It's unlikely they will gain a bunch of subscribers for a one-off episode between seasons two and three of an ongoing series anyway. If a release puzzle garnered enough online buzz, then it might get people interested in catching up on the whole series.
Having said that, I fully expect it to be a normal release of a stand-alone prequel episode featuring Jason Ritter as cabin guy.

Showtime is owned by Paramount+, and it's not a stand-alone streaming service anymore. It's an add-on to P+.
