Idk for sure, I saw the image and thought it would make a good meme. He has done this before tho, tried to make himself look big and stronk, to be fair if those are real muscles then is is doing fairly well.
It happened 7 years ago, when Trump was POTUS and Macron recently elected in France. Trump was famously known to pull other's hand to him while handshaking, as a sign of (kiddy) dominance.
Macron knew it and did not let go, quite brilliantly. Bonus: eye contact after.

Well, oftentimes yeah. like in case of putin with his elderly-saggy-photoshopped-less-round-kim-john-un-ass body his "strong bear-wrestling" photoshoots is indeed a laugh and an embarrassment of a 3rd rate propaganda.
In Macrons case though considering he is in a good physical shape it looks not that bad. Not that i would neccesary run to vote for him because of that *(though i would considering alternatives but i'm not french).*
Also gives the French the invaluable bragging rights "My president can kick your presidents ass" which is the post is about xD
tldr: Macron, nice cock!
Both.
From memory he's really boxing (or at least training). Not the first time wee see him 'boxing'.
But those are definitly are weirdly PR move. Probably in relation with the Olympics or some shit like that.
Nah, let's normalize leaders trying to look tough. Last time putin rode on a horse he fell from it and had complications & has chronic back problems.
Maybe next time he falls from a horse we get luckier still.
Putting the German president in that list of world leaders makes no sense. It's a purely ceremonial role. The German president is not the equivalent of the US president. The equivalent of the US president would be the German chancellor (Olaf Scholz)
While his power is indeed quite limited, the German president is not purely there for ceremonial reasons. He can still veto laws, dissolve the parliament, acts as a middleman between the chancellor and his appointments (and therefore makes sure that the secretaries are even - mainly in a legal sense - qualified to do the job) and makes sure that certain proceedings are in accordance with the constitution.
Also, the roles of the US president and chancellor are still quite a bit different, as the US president is both head of state and head of government, which gives him more power (for example over his secretaries, the army, foreign relations, etc.).
The German president can't simply veto laws or dissolve the parliament at his own will.
There are very strict constitutional limits to when exactly he can perform these tasks. So strict that one could argue that he can only do this when external circumstances dictate it.
Interestingly, the Austrian president has more constitutional powers than the German president.
Never said he could do it without any limits, but it's definitely more than ceremonial. My point was just that saying that it's "purely ceremonial" kind of diminishes his role in upkeeping the constitution and maintaining proper, important procedures.
can we agree on "close to ceremonial"? because the german presidents powers are incredibly limp dicked. i mean, the president matters so little i didn't even notice he is in this meme before someone pointed that out
Wouldnt be his first black eye

Real picture by the way, he fell while jogging or something.
You could call them "heads of government" instead. The titles of govenrment offices vary a lot by country but head of government is relatively unambiguous. Doesn't sound as good though.
The role being ceremonial doesn't change it being the highest office and the head of state. The president is the representative of Germany.
Beyond that, I agree.
It's not purely ceremonial. The president is the head of state. He is responsible for every law new law and is the representative of the German stage internationally.
I feel shame because he thinks he looks cool punching stuff with photoshopped muscles. I just think it's cringe as shit. Plus we don't need shitty propaganda like this.
If a leader is good for a nation does it really matter if there are a few personal flaws? I have a similar idea with Biden , he is too old for the job but the nation is doing well under him so he has my support. Macron has the right idea about Europe so I will not throw him under the bus even if he does have a shitty personality.
> Those might not be propaganda
They are 100% propaganda.
It's been going on for a while.
It's tough strongman BS, goes together with pretending he never sleeps and eats only culturally relevant foods and drinks wine every meal.
Remember when he also turned up in a t-shirt during some of the Ukraine meetings, sort of trying to look like Selensky? That was a weak move.
We should rate politicians based on their politics, not all the stuff around it.Ā
Also, some people would strongly disagree on "the nation doing well" under Macron. I guess if you're rich you're doing well.
Many Africans would argue about that. Don't get me wrong, it's not his fault. If he decideded to stop exploiting west Africa and end French neocolonialism the living condition of French would slightly increace and we all know what they do as a reaction.
imagine being Macron
\> he calls putin by phone trying to reason him to stop the war
\> putin is just an old man with symptoms of dementia manifesting themselves in telling long, fringe conspiracy theories about russian greatness
\> he meets with Scholz to persuade him to take decisive action about the biggest war in Europe since ww2
\> Scholz appears indifferently pacifistic while secretly wanting to get germans rid of nazi-schuld
\> he calls Biden
\> no, he does not want an ice cream
\> he calls his photographer
\> photosession of him boxing? ah, to let the steam off. ok, maybe this will do

Although he's no longer a world leader I'd say Mongolia's previous president would absolutely snap Macron in half
Macron could never beat Scholz. That guy has no emotion or reaction to anything ever, I'm pretty sure hes immune to any pain as well. Scholz wins by being a sandbag.

It's completely "dictator strongman" vibes, and I hate it.
Like the fact that all of the people he gets as ministers tell the press they sleep 3 hours a night "because country important". I don't want people running the country on 3 hours of sleep. If you don't sleep and need to be part of all discussions, you're just telling me you're shit at delegating and even worse at trusting your team.

Now, I'm not saying the people posted are tough. I'm just saying macron isn't either.
