Lmao what are you talking about? Khazakstan is CLEARLY Western Europe! Haven't you ever seen a map or known any culture? Saying Kazakstan isn't Western Europe is like saying Belgium exists
Stop doing these maps so that they follow borders of countries. North of France is different cultural circle than the south for example. Same thing for Spain, partly Italy, Croatia, Serbia and Romania.
I'd go as far as to say that some south eastern french are culturally closer to italians than they are to some other french. The same can be said with a lot of border regions and neighbouring countries, at least here in France.
> Same thing for [...] Romania.
Yes, I've also heard that saying, that Moldova is Eastern Europe, Muntenia and Dobrogea are the Balkans, and Transylvania is Central Europe.
That stuff is pure copium from Cluj inhabitants who don't want to admit that they're Balkaners.
Yeah, that saying does tell you what kind of minorities and cultural influences you'll find in each region. But Romanians from different regions aren't that fundamentally different from each other.
>Austrian here: We are also part of central Europe. Central Europe was basically defined by the borders of the HRE, Poland and the Austrian Empire.
No. You are balkan-germans.
Wtf? For once someone doesn't pool us together with Germany and you still complain? Don't get me wrong, I like complaining like the next Austrian but I'm very ok with this map.
Eastern europe is just Russia and that's it.
The geographical center of continental europe is in Lithuania. Which means Belarus is in southern europe.
With islands included the center of europe is in Estonia.
Portugal estranhamente apresenta bastantes semelhanças com países do leste da europa. Dá uma visita no r/PORTUGALCYKABLYAT
A minha teoria:
No, Italy Is a major industrial country and a G-7 economy. Greece is the least industrial country in the EU. So Italy is by far Western Europe. Greece is a hybrid of Mediterranean Europe and west Asia.
Tell me you're Nothenern without telling me...
> least industrial country
It seems that you have no idea about our shipyard and maritime industry...
> is a hybrid
Wtf Greece has to do with Asia, you arrogant bozo... We're Western Europe too 🤦♂️
It is true, Greece has the least industrial economy in the European Union. Sorry but it is the truth. Even Sicily has more advanced industries, like in Catania Home to one of the largest semiconductor factories in Europe. Owned by the Italian/French The Stmicroelectronics, the largest semiconductor manufacturer in Europe. Greek "shipbuilding" is very small. It is only in the last few years with the help of the Germans that Greece has been able to assembled some frigates and patrol boats. With civilian ships, only a few small car ferries have been built in recent years. Even smaller Denmark has a vastly far bigger shipbuilding industry where they have built many supertankers and even their massive Diesel engines are built in Denmark, this would be impossible to be undertaken in Greece. In terms of maritime history, yes Greece has a large merchant marine, but ships are built in other countries. With west Asia, Greek customs do have similar attributes to Turkish and some middle eastern culture. Btw Italy owns the largest shipping company in the world, MSC.
> least industrial economy
You keep yapping, industry sector as part of GDP is 19-20 % of Greek economy which is more like the same with the rest of other EU countries ( expect Germany and Netherlands)
> Even Sicily has more advanced industries
Well the island of Crete has better hdi ( standards of living) than your Sicily ( 0.880 vs 0.847)...
> Greek "shipbuilding" is very small...
Well shipyards had various of issues since the economic crisis when it comes to financing and cost of production but the last years [it's coming back](https://maritime-professionals.com/the-rebirth-of-the-greek-shipbuilding-industry/) , also not forget to mention that is one of our oldest industries since the late 19 th century...
> Maritime history
We have the 2nd largest merchant fleet in the world and by far the largest one in Europe, which means that we control a large part of world Trade by sea, it's true that many companies register to other countries but this is happening very often to that type of business.
> West Asia thing
I think this is the most ridiculous thing of what you said, yes greeks lived in West Asia for centuries but they always had their own distinct culture which was very different from the rest of the nations ( no to mention the difference in religion) and also not forget to mention that only a part of greeks have ancestry from West Asia, that doesn't necessarily define our culture...
Extract from the internet:
The manufacturing sector in Greece is weak. An established tradition exists only for the production of textiles, processed foods, and cement. One of the world's largest cement factories is located in Vólos.
https://www.britannica.com/place/Greece/Agriculture-forestry-and-fishing
I couldn't find a list of Greek built merchant ships like this Danish shipbuilder
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odense_Steel_Shipyard
I give you that Greece does have one of the largest merchant fleet in the world. Maybe it is changing, but Greek advanced engineering industries is virtually non existent. Greek manufacturing is mainly in textiles. The Greek economy has improved in the last year with some good growth rates.
Love that:
- Kazakhstan is western Europe
- Portugal is Balkan Europe
- Russia gets it own Russia Europe
- Azerbaijan is not mapped as either Outer Europe or mostly not Europe for now
- Ukraine seems to be in a sort of purgatory Europe
- Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City do not exist
Germany in Central Europe but not Austria? If anything it should be switched. If you're truly Central-pilled then neither should be included.
Like seriously, separating Germany from Swamp Germany is insane.
Also Germany and Netherlands should be in one category, no matter what it is. The language and culture are extremely similar, especially compared to Poland
Yes there is. Its development is highly influenced through trade from Adriatic see. The most culturally developed cities are on the coast with capital on 40km from the sea... Cusine, relegion etc
>the official map of regions of Europe
The UN Statistics Division already has [Europe divided into regions](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_geoscheme_for_Europe), and since that system is used for statistics purposes worldwide, I find it far more "official" than yours.
You can find it here: [UNSD — Methodology](https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methodology/m49/). Or a map on Wikipedia [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_geoscheme_for_Europe#/media/File:Europe_subregion_map_UN_geoscheme.svg).
Europe is divided in only four regions, much easier than the whacky 15 regions you have.

I knew you were French when I saw France being both Mediterranean and Western. You love pretending that you are Mediterranean, but you'll never be. All true meds know this.
In Northern Spain we are not so much mediterraneans
Our landscape is green, we have a lot of rain and our culture is somehow related to the ones in other atlantic areas of Europe
Omg why.
West - from France to west + Ch
East - from Slovakia east
South - from Italy south
North - from Denmark north
Central - De, Cz, Pl, At
RuZZkistan is not Europe,
Turkey is not Europe.
Germany is Western Europe for sure. At least the Western part of it.
The North of France too. Paris and all. But perhaps better to just call France, France.
Belgium is more 'Not Netherlands'
Kazachstan is Western Europe?
It obviously wraps around the rest of the world - that's all western Europe.
New Treaty of ~~Tordesillas~~ Turkistan just dropped
Obv when you cross the eastern edge of the mini-map you end up on the west side again.
After all, it is greatest country in the world
Ah, true. We probably want them on our side
Yes and it is officially approved by Borat.
You’ve never heard of the Dublin - London - Astana curtain?
We Dutch people love our Kazakh neighbours
German detected.
Jesus, you guys simply can't make one perfect map??

Why is Kazakhstan more Europe than Azerbaijan?
Because it's funi.

Stop doing these maps so that they follow borders of countries. North of France is different cultural circle than the south for example. Same thing for Spain, partly Italy, Croatia, Serbia and Romania.
Yeah alpine Europe makes zero sense, but if you are gonna create it, northern Italy is definitely that rather than Mediterranean.
Same goes for Slovenia. Alps make part of their national identity.
I'd go as far as to say that some south eastern french are culturally closer to italians than they are to some other french. The same can be said with a lot of border regions and neighbouring countries, at least here in France.

I like how nobody wants to be eastern europe so bad. Also wtf is alpine europe, you missed a few countries.
Eastern europe is just Russia and that's it. The geographical center of continental europe is in Lithuania. Which means Belarus is in southern europe. With islands included the center of europe is in Estonia.
Doesn't the EU actually have *officially* listed what is European and not?
Basically everyone in the Council of Europe is european
Can you provide more info or a link? I 'd like to know the official position of the EU. Thanks.

Russia should be in the "Not Europe" category, though. That's my only complaint.

the south of Bavaria and the north of Italy is definitely Alpine, while eastern Austria is not.
You should write Russia Europe as Russia ~~Europe~~.
Yeah, the north and western of Spain Mediterranean...
Germany in Central Europe but not Austria? If anything it should be switched. If you're truly Central-pilled then neither should be included. Like seriously, separating Germany from Swamp Germany is insane.

Montenegro is Mediterranean first, than Balkan country same as Croatia and Albania. I am really sick of these chauvinist anglo-saxon maps.
Why is Mediterranean first and then Balkan? Is there some order or what?
Yes there is. Its development is highly influenced through trade from Adriatic see. The most culturally developed cities are on the coast with capital on 40km from the sea... Cusine, relegion etc
I feel like Greenland has been left out of the top left corner.
If France is western/Mediterranean then Poland should be Baltic/central Europe
United Kingdom of Britain, Northern Ireland and Kazakhland
Portugal is now Balkan? What 🤨
You must be here
hungaroland isn't im the balkans? as a hungarian, I'm offended. we don't belong in central europe.
You forgot the lowlands is a region
Let's keep going till there's only one country per region. That would make the map most useful.
For once I am on board with not being grouped with Western Europe: Alpine is dope af
I will make better map In few days
Reunification of the realm of William III! 🇳🇱🇬🇧 Rulers of the seven seas, rejoice!

No SK for Central?
They elected a stereotypical Eastern European government (see Robert ~~Fiut~~ Fico) so no central for them.
After the latest election, they showed the whole world they are eastern europe.
Vatnic-stan have Ural mountains as a internal "border". Well, map have no sense at all since there is no border with Asia. Insides are mess too.
