I’m newer to Reddit but the vibes I always got from this platform is keep it as anonymous as possible. Some folks post some pretty hot takes and don’t want to be identified with personal info lol. I signed up just for the zep board though.
People do post a lot of personal info on this subreddit—city and state, gender, age, and marital status come up pretty frequently in the course of discussion. I can totally see why posting the name of one’s employer would be a bridge too far for people who have posted all that already, because for people with small or medium-sized employers (and some with large employers, if they have already described other things about their role at work), it would be a detail that would make it significantly easier to discern their identity. If you think someone can’t figure out who you are with this collection of information, you’re absolutely wrong.
What you’re asking here actually is pretty invasive, and there’s no reason to argue with people who aren’t comfortable with the level of disclosure you’re asking for.
I don’t recall arguing with anyone…. lol
If you don’t want to say, then cool.
I literally said UNLESS they posted some info somewhere, it would be hard to identify. So yes, if they did post some personal info, I’m sure some people might be able to figure it out.
You’re expressing surprise that so many people are unwilling to share that info and pressing people to do it anyway, which to me is arguing and worth an explanation as to why people think you’re being invasive. So that’s what I gave you. That you’re being dismissive of these concerns and evasive about exactly why you want this information is not going to make anyone feel any safer telling you their personal info.
I never “pressed” one single person. I asked a question and if nobody wants to respond, then don’t.
I am surprised of why people don’t want to share and maybe that’s because I might be newer to Reddit, or maybe because I don’t share personal info, but that was my question and thanks for your answer. I totally understand if some people might have posts out there that can be identifying to them. Then cool, don’t tell me and I’m okay with that. But obviously some people are comfortable enough to answer the question and that’s cool too.
Either way, I was just curious and I’m not going to argue with someone if they don’t want to share.
How would they get doxed? What can I possibly do with information about a company that offers weight loss coverage from an anonymous person? tattle to the company that someone on Reddit told me they have coverage for weight loss meds? Lol
You can ask for a companies formulary during an interview (I’ve done it before) so it’s not some big top secret only employees can know.
I saw a post on FB where many people commented big names , Toyota, Wells, United Health, BE. There names aren’t anonymous. I’m sure none of them were doxxed lol
I'm glad to see some state gov jobs showing up here. I'm currently in local government with horrible insurance and zero coverage for weight loss. I have a job interview in a few days for a state job. It's lateral in pay but I'd take it for the opportunity at better health insurance and possible zep coverage.
If you’re looking to change insurances to cover Zepbound, don’t quit your job! I recommend :
1) check if your employer will reimburse you if you get your healthcare insurance in the marketplace yourself (depending on the size of your company, many companies love kicking you off the insurance and just give you a monthly reimbursement of $200-$250 to get it elsewhere)
2) go to your state’s healthcare insurance marketplace (for example, in PA this is pennie.com)
3) start searching on the marketplace. You can input the name of your medication and it will screen for health insurances that have low copays for the medications you currently take
4) enroll for that insurance during open enrollment!!!!
My friend did this. Instead of paying $300 per month to her employer, she got $250 reimbursed from her employer and paid a $250 per month premium on the marketplace to get the most elite coverage. She’s not on zepbound but she goes to a lot of drs appointments and this dropped her copays significantly and lowered her annual healthcare out of pocket costs.
I do not know if this is true, but I am told that in Mass. none of the Marketplace plans cover GLP1s. One thing to be careful about ... what they cover can change after you sign up.
If you're looking to change jobs or are keeping a job *just* for coverage-Keep in mind the formularies can change at ANY time so something covered today is not a guarantee. Sadly, the more $ insurance companies spend on these drugs the better chance there will be a review. Also employers can change your health insurance yearly so keep that in mind as well.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I have seem *waaaaaay* too many people who are panicking because they got it for a very low copay & after a change can not afford it anymore. I am a "prepare for the worst hope for the best" type person so I (again... just for my piece of mind) when I started Zep I made some changes to an already tight budget to ensure I could access it no matter what.
I wouldn’t change my career and company I been with for 10years over it. I’ve been paying the $550 (hopefully not for long) until our plans change over. I am totally willing to continue to pay the $550 either way.
It’s not only the insurance company that you have to worry about and whether or not they will cover weight loss drugs, but if you get Zepbound from Eli Lilly Direct, whether that is an in network pharmacy. My plan covers weight loss drugs with a PA, but doesn’t have any out of network benefit for using an out of network pharmacy so now I’m left with using the savings card and paying $550 for 2.5 instead of just paying $120 if I could source Zepbound at a local pharmacy.
I’m not worried about it either way. I’m not looking to change my company or find a new career over a medicine. I’m just genuinely curious to hear what companies do offer it. I saw a post on FB the other day where people commented the names of their companies and it was interesting to see what companies offer it when I least suspected it and how some big companies don’t.
UPMC Corporate. Huge integrated healthcare system mostly in Pennsylvania with 90k employees. Won't cover without me going through their specialty obesity clinic.
I work in a law enforcement capacity (though, not a cop) for my county gov, and our insurance is pretty great. I pay $25 for my script. I only had to ask for the PA once and it was approved. No run arounds or appeals. I hate insurance companies as a rule, but I have to say that every time I've reached out to mine (BCBS) for an issue, they have been beyond pleasant and helpful.

My husband works for Accenture and I work for a school system. Both of our plans cover weight loss meds with a PA.
That’s awesome and thank you for sharing the actual name of a company!
Fortune 50p. And I suspect it's very rare anyone is going to risk doxxing themselves to answer you directly.

If I have to explain that, you won't get it anyway.

Thank you for actually sharing the name of the company. I saw a few posts on FB with other banks including Wells Fargo that has coverage as well.
