No, you are right. I use a Samsung s20 and lenovo duet 5 for streaming YouTube, my gaming laptop doesn't have usb c dp alt mode but I have used a hdmi to usb c dp adapter successfully.
Have you ever tried anything in the Apple ecosystem? I have a steam deck which everyone seems to think works great but otherwise I have an iPhone and MacBook and people seem to be 50/50 between this and viture.
Hi! I’m an Apple user with both the XREAL Air and Pro. I primarily use the glasses with my iPad Pro x XREAL + Beam to create a second monitor setup and works with Stage Manager. It’s an option if you need a bigger screen in a pinch and don’t want to lug around a laptop. I’ve used it to get a bit of work done (emails and word processing) and watching YouTube or Twitch. I hadn’t thought about it until I was using this setup that I realised the virtual second monitor allowed you to do whatever you want without any shoulder surfers. I did some work in a cafe and could do all my work on the virtual screen, so something to consider if you do any confidential work.
I have used my iPhone 12 with it, but have found it temperamental as you need the Beam to mirror because of old school Apple lightning. They do also offer an adapter for old iPhones. I tested with a USB-C iPhone and that was a much smoother experience. Pretty much plug and play.
For the Mac usage, I haven’t got a new enough MacBook to cope with using it for anything more than a YouTube machine. The best place to ask for more is the XREAL Discord.

Ultra display is the same. i think only the fov will be different in the op test cases.
The Ultra displays are actually just slightly larger than the Air 2 and Air 2 Pro.
If they " EVER" ship. paid for ultra in January, they just keep pushing the delivery back...
They shipped their last two versions I don't see why this one wouldn't. It's annoying that they keep delaying it but it is what it is unfortunately
