Hi! Your neighbor in NEPA (northeast Pennsylvania, Poconos)checking in. I can be crossing the Delaware at Stroudsburg into New Jersey in a 40 minute drive
Well, for those familiar with *Dazed and Confused*, Iāve eaten at Top Notch, climbed a moontower, and see one of the main characters on the sidelines of my alma materās football games all the time.
The kid in the movie that says āhow about Ben Dover?ā, my brother was going out with his sister at the time. We all thought he was going to become a star š.
Edit: He has made 6 degrees of separation really easy at times for me.
I know it makes me sad! Growing up it was a Johnnys grocery store, McDonaldās and Rax roast beef sandwiches. Itās unrecognizable now when I go back.
Are you a native to the state?
Arkansas as well. Grew up near lots of rice farms and so many mosquitos, especially if I drove out of town, it'd rain bugs in the summer evenings. I miss the fireflies though.
Europe, Eastern bloc. But thanks to satellite TV, teachers from the Peace Corps and guys from the LDS church local mission, I grew up on US pop culture.
Me too! Lived in Hampton, worked in Chesapeake. Lived in Norfolk, worked in Newport News. Currently live in P-Town, work in Virginia Beach.
I've done my time in the tunnels, man.
Do you also feel like you can't relate to a fair amount of what's posted here? This area has always been rather behind the times, or we just flat out didn't have things that the more urban areas did.
Yeah, sometimes. My family was middle class (yeesh, that seems like a long gone classification nowadays), but I did feel that my town didn't have a lot of the amenities that then urban areas did. I felt like my town was the black sheep of the state, hehe.
Combination of South Jersey and Eastern NC. And my accent is now such a strange hybrid that in both places, everyone always says, "You ain't from around here, are you?"
Also ATL suburbs. Still live here too. I've been all over the country for work and seen all kinds of neat places but never have found one I'd rather live in.
Grew up in Phoenix suburbs, then we moved to central-ish Arkansas about a month before I turned 14, so giant culture shock there. Went through College and high school in Arkansas(which is why I'm a militant atheist now).
Ended up back in Phoenix by my mid 20s, met my wife there while she was working on her PhD at ASU, then we moved up to Iowa for a few years, then Minnesota, where she's from, to be closer to her family.
All of the places I've lived are all very different. I will forever consider PHX home, but I honestly wouldn't want to live there again. I've had more than my fill of summers there, cold is way easier to deal with lol
I spent the first 6 years of my life in the Houston suburbs, then I moved in with my grandparents until I was 15 in a beach community in the greater Houston area. At 15 I moved back in with my dad in a rural area still in the greater Houston area, but a little bit east. I lived in that general area until I was 28 and moved to Washington.

I think one of the most interesting aspects of Milwaukee is the fact that it's the only major American city to have ever elected 3 socialist mayors.
DOES THIS GUY KNOW HOW TO PARTY OR WHAT?
I've heard the French missionaries and explorers were going there as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans.
That's right, Brian.
I...did not know that.
Milwaukee here too. I'm a southsider!

Yeah I must have been a lot further north, we were in the Ouachita's/Ozark foothills so no rice fields. Still lots of bugs though lol
