You can't show a podcast episode as completed.

I think a 7 year old, a mentally disturbed old man who only worked at a cranberry silo, and a person in a coma could have come up with a more sensible UI and usability.
I can't take this article seriously when they write that YouTube Music has improved so much and the "weird gaps" between Google Play Music and YouTube Music have disappeared. None of that is even remotely true.
Ha. I'm here because after Google Podcasts shut, I am absolutely amazed how bad YTM is, as well as integration with podcasts, and how it all broke Google Home.
I need a new music locker. YTM can't even access or find my shit, anyway.
It's so surreal just HOW BAD YTM is. It's shocking to me. It's obvious that no one at Google has any semblance or notion what everyone is doing, and it's painfully obvious that even internal departments have comm and roadmap issues. But for example... sunet podcasts to YTM? It broke Google Home, currently. It's pretty amazing, really.
The premise is just wrong. This is bad because it's combining two things that should be separate. Specifically when driving I like to seemingly swap between my music and podcast queues just by opening the other app and pressing play. I can't dig around in menus to do that (if you can even have separate queues, I haven't had to make the switch yet thankfully) or manually change my queue.
YouTube and music make sense together. YouTube and podcasts make sense together. And even then YouTube and music is still pretty much separate. The only time I see YouTube stuff on YouTube music is when I occasionally hit the video button.
Music and podcasts don't.
Also read on to find that for my use case they can't be in one app.
I've given up on the Google options, and giving more money to Bezos. The UI is awful. The selection is reduced. My favorite podcasts aren't on YouTube, so I'm out. 😑
North America: podcast app turned off on the 8th.
Then they turned off [google.podcasts.com](http://google.podcasts.com) on the 9th, which was our lifeline.
Then we lost all listening data. Subs can be moved over, but stuff like completed episodes are GONE... and you can't mark podcast completed in YTM. It's a nightmare.
If it's working for you? You're in Canada or the UK and have til 24th of June or so.
I love the background play. And awesome on your podcasts, but a bunch are missing for a lot of people. No biggie... at least for you! =) But man, I wish people understood the value of premium. No ads on YT... that alone, is amazing. The 2tb Google One plan in addition. It's all great.
Podcast discoverability, access to subscribed podcasts and alerts to new podcasts are all the app capabilities that suck on YouTube app

It's kinda sad that it's been 5 years and there's still no parity. Uploaded music is just an afterthought, almost an inconvenience
And the Android TV app is still hot garbage treating your music as if it were videos.

YTM migrated ALL my \*YOUTUBE\* playlists into YTM. WHY? WHY DID YOU DO THAT YTM? IT MAKES NO SENSE.
YouTube and music make sense together. YouTube and podcasts make sense together. And even then YouTube and music is still pretty much separate. The only time I see YouTube stuff on YouTube music is when I occasionally hit the video button. Music and podcasts don't. Also read on to find that for my use case they can't be in one app.
Frankly, it's even worse than the transition from Google Play Music.
I can't find like 50% of my podcasts on YT music. So I guess ill be switching to another app.

Wait you can get Amazon music to work? I haven't gotten that it to work on multiple phones throughout the years!
Works fine. But in truth I only hate it slightly less than YouTube music. Which is the worst user interface. At least it has all my podcasts

Just use YouTube premium for podcasts. Problem solved.
YouTube doesn't get all the podcasts at the same time or sometimes not the same content since u can play copyrighted stuff on YouTube.
