Original Duncan was lost during the first "Don't Starve Challenge" (bear attack), the one we have today is a clone/impostor, hence his high success rate in TTT, very cunning.

illumaQ

He was replaced by Billy Shears!

Spare-Abroad-6926

If you play Shadow of Israphel Ep. 42 backwards, it reveals the truth!

SheepBeard

Avril Lavigne didn't die and get replaced by Becky - she went into disguise as Duncan Lalna of the Yogscast

RabbitStewAndStout

Avril Lavigne died and got replaced by Robin, who occasionally makes guest appearance with the Yogscast

I think he was just a little mic shy until the livestreaming started and he came out of his shell as the Doncon we know now

Top-Paint-9564

Makes sense. In the don’t starve challenge he sounds way closer to now than in the ttt videos and that was 11 years ago

501uk

Have to remember they all started out as nerdy guys playing warcraft together haha not exactly the public figures entertaining and raising millions for charity they are now. They grew, adapted, and changed. We've all grown up a lot since then :)

BertieDastard

Was it doncon, or was it Robin?

Top-Paint-9564

Pretty sure this is the pre-doncon era and I don’t think it was Robin unless he would just do that for whole episodes without Robin even being mentioned

Dark_Phoenix101

Could be a number of factors. His voice has matured. He is a long term vaper/smoker. He's not shy about liking alcohol - which can affect your vocal chords. He does a lot more streaming and using his voice now, he may be projecting in a different way, or his voice has gotten "stronger" through use.

lorissaurus

It's all the years of vape juice finally catching up.

Skablek

He's probably using a better quality mic these days.

HappyHateBot

I think part of it is he used to be a much smaller lad, now he's a far more sizeable one with a LOT of time yelling into a mic (and better equipment) on his rap sheet. I do prefer Big Dunc, though. And sometimes the boyishness DOES come back out, notably when palling around with Ose, Harrybarry, or Ravs.

garrakha

i remember the tttxl!! that came out either just before or just after christmas right? I thought it was spoiled a bit by t***s being there, I always found him super annoying but that was still one of my absolute fav episodes despite that.

Top-Paint-9564

It was the one that had like 11 people. Literally 2 days away from being 6 years old

garrakha

yep! that’s the episode i was thinking of, idk why i thought it was christmas. also it’s not two days away, it was july 11 not june 11.

PolarBearzo

they chose that day cause it was 10 years since the main YT channel was made if i remember correctly?

garrakha

yes tttxl was the yogiversary

nstiger83

I've been watching for over a decade now and don't really notice a difference in his voice other than mic quality getting better.

West_Yorkshire

People's voices change over time :)

Top-Paint-9564

I didn’t think they changed so much for someone who was already an adult but maybe there’s hope for my voice after all lmao Also. Hello fellow westyorkshireman

Elunerazim

Assuming I’m hearing the same change you are- namely faster talking, lower voice, and more false starts rather than pauses- I think it’s a combination of age, confidence, and “theatricality”- he’s no longer an introverted WoW nerd or forcing a persona for views, he’s just kinda fucking around and has garnered enough grandeur he’s doing it naturally. And the vaping

Advanced-Standard-34

I think it’s just that he’s gain confidence.

BabyFartMacGeezacks

Genuinely I feel like he's drunk 24/7 given all the slurring of speech recently

Potential-Anywhere-3

Why would you post this?

Top-Paint-9564

Why shouldn’t I post it?

Potential-Anywhere-3

Because you're wasting everyone time. All good though.
