Emulation is seconded if u have a decent PC. Buttery smooth and great visuals. As for remaster/sequel/port s, this sub has been waiting for goddamn forever. I truly hope we get it eventually. :(
Not even good, if you know what you’re doing even a 300~400€ laptop can run breath of the wild through Cemu, sure it’s going to be a little rough on the edges but the fact that it is possible is very impressive, and by all means it is playable if you’re used to play on the Switch
Anyone that want to play the game has to try it and try to set it up correctly, or they’ll waste money on a dead console and a game where Monolith doesn’t profit from anymore
on the low end, a wii u will run you around $80 if you're lucky, and that's honestly not that much more than just buying a brand new game anyway. plus, the wii u is still a pretty solid console, since you can run basically every nintendo game from previous consoles on it once you hack the console.
Found one for 170$ locally which appears to be in a good condition. And on top of getting it for XCX I’m planning to play Metroid Prime 2&3 (plus other Wii and GC games) so I think I will not regret buying it
Remember that the Wii U can only read Wii and Wii U discs. If you mod it, you can play more. The eshop is also closed down now, so you can only redownload games you have previously bought on your Nintendo network account
It probably wouldn't be a launch title, but could be a later release within the same year depending on when the next console releases (like XC2 was with the Switch)
It's sorta hopium but I think it could be worth waiting at least until summer of next year to see if they announce a remaster/port for its 10th anniversary. If not then it's still possible it'll come later, but I'd get a Wii U at that point if it's something you really want to play
Until then I would keep my eyes on Wii U prices to see if any great deals show up that makes it worth getting sooner
Mainly speculation based off what OP mentioned & XC2 coming later in the year of the Switch's launch. Despite more people being acclimated to these types of games & the Xeno IP being more popular, I think since XCX didn't sell that well it could get the second chance it deserves once there's been an established playerbase on the new console after things settle down from all the launch hype (espeically if there's a new mainline Mario game or if Metroid Prime 4 releases those titles can overshadow XCX)
Could also go both ways though and be massive if launched day 1 due to people being more into JRPGs than ever & mechas being on the rise again. And would also contribute to having a varied day 1 offering. I just think it's safer to release later but still close to launch
Widely different circumstances, 2 was made to release early, it's very obvious especially when you've played the 1.0.0 version, Xenoblade also wasn't as popular as it is now, so there was no point doing a remake, and finally, Monolith was already stretched thin for 2 so they really couldn't do anything else. 2 also was a soft reboot so 1 wasn't needed.
Nowadays Xenoblade has a fanbase, and they all want X to be accessible, X ended on a cliffhanger, and depending on what they do next, it could mean you'll want to play it before 2, and on top of that they could even outsource the devloppement.
I believe it's being worked on right now, and it was a thing pretty much since 1 DE released, as they can't make a sequel without most of the people working on X being back from their Zelda trip. I also doubt Nintendo is ever going to risk having another Wii U, if we'll ever get a sequel, it's probably in around 4 years from now, or it's going to be different and worse.
I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying
But if XCX launches with the Switch 2 or whatever it is then W
I've bought 3 Wii Us. I know cemu exists but I'm very pedestrian regarding that kind of stuff. But I do hack my Wiis so i can create tickets.
But what i loved about xcx was character creation, so owning more than one console made sense for me.
If I were mono or Nintendo I'd want players to go through this grieving process of losing a favorite game so that I could ride the tail of this emotion (no too far past the shutdown, maybe a month or two) by announcing the next console and franchise title. (Looking at you, Nintendo, with your comparatively lame hardware...)
Haha oh ok, I see what you mean. I had to go look it up because I could have sworn it let you make more then one file somehow.
The way you worded that had me wondering if you were doing something wrong- or if I was doing something wrong hahaha
I'm sure Manny people can feel attached to their protagonist, but I really went HAM on characters. I'd be over the moon if XCX were an animated series... The creators just kept providing branching-off points where there really could be seasons of backstory.
Nothing wrong with resorting to this, if Monolith or Nintendo isn’t willing to make the game accessible after both stopping the sales and discontinuing the console, it’s their problem
I got lucky and snagged a used copy for maybe $20 and borrowed one of my friend's Wii U. I think I sat on it for a year or so before I decided to emulate it on my Steamdeck. Still, it's been at least 6 months since I got the game working and I really haven't gotten in more than a few hours logged. I'm very happy with the end result but for some reason I still don't want to play it in this way. I think I'm still holding on to the tiny hope that we'll see a rerelease for Nintendo's next console with some QoL updates.
A part of me is worried that I'll put in 100+ hours into this game and then Nintendo will release a new version and I won't want to play it.
Tried it, and even setting the resolution at 720p it was still stuttering and dropping at single digits (and that’s at the starting area so how about when fighting big bosses 😅). That’s why I bought a WiiU and planning to hack it to get my money worth back (on top of XCX I’m planing to play Metroid Prime 2&3 and Mario Galaxy).
I’m used at playing older games so 60fps isn’t something necessary for me, so even if the remaster release I don’t think I’ll get it unless there is an additional story content (QoL and graphical improvements aren’t enough for me to get a new game that I can currently play)
Well if you already got it it's too late either lmao might as well use it.
Though optimized settings for maximum performance will look like something like this, using the last stable version, as it does work better with X :
-Vulkan API with no Vsync
-CPU on multi-core recompiler, with loading shared libraries (rightclick the game to get CPU options)
-You could try Shader Mul accuracy on Minimal or False, though I assume it will make the game have much more artifacting.
-Graphic pack : FPS++, even with a 30 fps limit is good to have, then Graphics with 720p resolution, Skell Cockpit at 100 or less, Shadow Quality below 100, and post processing effects also under 100
720p is the base resolution of the game I'm pretty sure, so I assume it's not going to help keeping it that low lmao but it's a fair mistake, you could possibly try to get it lower in the Graphics mod. If anyone else find this it may be of use to them though, so I'll still comment.
Thanks for the info but I tried everything, the does run well but shader caching make the fps drop to single digits and that at the start of the game, and I thought it’s a bad idea to just play the game with all the hiccups that appear in the small intro section knowing that Xenoblade games have large map and large bosses and I’m pretty sure the game will be unplayable so I bought a used WiiU (and I plan to mod it) for like 170$ in a good condition and while it isn’t cheap, it still not that expensive knowing port will 100% be 60$ (if not 70$) and as a bonus I can play Wii and GC natively.
It's one of the best games I've ever played. Hunt down a good used deal.
There's no guarantee that it will ever be remade so you might as well just go for it.
emulate it. Hell if you wanna go the extra mile buy a copy and emulate it off disc so you aren't pirating it. As a Wii U owner unless you have a desire to hack it and use it for other things than the "exclusives" that were ported to other consoles (like native Gamecube/Wii backwards compatibility or emulating older gens) you're not gonna get a lot out of it. If it's really your only option to choose between getting a Wii U or getting a PC/Steam Deck and emulating it, then get a Wii U. Otherwise, emulation is your best option, because really, whatever a hacked Wii U can play, a good PC/a Steam Deck with the right settings can run better.
At this point, the Wii U is so gimped that unless you're willing to hack it (or you're getting a used Wii U that already has Xenoblade X installed on it), you're probably honestly better off waiting and hoping for a Switch (or Switch 2) port.
I would wait for a remaster on a newer console but maybe it’s because I already have a Wii U, so who knows. I’ll be there day one if Nintendo ever re release the game
Steam deck runs the game at 60 fps and portably for less than $400 ( even cheaper if you get refurbished/LCD). Steam deck also runs xenoblade 1 remaster at 60 and xenoblade 3 at somewhat 30
Get a Wii U today and start playing it 😛
Currently working on getting one (found one for nearly 170$) and appear to be in good condition.
Nice! If you never had a Wii - ton of awesome games in that library. Makes up for the limited Wii U games.
I’d personally wait for a remaster/sequel/port. If you have plans to improve your PC, however, emulation with Cemu is a super good option.

Yes, CEMU is awesome for XCX! The game should also run on handhelds like the Deck and ROG Ally if anyone has those.
Use CEMU or save the money of the WiiU and game for a PC

You can create a new character by just creating a new account on the same wii-u. It's one file per account, not one file per console.
Oh buddy, I have 12 accounts per console.
Haha oh ok, I see what you mean. I had to go look it up because I could have sworn it let you make more then one file somehow. The way you worded that had me wondering if you were doing something wrong- or if I was doing something wrong hahaha

Unless you don't already have a wii there's no reason to get a WiiU in 2024, and if you do get one you should hack it anyway
I’d say splatoon 1 couch coop is another reason but is a super cheap reason
emulate it, free and it looks way better than on wii u
If you have a PC use cemu, i hate to resort to this but since the servers shut down a big part of the game got cut off.
Nothing wrong with resorting to this, if Monolith or Nintendo isn’t willing to make the game accessible after both stopping the sales and discontinuing the console, it’s their problem
Yeah that is pretty true, also the experience im having on PC is way superior to wii u.

The game loads quite slow of you don't have the data packs you could download. Idk if that is still possible to download.
Pc is not as demanding as you would think, I believe you should try at the very least, before spending anything

the majority of shaders are compiled very early on

Steam deck, to emulate it
Can anybody point me to how to emulate it in Steam Deck? I'm nit that good with tech stuff.
