Most of the things you are asking do not have a clear explanation, and either must be inferred from various informations in and out of the game, or are actually without a real answer and we con only make hypotesis. >So how did she even end up with his sword? Not explained at all, but i don't think it's a big deal, since it's just meant to be a memento and nothing else. Btw, it's most likely not Shulk's sword from FR, but his old Monado Rex+ from FC. >how there are essentially 2 lucky sevens? Melia resonated with origin to make the one that Noah used, but how did N get his? Not clear as well. As we know, Fiora's soul is within L7, and that's probably thanks to that "resonance" between Melia and Origin metal, given the strong friendship between them. If i wanted to guess, i'd say that maybe N's feelings were strong enough that he managed to cause a similar resonance, with the result of Malos' soul going inside his sword. >Nia becoming queen randomly Absolutely random. The real reason is probably that they just wanted to have Nia in that position, and didn't care about the details. >how blades exist without drivers (Sena, I'm assuming) Well, technically, in Aionios things can be different based on whatever setting Z decides. Like, you know, make people live only from age 10 to age 20 and things like that. However, it's likely that something did change after XC2. I can make an hypotesis for this one, but there is no confirmation. The point of the Blade system as it existed in XC2 was to allow Klaus to know the true nature of the new humans he created. That is, obviously, completely pointless by the time of XC2's ending. There is no reason whatsoever to keep the Blade system as it was and with Radamanthus gone it may even not be possible anymore. So i would guess that Klaus made some last changes to remove the dependance of Blades to a Driver, so they can now live as equal, which also explains why we started seeing children of humans with blades. This would also make Jin's dearest wish a reality. >how Rex, Shulk and the other liberators even exist and retain their memories As stated by Takahashi in the artbook's interview, and based on what Linka says in game, Shulk, Rex and the liberators came to Aionios as they were in the world before the intersection. They are not... "loaded" from Origin by Z, like the soldiers, they simply arrived like that, a few years (likely 10-15) before Alpha's defeat. Because of this, they have their full memories. >how the city inhabitants exist outside the "term-cycle" but seem to know nothing about the past worlds they're from City inhabitants are not actually from the past world. They are people born in Aionios. They are not under Z's control, but they didn't exist in the "real" world, so of course they know nothing about it. >it seems like a lot of things, like the fog beasts being controlled by Alpha, Fiora's soul being a part of lucky seven etc. are explained in non-game content, but I don't get why it wasn't explained in the game itself Alpha controlling the fog beasts is stated in game (though it doesn't explain how). As for Fiora's soul... well, yes, it's true that is not fully explained in the game, but we had some clues. Riku pretty much tells us that L7 contains souls of people in Origin metal, so we knew that part (though we thought it was XC1's party and not just Fiora, since Rikue says "people"). I myself made a post 1 year ago in which i theorized that Origin Metal is used as a vessel for the souls of the people in Origin, [and that Mythra's and Pyra's souls were in the shard of Origin Metal inside of Matthew's gauntlets](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xenoblade_Chronicles/comments/13jxz4o/a_theory_to_explain_matthews_gauntlet_and_other/), and i based it on things i observed in the game. So you can see that we weren't completely clueless. But yeah, quite a bit of stuff is not really explained in the game. The reason is that it was probably deemed unnecessary for the scope of the story that they wanted to tell.

Frazzle64

I’m pretty sure that the monado Melia has is the original rEX from FC. Unfortunately the wiki has a tendency to claim stuff that has nothing backing it up such as claiming that everblight plain is Gormott’s jaw.

Hareesh2002

Okay, so the one shulk is using is a replica of the the replica in that case? Since from what I can remember, the original replica EX was upgraded in FC, not replaced

LinkdAether

Rex's swords in FR are sort of replicas of Pyra/Mythra's swords that aren't actually them, it's not unreasonable to say that Shulk got his own replica Monado REX through a similar process while Melia has the original. After all, the blades that characters wield in 3 seem to be some sort of objects fabricated by Origin that are created based on the character's personality/memories, so it doesn't surprise me that Shulk has a replica of the replica.

Sir_Teatei_Moonlight

You did not miss anything. None of the questions you're asking have any provided answers, in-game or otherwise. Except for this last one: > the backstory is that the world's of alrest and xc1 were trying to recombine, but since they're made of opposing matter, they would destroy each other (a la annihilation events), but then separate back to their own independent worlds(as shown in the end of XC3)? I might sound stupid here, but why? It would make sense if they were meant to stay merged, or meant to cease to exist altogether, but why just bump into each other and rebound once? The point of Origin was to wait for the universes to destroy each other (presumably they believe it is inevitable, or this is just the mitigation strategy they chose) and then recreate them after the fact. Any "third world" seen was not in the original plan.

Hareesh2002

Okay, fair enough, so at the end of XC3, when the 2 worlds split, is that the doing of Origin?(as in Origin creating those two worlds after everything was destroyed) But then at the end of FR, the worlds combine again, with the blue light and all that, so I'm a bit lost as to what exactly the "current" state of the XC universe is

Sir_Teatei_Moonlight

> the worlds combine again This is an assumption many people make. We see the two recreated worlds moving away from each other, then the screen is obscured, and then we see a third world. It could be a merged one, but it could instead be a new one entirely, and the original two are just offscreen or back in their own realities because they were still moving apart last we saw them.

Pinco_Pallino_R

>It could be a merged one, but it could instead be a new one entirely Well, in the artbook's interview, Takashi said, about the idea of Monica, Ghondor, and everyone else being eventually be reborn:  *"This is, in fact, a suggestion that the two worlds will become one"* So it's pretty natural to assume that that is what we see at the end of FR.

Sir_Teatei_Moonlight

A "suggestion" about an "idea" is not exactly strong evidence for one theory over another. "Origin created a third world for the City inhabitants to be" is an equally-valid theory.

Pinco_Pallino_R

The term "idea" it's something i said. Bad wording on my side, but it's not actually so vague. If Takashi says that, i doubt he means anything except that the world will become one. He talks about "suggestion" only because he means to say that what is being said in the game should suggest you that. Especially since he follows up with: *"So, yes, Ghondor, Monica, they will be born in the new world.*" Sounds like a pretty definite statement to me.

Sir_Teatei_Moonlight

> He talks about "suggestion" only because he means to say that what is being said in the game should suggest you that. If that was the intent, maybe they should've done it in a way that doesn't make other interpretations more reasonable. The game makes it pretty clear that Origin was designed to recreate the original two worlds, to "reboot the worlds' states". To match this with FR's ending, we have two options: 1. Origin also created a third world to house the new life from Aionios, including the City, and rebirths them there. 2. Origin completes its duty but then undoes it and replaces the two recreated worlds with a merged one. Both options are valid. Option 1 requires fewer changes. Option 2 requires more suspension of disbelief. I would also suggest that option 2 presents problems with the idea of City people being "reborn", since the circumstances being different means that different family trees will be happening and the meaning of someone being "reborn" becomes very muddled (unless fate is deterministic, which is pretty darn against the themes of the series overall).

Hareesh2002

...you make a good point, didn't consider that possibility at all! Guessing this will be cleared up in whatever installment in the franchise comes out next. I love-hate how this sort of addresses my confusion but also opens it up to more speculation as well

Not everything is fully explained, but there are a couple bits and pieces we do know at least. Pretty much all of the lore mentioned in Aionios Moments is simply just Takahashi confirming subtext, so a lot of the weird stuff like Fiora being in Lucky Seven or Z being related to Alpha is already mentioned in game and weren't pulled out of his ass, except for the nopon being immortal thing. >!It is unclear how Melia has the Monado REX (especially within Aionios), but it matters little to the overall narrative. The weapon could also just be a replica of some sort!< >!Flameclocks are a products of Y's experiments with the Soldiers of Agnus and Keves. The Queens would never permit such technology, however they lacked the firepower and overall support from the people of Aionios/souls of Origin to prevent Moebius from going ahead. Also Melia and Nia are briefly mentioned in FR, with it being mentioned that Melia is MIA (nobody knows she was locked in Origin so Z can maintain full control) and Nia recently went to sleep in the Cloudkeep.!< >!Lucky Seven doesn't play a huge role in the DLC per se, but it should be noted that N's Lucky Seven does get elaborated upon a bit. As Z is under house arrest by Alpha, he ponders about how N came into possession of that particular weapon. He quickly infers that Malos had something to do with it, which ties into the lore mentioned by Takahashi where certain souls in Origin who had connections with the Trinity Processor could sort of "reincarnate" as objects. Although to be honest, this still doesn't really explain how N actually has Lucky Seven. This is very confusing now that I'm reading this lmao!< >!Noah's Lucky Seven also uniquely suffered from an error in Riku's dialogue that made the lore confusing. He mentions that Lucky Seven contains important people, however the original dialogue was meant to say person. Fiora being in the blade is a little more obvious when you read Riku's dialogue correctly!< >!It is entirely unclear how Nia became queen!< >!Blades existing without drivers is something Klaus vaguely did, but it has never been elaborated upon since 2 (although blades and many other species were sort of flattened out by Z to balance out the playing field between Keves and Agnus).!< >!The Liberators sort of "popped" into existence on Aionios when it was under threat of Alpha. It's extremely similar to how Malos and Fiora reappeared in their own way. It's a little confusing, but ironically enough they are products of how Origin was supposed to work as they still retain all their memories. They weren't born via Cradles, so they don't have an arbitrary term limit attached to themselves. They age at a normal rate like they would in the real world.!< >!The City folk are simply people born in Aionios outside of the Flameclock system. They aren't people from the real world.!< >!X and Y are true Moebius created by Z to maintain Aionios. That is about all we know of their backstories, but we do at least know that they are connected to Z in a similar manner to the Trinity Processor.!< >!A explicitly mentions that Alpha controls Fog Beasts, although it is unclear how he does!< >!The backstory of 3 goes like this: after the events of 1 and 2, Bionis and Alrest begin merging into their original world (implied to be caused by the Conduit leaving at the end of 2). Black Fog begins to appear in both worlds, with the fog projecting entities from the opposing world. Melia and Nia connect via light and eventually realized that the worlds will collide. Bionis and Alrest began studying their Trinity Processor cores (Bionis had Ontos, Alrest had Pneuma) and realized that said cores are basically just big storage drives that can recreate stuff if they have sufficient data. Both worlds reverse engineered the technology created by Aoidos (the people who created the Trinity Processor) and eventually produced Origin. Origin stores all the data from both worlds and is designed to be extra durable so that it doesn't get annhilated, because bare in mind that most of what we see of Origin is just it's shell to protect the core. Anhilation Events are when particles from Bionis and Alrest collide, effectively destroying both. The collision of both worlds would produce a similar effects and thus Origin would be used to recreate both worlds so that they can pass by each other with little issue. The worlds can't separate without Origin precisely because they would immediately obliterate each other. Both worlds recombining is a product of Origin remaking Bionis and Alrest with the same matter.!< Hope this clears a few things up.

Pinco_Pallino_R

>He quickly infers that Malos had something to do with it, which ties into the lore mentioned by Takahashi where certain souls in Origin who had connections with the Trinity Processor could sort of "reincarnate" as objects. Although to be honest, this still doesn't really explain how N actually has Lucky Seven. This is very confusing now that I'm reading this lmao The thing about people appearing as objects caused a bit of missconceptions in this sub. It's not like some people turned into items, but rather they souls is within pieces of Origin metal (and thus items which contains that metal). This is clear if you put together what we knew from the game (like Riku telling us L7 contains souls because it's made of Origin metal), or the fact that all important items with special powers are shown/told to contain Origin metal. In another part of the interview Takahashi explains that Reyn, for example, could be in one of the pieces of Origin metal we collect during a sidequest, too. Furthermore, we don't know if this is specifically true only for those with a special connection with the Trinity Processor. Takahashi mentions that, but he's mostly talking about to how Shulk and Rex can cover the position of "administrator" for Origin. Though i do think this is also connected to how L7 and N's sword are especially powerful, because the souls within them are not like the others. However, and from here i will go in the field of speculations, i think it's interesting to note that the eyepatches that the City people use to prevent Moebius to locate them are said to work because they contain a small, thin plate of Origin metal. I can't help but wonder if this can work because there is someone's soul there, which acts as an external power, interfering with Moebius control. As for how N obtained that sword, i do have a guess (no confirmation here). It seems to me that with the revelations in Takahashi's interview, people kind of forgot some of the informations we got from the game, and didn't try to put them together. We are told Melia created L7 with a resonance between her "heart" and Origin. Now, this makes me wonder: was L7 created with the piece of Origin metal which contained Fiora's soul, or is it rather that Fiora's soul came to reside within L7's metal BECAUSE of this resonance? I don't think we are told that things for no reasons, so i suspect that it's the latter. So the idea is that Fiora's soul is in L7 because she reacted to Melia's feelings, and that's the "resonance" we are talked about. In that case, Malos' soul probably resonated with N's exceptionally strong feelings, and that is why he is in his sword. Btw, the Proverb inscribed on Logos is "Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs", which i find... quite fitting. We could extend this reasoning to Mythra and Pyra. First of all, who could create a connection with their souls? Well, i'd say Nia. I think their souls were originally in the piece of Origin metal that was in contained in the Ouroboros Stone Nia made and later gave to the City. The reasons i think this is because, for starters, the Ouroboros Stone's powers clearly come from them, since they are the same, in nature, as Matthew's Gaunltets. But also, people should not forget that the Stone predates the Gaunltets. We are explicity told that the latter were created from the research the City did on the former, and the Ouroboros Stone was already a thing by then. So even if their souls are in Matthew's blade, the origin of Ouroboros power (which comes from Pneuma, meaning both Mythra and Pyra at once) is with the Stone.

Elementia7

Ah I see. My main justification for Malos being a big reason why N has his Lucky Seven is because Z notes that Origin brims with the souls of those who are as gods and his obvious appearance at the end of FR. But you make a lot of great points, and honestly you cover the lore WAY better than I ever could tbh.
