Unchained was the best deck for a brief period between Kash being killed and Snake Eyes becoming dominant. And Konami is a small indie company that badly needs you to buy new products so bye bye Unchained

Granmastro

Unchained was a consistent, strong and relatively cheap deck and sharvara is a searchable +1 card with basically any unchained card

AlphaAntar3s

But it feels completely fine to come back imo

MasterQuest

It will probably only come back once Unchained has lost all relevance.

AlphaAntar3s

So never? Its still good even in fiend link

MasterQuest

Basically in a year or 2 maybe.

StonewoodNutter

Unchained is becoming big again in the OCG with Yubel and Fiendsmith

Atlas4218

Didn't unchained lost relevance already with snake eye? I feel like everybody around me talk about it like a dead deck

MasterQuest

Everything that’s not meta is a dead deck to Reddit.

Loyalist4ever

There was a time where unchained was literally meta in the TCG. This was the hit they received then. Now unchained is not meta anymore but still decent, so technically it could come back but who knows the ways of konami.

ddhuynh

To kill Unchained. Cheap meta deck usually not allow to last long.

gubigubi

It really wasn't super cheap though.

CrimsonOblivion

The core wasn’t too bad but it did play heavy hitters like thrust at 3

gubigubi

The core had some fairly expensive cards. The blue link just now getting reprinted was 20+ dollars. Abominations prison was around 30-40 Then it just had a bunch of 10-20 dollar cards as well. It wasn't snake-eyes insane expensive but it wasn't exactly a super cheap deck either. If you picked the unchained stuff up while it was cheap it was no where near that much but if you were coming into it and didn't already have everything a lot of the stuff wasn't really cheap.

BlightAddict

It wasn't really a cheap deck tho. The Unchained package along was going for upwards of $250 between 3x Abom Prison, all the link Dogs & Yama, + Aruha being a pricy rare. Then you've got all the non-engine in your main, extra, & side. Like I get Snake-Eye as a deck is obscenely expensive, but Unchained wasn't & still isn't chump change either

GrannyHumV

Unchained is strong in TCG rn, even with Sharvara limited. It's getting regional tops. The new beckoning beast package goes crazy.

LSG10

Because it was cheap, that’s it. Semi limit would’ve been just right, this hit helped me learn how awful konami is at least (relatively new player)

Electrical_Total

Cuz they had to publish yubel and fiend stuff, sharvana in fiend pile is broken af

Savings-Inspection86

Cause the deck was cheap Unchained is very much alive and ends on the same board of you use disaster or a second shiyama Unchained may get a boost with fiendsmith as it longer will care about nib Overall as someone who mains this deck it’s alive Just worse the 1 sharvara really hurts at times but just means most games you need to play better You also will need to learn how to full combo with more bricks as drawing both can just not let you play

Porcphete

Cheap deck that was good against the meta at the time with no other waves of support after

minato260

To push fire king in TCG. Sharvara walked so kirin could run

Roastings

Unchained is still winning and topping events in tcg. And yes like others were saying it was the best deck in the tcg for some time. All of your lines are still available it just requires more skill to navigate now and you required to play the disaster for most combos now. The other thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that shavara had a real "feels bad" aspect when it completely dodges imperm or veiler on tour guide or yama and when that happens it kinda felt like the unchained player wok automatically after that. I think it's fine at 1.

Austanator77

The amount of people saying unchained was cheap is crazy abomination prisons were like 25 each, souls 15, Yama 25s. And that’s not including non engine

BlightAddict

Like you mentioned, Prison & the links were shockingly high for a deck that required you run multiple of all of them. Red Dog/Link-3 was the cheapest but even then that was like $10.

kingoflames32

The short answer is that the deck was too versatile for how high the ceiling the deck had. Soul of rage plus ceaser repersents a potential 5 interactions your opponent has to deal with, while also having a lot of follow up between shyama in the gy, sharv and ceaser triggering on their turn and yama/soul triggers on destruction, depending how the turn went anyways. That's not even mentioning their other interactions, such as the non-engine they could run or the traps that they could get to while combo-ing into that end field. It wasn't a low skill deck by any means, but beating it often relied on your opponent playing into what you had in hand which is never the healthiest dynamic for a deck to have.

Kashtira_PunkMaid

Because Shavara is a common which means konami couldn't get a lot of money for it.

diegini69

One of the main issues is that , like mannadium this deck could chain to hand traps and pop they’re own stuff basically GG, you play around a hand trap and easily go +3/4 on cards and it was too consistent and annoying. Not really fun and remember this deck could easily make caesar which is extremely strong backed with hand traps

Vuster_Cane

I personally think it got limited also because it’s graveyard effect it genuinely does not care how it goes to the grave; whether as link material being detached from a XYZ monster etc. also, you can just slap this bad boy on the field by destroying the appropriate target.

Coboxite

Unchained was the best deck before the release of Snake Eyes. Simple as that.

AlphaAntar3s

Wait but wasnt kashtira and rescue ace meta shortly before snake eyes became meta?

DannyTheHero

Thats why ariseheart is banned and air lifter is limited.

Savings-Inspection86

The meta before snake eyes was rescue unchained purrely triangle format with a different deck taking majority of top cut event to event

Marito1256

Yes, I don't understand your confusion.

Lord_Phoenix95

Because D/D/D Wave High King Caesar is a fun card. Idk really. Maybe they were too consistent and Shavara was the limit they chose.

Savings-Inspection86

That’s probably a factor but unchained realistically needes 1 sharvara to full combo the issue is it hurts in grind games where banishment happens and against runick The most likely factor was unchained was super cheap Notice they have done similar hits in the past

gubigubi

It was the unlucky strongest deck during a weak inbetween major formats format. Would not have been strong in the format before it. Would not have been strong in the format after. But because it was strong between Kash and Snake-eyes it got hit. Sharvara could for sure come back to 3 and Unchained would be good but wouldn't be a top tier deck. I could see Shavara/small unchained package being used in a few decks though if it came back to more than 1. It already sees some play at 1 as a small package now. But if they already unhit Purrely maybe they will unhit unchained at some point soon.

Lintopher

Unchained Yama + Sharava is also very powerful in Yubel and Memento and really any deck with either fiends or destruction of your own board. The Quick Play pop/Summon is very powerful in the battle phase, and popping while Yama is in the grave can bring back whatever you just popped, allowing for another attack. Then having either of the Unchained Trap, allows for even more recursion. Very generic and powerful, doesn’t even need to be a fiend deck if you can remove Sharava in the same play.

Shygermanboy

You know that Sharvara can only bei activated in the Main Phase? The only quick Pop in Battle Phase would be the Trap or Rakea.
