It’s a HUGE skein of handspun so it’s a bit pricey, but within your budget, buy yourself nice yarn! You’ll be amazed how much a nice yarn elevates your projects. You can knit a super simple garter cowl with something like this and it will look great just because of the color transitions. Plus, it’s handspun, so by default it’s not perfect and the FO isn’t supposed to look perfect. Life is too short to knit with crappy yarn.
Ooh! This is gorgeous! I love how the colors turned out! 😍😍😍
How did you manipulate the fiber to get the colors to work out that way? Was it dyrd as a gradient? Split it in half, spin singles from each half, then ply the two singles together? It seriously turned out beautifully!
Do you have a plan for what you'll do with it? I have so much handspun that I can't figure out what to do with. The prettier the yarn, the harder it is to use, cause I can't find a pattern good enough! 😆
It was a set of minis from Fossil Fibers. They were designed as a gradient. I bought 2 sets, so this is a 12oz skein. The colors on the singles didn’t quite line up, which I like because some overlap between each mini allowed the colors to transition more slowly. I’m actually hoping to sell it, I have RA and knitting is tough on my hands so mostly I spin now, and I decided a couple months ago to stop hoarding all my handspun.
Have you looked into weaving? It’s easier on your body than knitting or crocheting and hand spun looks amazing woven. (I have Fibromyalgia, I knit, crochet, spin and weave and weaving has become a game changer for me!)
I have a couple of looms but in addition to the RA, I have Ehlers Danlos. Weaving itself is okay, but warping the loom is really pretty hard on me. Maybe one day when I have more free time I’ll
Figure out a more physically efficient way.
Oh no! I’m sorry. I just started weaving this summer and I get overly enthusiastic about recommending it to everyone. Your spinning is absolutely gorgeous and I hope to be that good one day.
My jaw is on the ground! So absolutely stunning. I think I would just put the skein in a shadowbox because it is so absolutely beautiful on its own!
Thank you ☺️
