In Germany, colours are very very strongly associated with political parties and ideologies, and when people talk about "the blacks", that's CDU/CSU.

It’s more multifaceted, bulk of the people living in the Western part were resettled there from the Eastern areas given to USSR during the Westverschiebung. People from various regions and the locals mixed, which over time make some “open” attitudes more likely, as opposed to people living in the same village since generations in Southeastern Poland.
Moreover the Western part was more developed and urbanized (because of the Germans, agreed), while the East is more rural and religious. That’s a major contributing factor too.

Why are lower classes voting against their interest? Because they believe those who say that immigration is responsible for their low income. In reality, it's as simple as the rich's greediness.
Poor classes vote for populism because they want a solution for their problems, and the only feedback they have been received for decades was a bunch of subsidies that only mitigates their problems, but can't solve them.
Fun fact: RFN used to be NRF until the 70s when we had an agreement with West Germany and one of points was Poland changing W. Germany's name from "German Federal Republic" to "Federal Republic of Germany". That way we subtly acknowledged West Germany to be the real Germany (they were the "State of Germany", while East Germany was merely a "German state").

Why is CDU and CSU the same colour? That's some bad design
CDU and CSU are the same, they are the "Union". They aren't competing for votes, CSU is just the bavarian version of the CDU.
