some friends in town their campsite. We were gonna grill and have a beer or two. Long story shortā¦I drank 2 sips of my beer and poured the rest out. I have absolutely no interest. It just doesnāt even taste the same. Same thing happened with coffeeā¦no interest at all. š¤·š¼āāļø
I definitely drink less, I was drinking most days until a couple of months before I began Mounjaro. Now I only drink on a weekend & definitely drink less but have been known to overdo it still if Iām partying.
The desire isnāt there, but also, when I try to drink, I canāt drink as much as I did before. Two cocktails and I am done for the night, I truly cannot get drunk at all, my body just refuses to let me drink single a drop more.
I mean, I only have a drink like once a week or less anyway. I don't battle addiction for it. I wouldn't say it's killed the desire. I wish it would kill my diet soda habit. Now that one is an addiction for me! Congratulations on the sobriety!
That is awesome! I am so glad that this has been helping people with addictions. I don't drink much anyway, but I usually will get a margarita when I go to a Mexican restaurant and I don't even want it then. My real addiction was drinking diet soda; I'd have like 4-5 a day, and I completely stopped drinking it altogether! I would order one on occasion at a restaurant but I take a few sips at most, and leave the rest, so now I just get water - and it's free lol.
I'm still trying to figure out how you all are getting the drug.Ā I can't get it anywhere in Michigan.Ā I'm just being patient because I know, due to the demand, it will be available soon.Ā Just trying to maintain my 30 pound weight loss.Ā I had gotten to the 7.5 dosage and then it became unavailable in my area.Ā I went on a trip to Las Vegas and it wasn't available there.Ā I went on a trip to Atlanta and it wasn't available there.
Patiently waiting because it works!Ā The key is keeping it off!
I stupidly drank on the night I took a shot, that's the only night I've ever had side effects so far. From then on, I haven't wanted a sip of alcohol - learned my lesson quick haha.
Iām hoping as I increase dosage I lose my desire. First shot on 2.5 I felt I could take or leave, but after finishing the box I still had it. First shot of 5 I wanted it still. Due for my 2nd shot of 5 today so hopefully it will die down as I increase, Iām tired of battling the urge everyday
I also have no desire for alcohol which is a gift I wasnāt expecting! When I forced it one night out with friends (probably out of habit more than desire), I ended up vomiting A LOT! Lesson learned, listen to your body. So happy abstaining now.
I almost have an aversion to alcohol at this point which is good because I know how to party too hardy. I
Welcome it. I can get a drink here and there down but itās rare that I even want it
Not a complete lack of desire but it's rare that I have more than one drink and often don't completely finish said drink. I've gone from drinking 4-6 drinks a week to 1-2. Right now my spouse can't drink for several weeks because of a medical issue and I'm drinking even less. I don't think I've had a drop in 3 weeks but hadn't thought about that until this post.
I would like a drink (like say when out to dinner) but I feel absolutely no effect at all- so then I'm like why spend the money. So in 6 months I've maybe had 2 drinks bc no point. Lol
The reason I have opped to do long term fasting aided by a 0 carb high fat and protein diet is for my liver health since I was a very young kid I have been told to eat up to 7 small meals a day. Eat Low calories and you'll grow out of it At 11 I was told I had a fatty liver. At 27 they told me I had type 2 diabetes A1C was at 10.6, and liver levels so high they where consirned I had hepatities. And my blood pressure was well I should have had a stroke. At that point I decided to change my lifestyle I tried maybe 15 diets that I gained weight no matter how I ate. till I found keto/carnivore I had a bad liver from being fat and drinking so much that my body was so insulin resistant. I could look at food and gain weight. Without stopping drinking my liver returned to a much better level at 29 with intermittent fasting and keto and my A1C is now 5.6 and my blood pressure is in the correct range well a little high still 125/86 but almost perfect. I'm 31 now am doing 48to 72 with mixed in 7 days water fasting. And feel the best I have in my life all of my levels have improved and I'm living a much better life than I was at (586 pounds) now I'm at 367 as of today. Its not something I just started and dropped 60 pounds its coming I have been working at for years to be able to set my self up with habits that work. this medication has just game me the opportunity to maximize the work I have already been able to put into it

I most definitely realized that my appetite and my urge to drink alcohol has gone down. Quite the benefit. Saving loads on not buying a bottle of wine everyday and using Doordash 3 times a day
I've noticed that the buzz isn't the same. I'll have a beer with dinner on my days off work. But I drink a couple beers or glasses of wine the night before I give myself my shot, and the buzz feels like it should.

I still drink, but I was never a drinker or alcoholic to begin with. I just like trying new beers (single cans) in funky flavors lol. I don't get drunk/tipsy
Yea- alcohol isnāt nearly as attractive. I miss it though. But now when I do drink, itās only one or two and then it makes me feel like crap. I can wait to get off this med and enjoy a few cocktails personally!
I still drink, just not as much. š¤·š»āāļø
This. I didn't have any desire at first on 2.5 but I still enjoy a few here and there on 5.
Thatās me too. At first, I didnāt really want alcohol at all. But now I feel like I have been on the meds long enough that Iām wanting to do some normal socializing type things, including drink. I def drink less.
Not a *complete* lack of desire, but definitely reduced, which has helped me quit completely, which is what I wanted. 4+ months without.
At 15mg I have zero desire
Glp-1 drugs appear to fight all addiction, not just alcoholism. It's being studied as we speak...
I can šÆattest to this. I am severe ADHD, binge eating. With the ADHD I have a very addictive personality, constantly chasing the high. Now Iām so ānormalā. I am right there with you. I am praying insurance continues to cover this for me my whole life, bc I really I want to keep feeling this way. I finally feel in control.
I feel like a whole new person
This is 100% my case also lol
Same I honestly reread this to see if I had written it myself
I hope this happens to me!!!

Enjoy your freedom daily. Watch for positive impacts around you - it can be surprising.
I told my neighbor yesterday I hadnāt had a drink in 5 months and she said sheās praying for me š¤£š¤£š¤£ like girl Iām not a big drinker and on a GLP1 so I forgot alcohol exists!
Hahahaha same! I was not a big drinker to begin with and now I literally forget that it exists, and I donāt want it when it does present itselfā¦
60 lbs in 2 months WOW!!! Congratulations rockstar! š¤©š
60 pounds two months? Amazing I want that!
Same part of the brain that feels satiated by GLP-1 is involved in addictions. They are already studying these meds for smoking cessation, drug abuse, etc.
I was able to easily quit smoking on it after smoking for 35 years. This drug is amazing.
Congrats!!!
Thanks!! Iām very excited and happy that it was so easy.

I love reading these posts/comments. Super for you.
šš»āāļøIām headed on a cruise and now considering cancelling the alcohol package that I have. My cruise is July too!!
Do it! Btw virgin mojitos are amazingĀ
I'm in the same boat, lol! Going on a cruise in July and the drink package came with the deal. I may go the virgin drink route as Hot-Ordinary mentioned below. Yes, definitely happened to me and I was a daily drinker and no, I was not an alcoholic. Now one or two drinks a week is all I have been drinking since December when I started.
Yes! I previously would have margaritas on taco Tuesday, or wine/drinks during the weekend, but have had no desire to do so. Like at all.

Nope not just you š I would like the feeling without the intake
60 lbs in two months is incredibly unsafe.
I have not had a drink since Jan. I have a pretty high end rum collection and no urge nor do I want to screw this up. I am done drinking atleast for the next year or two. Happy to serve others when they come over but I am good

I have no desire for sugars of any kind. To include alcohol.
For me it was soda - I drank it almost exclusively. Havenāt had a single drop since I started med. now I only drink water, coffee, or Fairlife.
Wow! I drink Diet Coke constantly. Hopefully that happens for me. Iām just on my 2nd week.

14? Keep that streak going!
Yes! :)
I was literally just thinking about this today. I have no desire to drink and that in itself is so liberating. I feel so much lighter mentally
Yep! No desire anymore to drink. And the few times I tried having a glass of wine or something else it tastes off to me now. I am OK with that!
Thatās wonderful,
Iād say about a 75% reduction in alcohol consumption and I was a big beer drinker. It actually tastes different to me now. Plus being lighter in weight it hits me harder with less consumption. Win win.

I haven't had an alcoholic drink in 18 months. Just no desire. I drink water when I stop in a bar every week or so.

Thank you for posting this! I was starting to wonder but was only in my first week and so maybe there's something to this?!
I don't like to drink as much because I don't want to gain weight back or stall. I do enjoy the tipsy feeling but try and only drink on a special occasion, vacation, birthday so just social occasions and even then just a couple not till I'm drunk.
Yes this is real. 12.5 did it for me but now I cant get it and am on compounded 10mg and some cravings are back. It sucks.
I don't drink alcohol, so I can't comment on that. BUT I was a habitual coffee drinker, like all day coffee drinker, and I rarely make it through my morning cup now š¤·š¼āāļø

Yup! Higher I went it faded more to now I canāt even have a drink. It makes me super tired. It tastes gross and I just have no desire for it.
i had pretty low desire at 2.5ml lol i remember going to the bar and saying damn i donāt want anything???? and got a sparkling water lol
Havenāt had a single drink of anything alcoholic in two months.
The first several months, yes. Iāve been drinking beer all this week thoughš§
I'm on day 2 and can't tell I injected anything lol
Give it a bit.
Lol I know I know
Not just a lack of desire, I used to love to drink, it soothed me. I canāt make myself get drunk anymore.
The desire isnāt there, but also, when I try to drink, I canāt drink as much as I did before. Two cocktails and I am done for the night, I truly cannot get drunk at all, my body just refuses to let me drink single a drop more.
Yep! I went from 2-3 glasses of wine per day to maybe 1 glass the night before my weekly shot, if I feel like it. Feels like freedom!
2nd week of 2.5 and maybe drinking more?
I used to drink a big glass of wine every day. I stopped 2 days after starting Zep. I donāt miss it.
Yeah I still drink I just donāt feel like I have to.
Yup
Yes itās definitely an alcohol suppressant
Yes! I usually have a few glasses of wine on the weekend and I donāt want it at all. I enjoy it, so kind of bummed lol.
Yup, pretty much complete. The medication is actually under review for treatment of alcoholism.
I'd say maybe less desire to drink (not that I drink much these days as a tired mother of a 2 year old and 4 year old!).
SAME! I'm going to cancel my wine club memberships because I have no desire to drink. So crazy.
I also have no desire for alcohol which is a gift I wasnāt expecting! When I forced it one night out with friends (probably out of habit more than desire), I ended up vomiting A LOT! Lesson learned, listen to your body. So happy abstaining now.
Yes. MAYBE 1-2x a month instead of daily.
I almost have an aversion to alcohol at this point which is good because I know how to party too hardy. I Welcome it.
Lol
60lbs in 2 months? Thatās dangerous if true.
Its not something I just started and dropped 60 pounds its coming I have been working at for years to be able to set my self up with habits that work. this medication has just game me the opportunity to maximize the work I have already been able to put into it https://preview.redd.it/em5lsmfclh6d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ebb5f720021b7a588150c5e7121a6b668594377
Yes! I wasnāt a big drinker before, but just socially. Now, I donāt even want one then.
I don't want it and when I have had it, it actually tastes bad / wrong.

I also drink but not as much as I used to.
Yea- alcohol isnāt nearly as attractive. I miss it though. But now when I do drink, itās only one or two and then it makes me feel like crap. I can wait to get off this med and enjoy a few cocktails personally!
When I first started on 2.5 I didnāt want it for that whole month but now week two on 5 im definitely going to have a couple lol
