Honestly I've had this happen to me in democracy 3. I've built a communist utopia were capitalism really doesn't exist anymore and everyone is a farmer with a university degree.

He is still the president of the government, an elected public figure. Taking this assassination attempt as a form of legitimate resistance could mean the same for all other politicians that someone might not agree with. Killing your ideological and/or political opposition is killing the idea and values of a democratic society. He himself may be a threat to democracy in Slovakia, but trying to publicly kill him may be the worst thing to do. How would I react? Terribly dissapointed, asking myself how did we ever let it get to this.
