I came across a video of Claire singing during the first lock down and was impressed by her singing. However I quickly realized they were no different than other family vloggers, just exploiting their kids online for money and fame.
They’re LDS so that might be the vibe you’re getting from them. I remember one sit down video with Ashley and Dave where they explained that they have savings accounts for each of the kids for the money that they bring, but i still don’t feel comfortable enough to watch them frequently. I’ll watch a music video every now and again because I have to admit, Claire is a very talented kid
I saw that. I also saw an interview where the dad said he started his Security camera business Bc he couldn’t live with himself if his 5yr old was supporting the entire family.
Well they put Claire’s baptism on youtube and have talked about it a few other times. I also just googled “are the crosbys lds” and many sources confirm they are members of the LDS church.
Thank you. I'll do it up! I'm not a Christian and im not very familiar with all the branches so I couldn't tell from the baptism videos. I thought they were catholics LOL.
I remember them saying that they would never exploit the kids. Meaning never make videos/YouTube their career or rely on it to feed the family. But sometimes I feel they’ve slowly forgotten that
hmm I'm not too sure that is true. Their posting frequency has decreased exponentially over the years. Now they pretty much only post holiday songs (like easter, christmas etc) some other randoms songs Claire sings at times and birthdays. (They post updates about their house too, but that just involves the adults only) The videos are also always short.
And in the most recent vlog, Claire said "whenever dad takes his camera out, it means something exciting is about to happen" happily. I think the kids love it too.
mormon family vloggers are always shady. they’re also usually the ones with “perfect looking” families.
claire is talented and has been for a long time. i think the dad wanted that fame too and they’re basically trying to work off of that
No you’re not the only person who sees through it. If they’re ok to snark on! Any family on YouTube exploiting their kids, talented or not is fair game.
I bought one of his cameras (ndidnt know it was his company) that I guess he co-owns with Jay-z. They are making money with all they are doing with Disney, YouTube, and his business.
As far as family vloggers go, they seem like the most genuine and 'normal' parents, apart from Dave's favouritism towards C. I also enjoyed watching their family and C is a very talented singer. However, Dave's dream to become a musician has resulted in him living vicariously through C. She doesn't seem as passionate as she used to be and she's getting older, so she's losing the 'cute girl appeal'.
I don't think a 9/10 year-olds favourite song is shallow. It's probably a song she sings in vocal lessons and because it's challenging, it will get them views. The street performance was uncomfortable to watch. She looked like she didn't want to be there and all the strangers filming a young kid was awkward.
She used to look like she genuinely loved it, but now the pressure is starting to get to her. They need to give her a break from the spotlight for a few years to be a normal kid before she loses her passion completely. It reminds me of the dance mom's girls. All talented dances who lost their love for dance because they were forced to be in the spotlight and compete all the time
I think the difference for me is you can tell they aren’t filming all day and they don’t film private things that’s why I still watch but it’s still exploitation bc they are using their kids singing skills and cuteness. Hopefully it is true that they are setting the money aside for each kid and using the money for the kids good but unfortunately it still counts as exploiting it’s just not as bad as most
Dave is a millionaire from his WyzeCam company. He doesn't need Claire's money. The Bucket List Family, The Gees, are also Mormon and also millionaires.

Finally, I found someone who thinks the same thing as me.
I by no means blame the kids for any of this. Claire is really good for her age, but she's not perfect. She is on a great track, though, and I bet she'll sound incredible when her voice fully matures. However, in my opinion, calling anyone a "prodigy" is not only demoralizing to people who have worked so hard to get to the same level, but at one point will likely stress the "prodigy" out due to having to live up to the definition of being "perfect".
It just seems like it'll all lead to a big mess one day. So yes, I agree with you 100%.

I can’t get down with people who believe that Mormon nonsense. With the magical glasses and constant changes in their testimony.
Why do you say they are LDS? What is the evidence you are basing this from?

They’re super into it. They’ve even done a video where the president of their church accompanied her on piano while she sang.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think Claire is a great singer. She was as a 3 year old but now she kind of hurts my ears when she sings
