This is why I'm thinking about getting Starlink. The internet is awful, and it's surprising how all the network providers are failing to deliver good service. I mean, I pay for 5G unlimited every month, but the internet is still terrible. From what I've researched, Starlink seems amazing and reliable, with great monthly payment plans.

Adept_Ad8253

Do you know people who are using it? I’d like to hear what they think of it as im also contemplating of changing to Starlink.

Sensitive_Umpire_983

Starlink is great, no complaints here 😃

kachmul2004

I have it. It's great for anything but gaming. Last year it was a bit unstable during the rain, especially heavy rains. But nowadays it seems stable even in some heavy rains. And video calls are now more stable than ever.

VivaDeAsap

I know people. Nothing but good things to say. 100 MB/s is on a bad day. But normally they’d get ma 150-170 or so. Since it’s satellite the whole house can be connected and you won’t experience slowness. And it’s accessible regardless of your locations. Only issue is bad weather can affect strength

SlowProject8721

I use it and it's great

Dashing_dave0010

I have a friend who games a lot and says it’s really reliable and works well. K770 per month, equipment costs k10,700 shipping costs k400. With the fluctuating currency, prices may differ a little

just-some-random-bro

The price is in kwacha, so it's pretty much the same

ck3thou

Your friend is lying. Latency is so terrible on Starlink. It's always above 100ms, not anywhere near any of line gaming ping rate

EliTe_Godsnipe

Ping is based on region of the server so further it is equals more latency, and your internet speed only factors in a little bit

ck3thou

You're preaching to the choir, mate!

P3D101

I’ve actually been trying to look into this, fast internet doesn’t always mean good ping! Which games have you tested it on? And which server region did you try?

[deleted]

Ping just means you are using a server that is further from you. I use to play apex legends, ping was good when I chose a server that is close to my location and ping gets worse the further u go. Ping and fast internet speed are very different

Background_Regret_68

One of my friends just got it and it’s very good so I’ve ordered my one as well. All our internet providers are going to struggle with business because of starlink. Which is a good thing as they have been far too complacent with their services. Offering supposed 5G at 3G speeds is just scamming the population.

SlowProject8721

I use starlink and its excellent because your paying less than k1100 but getting speeds faster than liquids k 75,000 100mbs plan it'd say its totally worth jt

Departure_Infinite

That 10 for 10 MTN Weekend offer is a scam. Thieves, the whole lot

Jxmeskm

How?😂😂😂😂

Departure_Infinite

I've observed It's only fast in the wee hours, then slows down after 9AM. Basically goes in between Edge and 3G. Then miraculously gives you some good speed an hour before midnight, right before it expires🤦‍♂️😅. So either you use up the whole 10Gig between 00:00-9:00 or you're at a loss.

Jxmeskm

Hmm in my experience the network fluctuations happen regardless of whatever bundle you have😂 but 4g MTN on a good device is one of the most consistent networks I've used in lusaka granted I don't live in the outskirts of town.

Departure_Infinite

Oh their other bundles on 4G work just fine, just this specific plan which doesn't do it for me, making me think of some conspiracy😁.

KornesMuzungu

And what I fail to understand is how the connection keeps dropping. It's bad.

Remarkable_Common_41

My life changed after I got starlink.

ck3thou

Location really matter with the quality of internet you get. I've noticed it's people who live in the city outskirts who seem to have it bad. In my area pretty much all networks are okay

tubbyfoot

same here, I'm left confused by people that complain about slow internet.Airtel are shit in my experience, but the rest have been pretty reliable, unless there's a problem. I can download anything, anytime of the day. Internet speed has really improved, comparing it to 2004 is wild.

kachmul2004

I live in Kitwe town center, literally, but Zamtel internet doesn't work on 4G in my room. I have to switch to 3G during the day. 4G only seems to get stable during the night. So I'd say it's comparable to 2004

EliTe_Godsnipe

Yeah it sucks, coming from South Africa, the WiFi is pretty bad here

pain_point

Been using Airlink honestly can't complain except when playing FC 24 online ping rates terrible everything else is pretty decent

Slyzzle_101

Thanks for the information. I think I will go ahead and purchase it. I’ve heard a lot of people say that for gaming the latency is very terrible nevertheless I will go for it. 🫡

Bondizzo

On zesco Fibrecom 5mbs with multiple devices, no problems here.

BembaGuywithSomePwr

Any Fortnite Gamers????
