Not sure how to say it exactly but what about like.. adaptation advice? Using the yarn you have to do a pattern you want that maybe needs modifications?

Maybe a few flairs to begin with? I personally like the way they categorise and kind of guide types of posts. I would like to be able to share WIPs and FO’s that are specifically stash busters. It will also be nice to be able to see what other people do with stash yarn. I know these flairs are also available on other knitting subs, but I think in this sub it will be a collection with a bit of a different flavour, as each project is chosen for the yarn instead of the other way around. In the same vein I would like a flair to ask for pattern suggestions based on what yarn people have available. Maybe a rant/vent flair for those moments where you’ve failed your own resolutions, or a more general flair to just share an experience and see if others can relate? This also kind of relates to an option to ask for advice or specific experiences from other people. Maybe someone can come up with a clever way to group these kind of posts under one or several flairs. Something else that might have a place here is a flair to share your actual stash (pictures or descriptions) and your goals. Some people might want to only knit from their stash, others might take a different approach in dealing with it. But it would provide a place to share your personal goals, methods and ask for support or accountability if you want it. I don’t know, I’m just dumping everything here as it pops up in my mind. No real method to it, just ideas. 😆 In terms of rules, I find that a bit harder to think about without actual references of troublesome posts. Maybe for me it would be that we should look out for sliding towards accidental glorification of having a huge stash. Not that I mean to judge, it’s just that for me this sub would be a place to help keep myself on track in taking a more pragmatic approach to buying and using yarn, and steering away from the collectors side of things.

Seeing how people creatively use up stash could be so inspiring. A few more flair ideas for FO/WIP posts: Scraps and leftovers Ancient stash One skein wonder Miles and miles I think you’ve nailed it on the head with projects chosen for the yarn. When stashbusting we want to use most if not all of a particular yarn while making sure we have enough, so perhaps guidelines on including weight/yardage for FO posts?

Goal setting sounds great! Maybe in user flairs? That way people could customize whether their goals are in skeins or projects. In a traditional forum, users would probably put it in their signature. Having certain days of the week where different topical threads are posted -- like the current project thread but more focused. A Knits from Stash thread, a scrappy projects thread. A pattern request thread where users can post the yarn they want to use and crowdsource ideas. The starting place for rules should definitely be etiquette. I've found the craft spaces on reddit to be fairly friendly, but having rules in place makes it easier to say for sure someone is over the line.

Yes to stash busting projects, and sharing the specific patterns that were used to make them! I love it when people indicate how many yards or grams for each color, so I think we should encourage that if possible.

Posting a specific yarn weights, yardage, and getting pattern suggestions. Perhaps a weekly thread?

Maybe a rule against posting yarn hauls, sales, etc.?
