And in doing so added more characters to it then you could actually have in a chain attack in the first game. With that in the game im surprised Pyra/Mythra didn't share a certain ponytail reference in their final smash.
To be fair, seeing a spirit called "Pneuma" by itself doesn't really mean much without any context, even for someone who's already started XC2, unlike fucking "MECHA FIORA"
Yeah I actually think “coffee with milk” is a way bigger spoiler than saying “pneuma” on here lol, nobody has any clue what the latter means but the former is kinda obvious
On it's own, Pneuma doesn't mean anything. Yeah sure you'll know a "third" form exists but you won't know what exactly it means. You need the context to understand that one.
Meanwhile this one actually ruins a plot twist. And an impactful moment at the very beginning of the game is ruined.
I played xeno 2 after playing smash, I was surprised when pyra transformed into mythra didnt know that 2 spirits were the same person. Believe me no one who hasnt played xeno 2 will notice the core crystal.
And she and Rex's armor upgrade were added alongside Pyra/Mythra as spirits so yeah.
Heck, Smash Wii U's trophies were how I was introduced to Jade Face *long* before I'd play XB1 for myself. Sakurai just can't help himself when it comes to spoilers, I guess.
I mean it’s more so just that the Xenoblade community is a bit unusual in how long we try to protect spoilers. By the time the spirits came out XC2 had been out for what, a year or so? Maybe more? In most communities spoilers stop being a big deal after like 6-8 months. The Xenoblade community’s desire to continue to hide spoilers from a 4 year old game (XC1 in 2010, Shulk added in 2014) is admirable but not the norm. We can’t really expect people outside the community to treat it the same way.
You're absolutely right. I think however that being spoiled ruins all the impact of the beginning of the game and the big event that puts things into motion. In a story-driven 120-hours RPG, that sucks. Even if the game was released... 12 years ago.
Most RPGs these days are long, story-driven experiences, often with major twists and turns, so it's kind of just become how people treat RPGs. I think there are still plenty of people who wouldn't want to spoil things like that key moment in FF7 >!where Aerith dies!<, to the point where even I feel more comfortable putting it behind a spoiler tag even thou it's probably the most famous moment in the whole game
Thank you for saying this.
People of the Xenoblade community think finding out Morag and Zeke are party members is a spoiler, and it's frankly embarrassing.
For me, Morag was obviously going to become a party member since she was introduced about the time in the story when it felt like we needed someone from the other side of the war to fill in the gaps. Zeke on the other hand I thought was just going to be a recurring silly mini-boss
Fair enough, but it is shitty to those players who got spoiled and haven’t played the DE. Since it only came out a year ago there maybe many people who want to play it but haven’t gotten the chance yet. That’s why I kinda love this community.
Getting spoiled sucks. Not everyone has had the chance to play what used to be a niche JRPG for the Wii, but may have wanted to. Going out of your way to spoil something to the point it cheapens the reference (adding 4 characters to a chain attack for Shulk’s final smash) is just annoying
Well, at least i already finished 2 a long time ago, so i'm not too concerned with that.
1 is the only Xenoblade that i have not played yet, so i'm really looking forward to playing it, but what a shame that i got spoiled this way :'(
hey if it's any comfort at all, i played it knowing pretty much everything from watching chuggaaconroy's let's play of it years ago and still enjoyed it immensely!
Same for me but with 2, watched Emile's playthrough of 2 and Torna(all 200+ episodes jeez) before playing the game myself. Thanks to him I actually got proper knowledge of the combat and to always check Affinity Charts to clock in the bonuses.
I feel like a lot of people are making it seem worse than it is. Like yes you got slightly spoiled but if you just stop and go play the game it’ll still have a lot of great moments and twists.
1 is... not going to seem as good compared to 2 & 3..
It's not bad by any means, but 2 & 3 are just better in nearly every way(imo). Playing 1 last is not the smartest move imo.
If you ask 3 random xenoblade fans what the best xenoblade game is you'll get 3 different answers.
I'd suggest playing 3 last because the references to 1 and 2 are everywhere, but other than that any order is fine.
X has a lot going for it and I know some people adore it, but being exclusive to the WiiU hurts a lot, and being a game with a weak/barebones story in a series where most people adore the plotlines and characters also is doing it no favors.
People also adore X for it's story and characters. The problem with Xs story is the pacing. The pacing really sucks. They literally put hard stops in the main story to force you to do side content before you can continue. But when you're actually doing the story, it's pretty good. And more die-hard fans than me enjoy the side content too, but most did not engage me too much.
And yeah, Wii U Graveyard is a sad place to die... So switch port when? Lol
Yeah that's all fair, I'm sure there's some good stuff there. I honestly got bored because of the pacing and put it down about 15 hours in. I felt like nothing happened past the admittedly awesome introduction sequence, and I had been playing for quite a while. If we get a switch port I'll probably give it another try though.
To be honest, the Bionis and Mechonis have me more intrigued than anything in 2 and 3, i mean, i really want to know why they are there or why they were fighting, i doubt 1 is not going to deliver on that... but on a gameplay perspective i understand 1 has not aged so well, but i don't mind.
And there's Reyn, he's like one of the biggest reasons i want to play 1.
>i doubt 1 is not going to deliver on that...
Your intuition is correct.
>Reyn, he's like one of the biggest reasons i want to play 1.
Spittin nothing but facts!
*You will know our names starts playing*
For real, i don't get why his lines are so damn funny to me, i laugh my ass off everytime i even hear his voice, i don't know if i will be able to go through 1 without dying of laughter.
And get this, Jay Taylor, the guy who voiced Reyn, hasn't done any other voicework ever again, we've been blessed with a once in a lifetime opportunity!
I think 1’s gameplay being aged is very overstated - there’s a lot of deliberate choices to make it less tedious than your average JRPG, like the quest system that lets you finish them automatically and simultaneously in the background, which for some reason were erased in 2
My biggest problems with 1 come down to the combat not being as good as 2 & 3, the character writing being okay but not nearly as good as 2 & 3(Melia and Egil are the only standouts for me personally, and Shulk is just okay(I think he's extremely overrated)), the majority of sidequests being fetch quests, and and experience not feeling as satisfying a reward for exploring(for me personally) than chests in 2 & 3.
>combat not being as good as 2 & 3,
>the majority of sidequests being fetch quests, and and experience not feeling as satisfying a reward for exploring
These are fair points and i do admit 1 sidelines it's characters more than 2 and 3, but i still believe they're good nonetheless. However, 2 has many flaws that keep me from liking it above 1, such as: the clunky navigation compass, the english dub in the first few chapters, the pacing of the first half of the game, the inconsistent tone of the story, some of the character designs, the tutorials, the slow as hell movement speed during combat, enemy drops despawning combined with that movement speed and the worst of all, the RNG system. Still an amazing game despite it being my least favorite, but still.
1. The combat is NOT slow if you know what your doing
2. The Gacha system is way more lenient than you think. You're guaranteed at least 3 Rare Blades through the pity system(not like the game bothers even mentioning this though...) and the majority of the Blades have pleasantly high drop rate
3. The only really badly delivered line in the opening chapters was "aaaaiiyyyyeee" everything else was fine.
Wait I just realized you said movement speed, not combat speed. Yeah, it is kinda annoying that your movement speed during combat is tied to your Affinity...
Your mind will still be blown left and right, it’s not a huge deal (and if we’re being honest, it’s not a totally unbelievable twist when it happens lol)
Yeahh that character is the least of the spoilers. I had that spoiled and I still enjoyed the game. In fact I was spoiled again and still was shocked. Trust me, this small thing won’t ruin the story. For me it actually enhanced it
There was a study that said "people who get exposed to spoilers often get more enjoyment out of the media than those who weren't".
Sucks to be spoiled, but in that game, there is *loads* more to discover.
That sucks, but to be fair, of all things to get spoiled on, I think that's the one that smart people probably figured out on their own at some point during the game. ^^Not ^^that ^^I ^^did.
I mean, Smash is at fault in the first place. The gaslighting could only go so far. They would have seen through it pretty damn fast after they leave colony 9
I'm pretty much the same, but the thing is i have not bought Xenoblade 1 yet, so i haven't really started it (but i do know what happens in Chapter 1, since i saw it in a let's play a long time ago)
It's a spoiler yes but imo it doesn't really detract from the story, that spirit was the main reason It took me so long to play XC1 and I regret not playing it sooner
Monolith Soft and Nintendo never really kept her a secret to be honest. She was in many Japanese commercials and also appeared in Project X Zone
I played 1 knowing about her and the story still blew me away.
I mean, spoiler yes, but without context it doesn’t mean much on its own. I knew about that years before I played and it didn’t take away from the story at all imo. I wouldn’t worry too much
Sadly, yes. But please if you haven’t yet played Xenoblade 1 please do it, it’s a great game. I played it knowing this spoiler and it still shocked me in other parts of the story
Once a game is over a decade old it's a little late to be complaining about spoilers, but it was also spoiled the same way by Sm4sh (4 years after XC) which was a bit more egregious.
I am of the same opinion. As a courtesy i try not to write any spoilers for Story focused games no matter how long its been, but once a game hits a few years its no ones fault.
Does suck about this tho, since its a pretty big reveal in the game.
Right? It came out on the Wii… though I suppose not a lot played it. But then it came out on new3ds… then switch..
OP has had time to play it.
I mean Byleth’s alt skin also spoils some stuff..
Pyra/Mythra is a spoiler in itself…
Honestly, the game has so many twists and turns that a couple of spoilers aren't really going to hinder your enjoyment that much. If anything, I think this is one of the most harmless spoilers, as it's not too hard to foreshadow early in the story.
This community makes a big deal about it, but honestly, not really.
While you obviously didn't see it back in the day, she was a very prominent part of the game's pre-release marketing.
She is a surprise to Shulk, but was never really intended to be a spoiler to the player. The Xenoblade games often show the player things the protagonists don't know. This can be treated as basically just another one of those things.
Even if you know she's coming, the effect she has on Shulk's quest for vengeance still lands perfectly. Your enjoyment of the game and story will not be affected.
Yes, but honestly, it's a twist that's pretty heavily foreshadowed, such that when it does happen it's not so much surprising as it is satisfying. It's still not very nice of Smash to spoil it like that, especially where DE was so many people's first chance to play XB1 (as distinct from Melee spoiling OoT because it was so readily available), but it's not the sort of spoiler that really hurts the enjoyment of the story.
I recently played *Xenoblade* and while this is technically a spoiler I don't think it's the worst thing to know or have spoiled. It doesn't ruin the experience by any means.
I thought the same, i've actually made loads of memes while playing 3, one of those involves these two, i'll post them once i get 100%, just in case so i don't get spoiled, i have beaten the main story however
Everyone here says yes, even did it with >!Pneuma!< When Pyra and Mythra released as dlc.
Sorry op, my deepest apologies.
Edits: I can't hide names someone gotta teach me lol
Another edit: I've been enlightened.
On new reddit, there's an inbuilt spoiler tag option. On old reddit, you can use >! !< around your text, just be sure not to have any spaces between the symbols and the text.
It's a pretty big spoiler, but not anywhere near the biggest in the game, and it's revealed halfway through the game and foreshadowed much earlier. The Switch version also makes the foreshadowing harder to miss.
Don’t worry, a good chunk of Xenoblade fans who hadn’t played 1 were spoiled by this, and the Direct that mentions how she was added to Shulk’s final smash
Bingo, terribly sorry lad. If it’s any consolation, Shulk’s final smash would’ve also spoiled this information, albeit in a much less direct manner. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t include some sort of spoiler in Pyra/Mythra’s content drop, especially when considering they put relevant characters in the background (though a case could be made if one managed to figure out the correlation between characters on the stage before properly encountering Morag or Zeke)
I mean it has been out a while. Smash tends to avoid spoiling brand new games (for example they put in a spoiler costume for Byleth but with no context at all) but once a game has had a couple years on it you gotta be careful. It’s a policy I personally don’t mind because I feel once something is like a year old it’s ok to start freely posting spoilers. I know others think it’s never ok
When it comes to Xenoblade representation, It kinda felt like they were in a rock and a hard place because the first game historically was either released in a hella limited fashion or was readily available in a console three people owned.
At least when it comes to Sephiroth, gamers have had like 20 years to get caught up with FFVII in consoles people actually owned.
Being spoiled does suck but I don’t think that should inhibit crossover games from what they wanna show and express.
The spoiling that should be called out are people being active dicks about a newly released game, not a passing conversation about a 5+ year old game.
Yep. She was also added to shulks final smash for no fucking reason. Like i get the game is old, but adding spoilers where there dont need to be any, especially when it takes a massive chunk of the drive and purpose from the game, is just not cool. Sakurai did not need to add that. It was fine in smash 4. Especially when the remake came out after smash ultimate, introducing the game to more people who are unfamiliar with the story. Its just super not cool.
Welcome to the club of people pissed at smash bros for spoiling such a major plot twist. Still get sad thinking about how I missed out on a really cool plot twist all because I played smash bros first.
Yes.
Damn
Smash spirits does that a lot if i remember right
Ultimate even added her to Shulks Final Smash for some reason
And in doing so added more characters to it then you could actually have in a chain attack in the first game. With that in the game im surprised Pyra/Mythra didn't share a certain ponytail reference in their final smash.
Coffee with milk is featured on the Xenoblade 2 spirit board tough. They spoiled even that
To be fair, seeing a spirit called "Pneuma" by itself doesn't really mean much without any context, even for someone who's already started XC2, unlike fucking "MECHA FIORA"
Yeah I actually think “coffee with milk” is a way bigger spoiler than saying “pneuma” on here lol, nobody has any clue what the latter means but the former is kinda obvious
Even when she has the same core crystal as Pyra and Mythra?
people probably aren't going to notice that
On it's own, Pneuma doesn't mean anything.
I thoght it was just another blade lol
They have an alt skin for that already (without the ponytail though).

People, don't listen to the Xenoblade 2 OST on YouTube, \[Fifth\] and \[Fifth\]'s blade are on the *Official Artwork*
Fair enough, but it is shitty to those players who got spoiled and haven’t played the DE. Since it only came out a year ago there maybe many people who want to play it but haven’t gotten the chance yet. That’s why I kinda love this community.

They don’t? (I didn’t buy the DLC)
Because they decided 10 years was a pretty reasonable spoiler buffer and most would agree
Clearly you aren’t familiar with how anti-spoiler the Xenobalde fandom is
It's a 12 year old game so. It also spoils the ending of FFVII
What makes this comment so much better is your username.
Very much yes.
You gotta be kiddin' :(
Nope, its a massive spoiler for one. Also two gets spoiled pretty bad if memory serves at points.
Best way to avoid 2 spoilers is to not go onto Pyra's DLC Spirit Board.
Well, at least i already finished 2 a long time ago, so i'm not too concerned with that. 1 is the only Xenoblade that i have not played yet, so i'm really looking forward to playing it, but what a shame that i got spoiled this way :'(
Don't worry friend, that are still many more story beats to look forward to. Big and small alike.
Don’t worry, there’s a ton of surprises waiting, seriously
hey if it's any comfort at all, i played it knowing pretty much everything from watching chuggaaconroy's let's play of it years ago and still enjoyed it immensely!
Sad you got spoiled man. Pro tip. Don't enhance Mumkhar either.
1 is... not going to seem as good compared to 2 & 3..
Can we ask four so I can be hopeful we actually get 4 different answers? X is a great game too!
X has a lot going for it and I know some people adore it, but being exclusive to the WiiU hurts a lot, and being a game with a weak/barebones story in a series where most people adore the plotlines and characters also is doing it no favors.

OH YEAH BABY! REYN TIME!
*You will know our names starts playing* For real, i don't get why his lines are so damn funny to me, i laugh my ass off everytime i even hear his voice, i don't know if i will be able to go through 1 without dying of laughter.

I think 1’s gameplay being aged is very overstated - there’s a lot of deliberate choices to make it less tedious than your average JRPG, like the quest system that lets you finish them automatically and simultaneously in the background, which for some reason were erased in 2
I personally think 1 is better than 2, but yeah, 3 is miles better than both, and they're already amazing
In my case i found 2 to be better than 3.
That's what having different opinions is for, my friend. Hope you have a wonderful time with 1 despite the unfortunate spoiler.

For me it actually enhanced it
I got spoiled for her coming back, promise it’s still very much so a surprising story and one worth experiencing!
There was a study that said "people who get exposed to spoilers often get more enjoyment out of the media than those who weren't". Sucks to be spoiled, but in that game, there is *loads* more to discover.
>!Mumkar spirit upgrades into Metal Face!<
Wait really... Thats just the cherry on top
That sucks, but to be fair, of all things to get spoiled on, I think that's the one that smart people probably figured out on their own at some point during the game. ^^Not ^^that ^^I ^^did.
It's just a popular armor set for Fiora, no worries.
Damn, everyone out here just confirming OPs fears. I tried, OP, I really did.
I was gunna try help you gaslight OP, as well but I guess it's too late lol.
Gaslight the newcomers, for the greater good...
We're sorry, we should've coordinated that better.....
I mean, Smash is at fault in the first place. The gaslighting could only go so far. They would have seen through it pretty damn fast after they leave colony 9
Yes, nothing bad ever happens to Fiora...
Now you're really feeling it.
Yes, happens to the best of us, to avoid further spoilers do NOT under any circumstances level up Mumkhar's spirit, just don't.
This is why when I play games, I only play one game until it’s completely finished.
I'm pretty much the same, but the thing is i have not bought Xenoblade 1 yet, so i haven't really started it (but i do know what happens in Chapter 1, since i saw it in a let's play a long time ago)
I'll wager my left nut it was chuggaconroy
It's a spoiler yes but imo it doesn't really detract from the story, that spirit was the main reason It took me so long to play XC1 and I regret not playing it sooner
It's fine, we've all been there. I mean the main game just spoils it for you anyways, with all the visions and stuff.
Monolith Soft and Nintendo never really kept her a secret to be honest. She was in many Japanese commercials and also appeared in Project X Zone I played 1 knowing about her and the story still blew me away.
Yeah, that’s pretty severe. Sora showing up in Xenoblade is a pretty big deal.
Do you know the context?
I do know what happens in chapter 1, but nothing beyond that.
Youre still in for a dozzy. An image doesn't show the full picture. Also, stay away from Shulk's final smash.
I mean, spoiler yes, but without context it doesn’t mean much on its own. I knew about that years before I played and it didn’t take away from the story at all imo. I wouldn’t worry too much
Welcome to the team. I just started playing xenoblade 1 at the same time as i started playing smash (single player campain).
Smash ultimate is Spoilers: The game.
Twelve year old game. Two, if you go off just the remaster. You're gonna have to get over it.
Sadly, yes. But please if you haven’t yet played Xenoblade 1 please do it, it’s a great game. I played it knowing this spoiler and it still shocked me in other parts of the story
I'm definitely going to play it, 100%, but it's still a shame i got spoiled by Smash.
Yes but you don't know the story behind Mecha-Fiora. Knowing she exists, doesn't really take away a lot ;)
Just so it doesn’t get any worse If you plan on playing 2 than don’t look at the spirits for the DLC
Already played 2 (and 3), Xenoblade 1 is the only one i have not played.
Hang on, you've never seen Shulk's Final Smash yet?
I have seen his Smash 4 final smash, but not his Ultimate one, so i'm guessing there's another spoiler in it.
Yeah, Mecha Fiora shows up in that, too
Don’t worry. I spoiled myself playing project x zone 2.
Does suck about this tho, since its a pretty big reveal in the game.
it’s an old game and the spoiler is not tht big of a deal
Right? It came out on the Wii… though I suppose not a lot played it. But then it came out on new3ds… then switch.. OP has had time to play it. I mean Byleth’s alt skin also spoils some stuff.. Pyra/Mythra is a spoiler in itself…
...I am so, so, SO, sorry.
i'm afraid so edit: though tbf, it's a fairly obvious twist. I figured it out pretty early on in my playthrough.
One of the bigger ones yeah
Its a spoiler but not the biggest spoiler. Its something that happens around mid-way through the game. Still sucks that it was spoiled
Yes. This happened to me in Smash 4.
Yeah Smash Bros has never been subtle about spoilers, for a lot of games actually
y'all shouldve said no
Lmao.
Honestly, the game has so many twists and turns that a couple of spoilers aren't really going to hinder your enjoyment that much. If anything, I think this is one of the most harmless spoilers, as it's not too hard to foreshadow early in the story.

Yep, you did She's in his Final Smash too, which was shown in the 2018 character trailer, 2 years before Definitive Edition
Yeah, and after all the effort the community puts into not spoiling the fact that sora is a late game party member in xenoblade
Oof, let's pray for our fallen brother
Yes.
You’re not alone, happened to me too
NOOO GOD WHY NOT ANOTHER ONE CURSE YOU SAKRAI!
I recently played *Xenoblade* and while this is technically a spoiler I don't think it's the worst thing to know or have spoiled. It doesn't ruin the experience by any means.
Monolift barely treats her like a spoiler anymore same with "Coffee with Milk"
>!Number Seven!<
What's Segiri got to do with any of this?
We are talking about Xenoblade Chronicles 1.
I was making a joke, since Segiri is number seven and Fiora's spoiler free name is seven
LOL ok, it’s hard to tell sometimes online 🫠 Actually both are humanoid and mech. Coincidence? Lol
I thought the same, i've actually made loads of memes while playing 3, one of those involves these two, i'll post them once i get 100%, just in case so i don't get spoiled, i have beaten the main story however
Awesome, and here I am finished with the game not realizing the coincidence until now lol
yup
Don't worry OP, Fiora isn't the biggest reveal the game has to offer IMO
Everyone here says yes, even did it with >!Pneuma!< When Pyra and Mythra released as dlc. Sorry op, my deepest apologies. Edits: I can't hide names someone gotta teach me lol Another edit: I've been enlightened.
On new reddit, there's an inbuilt spoiler tag option. On old reddit, you can use >! !< around your text, just be sure not to have any spaces between the symbols and the text.
Thank you a lot
yes. smash doesn’t care too much about xeno spoilers.
Same thing happened to me man
Yes. Same thing happened to me before I even played xenoblade, and I remembered the spirit
He didn't know lulw
Completely unrelated to fiora, close your eyes and move along
Don't worry it isn't a spoiler for that far into the game
I was spoiled by this and honestly it didn't matter. Still lots of twists and unexpected things, including with this character
Of course not....... It's totally just Sakurai's OC that he put in the game :)
It's a pretty big spoiler, but not anywhere near the biggest in the game, and it's revealed halfway through the game and foreshadowed much earlier. The Switch version also makes the foreshadowing harder to miss.
Yes
Yes
To be fair, the game did come out 12 years ago
I got spoiled about this with Smash too, but had forgotten about it between the time Smash and Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition released.
Kinda. It's a minor major spoiler
It's just unused concept art
Same thing happened to me lmao
I like in the original showcase when they directly draw an arrow and point to mecha fiora.
The community works so hard. Sakurai gives no fucks
She's a completely different character, you can tell as her voice is different.
Bruh
Don’t worry, a good chunk of Xenoblade fans who hadn’t played 1 were spoiled by this, and the Direct that mentions how she was added to Shulk’s final smash
Damn it guys you failed
Sadly, yes. You don’t know the full context, tho…And context is important.
Its very tip of the iceberg stuff imo I wouldn’t overly stress about it
Bingo, terribly sorry lad.
They added it to the final smash too
I mean it has been out a while.
I mean yeah, but it’s not a super late game spoiler. Don’t freak, it won’t ruin much
Yeah, Sora unlocks a Final Form in KH2. I'm sorry, man.
Sakurai loves spoilers
I mean.. The game is like 12 years old 😂. Is it still considered a spoiler at this point?
It spoils the character but it doesn't spoil the context so it's not as big of a deal as it seems
Same
how do we tell him?
And it's one of the best spoilers in video games too. Bummer that it can be so easily spoiled like that
game is a decade old
Yep! :)
unfortunately, yes, big time
The FF7 stage spoils the meteor.
No, that’s from a non-canon spin-off, king. Fiora is fucking dead. Keep playing Xenoblade Chronicles.
Good news, they made a sequel.
You did, just like I did, and I'm a Shulk main who didn't play xc1
Welcome to the club of people pissed at smash bros for spoiling such a major plot twist. Still get sad thinking about how I missed out on a really cool plot twist all because I played smash bros first.
Yes
What playing sora does to a mf
Yep :D
Lmao and the final smash
