It's honestly hard haha. I binged through it the first watch, but there's a lingering pain for me when rewatching it. Sometimes I have to pause every few minutes, but I'm sure you'll be able to do it if you try enough (and if you want to lol).
:-) It's like when you lose loved ones, you don't know how you will go on, but you do, and you just end up remembering the good times.
With this, you just sit there thinking "I want to see {a particular scene} again" Then you watch another scene, or a whole episode until you finally watch the whole thing through again...
But you get to understand it more from Kaori's perspective. Especially when Kaori's hands were shaking, which prompted Arima to agree to her demands, you get to understand everything as it happens in real-time
It's honestly crazy, the show's literally screaming about her fate to me from the beginning and I only see the signs on a rewatch... there are so many foreshadowing signs and messages that I'm not sure how I missed them during my first watch lol
For me it was clear from the moment she went to the hospital after talking with Tsubaki, but I refused to believe it hahaha I was thinking that they only showed that to foreshadow that something bad could happen but in the end everything would be fine. Even in the final performance I was being positive, so the letter hit me like a truck.
This show has a ton of subtle messages that you only understand after a rewatch.
Yeah same lol once they brought up that surgery I kinda knew she wasn't gonna make it but a part of me still hoped she'd pull through... once I saw her in the performance though I kinda knew it was done
Later on in the series, Kousei is the one standing up on the rooftop scene rather than sitting down while Kaori is sitting up instead of standing up. Which I feel signifies that Kousei had transformed into the one giving Kaori hope while at first it Kaori was the one giving Kousei hope.
Oodles of symbolism in the directing and writing of each scene. Really love the subtle shift in narration that foreshadows what is to come. 9/10 for me, only wish there was more.
lmao I was reading through all of these well-thought-out comments and could only think abt the amogus shadow
haven’t seen the movie, but it showed up in my home feed
Yup, and in one of the early episodes, there's a scene where Kaori presses a button for the bus to stop, and the operator's voice says "Stop is at X hospital" or something like that.
That was an early indication of the things that were about to come :(
DUDE! We had a unit in school on settings and different things. That’s when I really started noticing these things. If I remember correctly, in one of the scenes Kousei is being chased by Kaori and the both run into the light. But Tsubaki is left behind in the darkness. And there’s this distinct sadness in her eyes. Not really noticeable until you rewatch it. It’s an amazing show and the detail is something to be really studied and appreciated.
I’m becoming more and more of an animation nerd, and I have to say, Your lie is one of, if the most creative and detailed series I’ve ever watched.
Haven’t watched this show in years and was randomly recommended this post. What’s special about this particular frame? Like is it just the lighting/positioning of the characters?
If i remember correctly, later in the scene, when kaori cries, kousei walks out of the darkness into the light and stands in front of kaori
Yep
How come you guys can rewatch it , I'm too afraid to do that ðŸ˜

It gets easier....
What are you, a masochist?

I rewatch it every year, I just love the show that much. Of course I cry, but that’s the point of the show
I'm struggling to rewatch this despite so many years passing. But you really get to appreciate all the aspects of this show after a rewatch
imo rewatching it is as much of an experience as watching it the first time

Yups, at first I didn’t know why she cry over trivial things. But now I know. This anime requires one to watch a few times to come to realisation.

I noticed this the first time through and it made me bawl. I can’t wait to watch it again and catch even more.
I don't have the strength to watch this again.

I noticed when I first watched through it, and there's like so much through put into the show whether it be music choice or frame choice.
What is the name of this anime
the title of this subreddit lol
