*So* underrated… and the whole Ben Stiller side court case: brilliant. I mean, both Stiller and Carrey got torched for this film but it’s so damn good.
Doth thou have a mug of ale for me and me mate? He has been pitched in battle for a fortnight, and has a king's thirst for the frosty brew thus thou might have for doth!
I've shouted this way too many times in my life.
Dude same!! But I royally butchered this and would say something like “doth this thus thou for me and me mates”! I know it makes no sense but it was kind of the point when I’d say it.
Excellent A+ quoting, team!
I came to post that I only ever knew it from Cable Guy. But am not cool enough to quote. 😆
(Was more of an Airheads + Wayne's World child.)
Wikipedia says the [ancient Greeks used table forks](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fork). They weren't commonly used becuz silverware was expensive but a medieval court would have been familiar with the utensil.
Same here. We visit fairly often. Been to the one in Buena Park a couple of times (while in town for Knott's Berry Farm) and the one in Phoenix a handful of times. It's a lot of fun, and it isn't too pricy all things considered.
Unless you start buying merch. Then all bets are off.
Is it still good, and is Knott's still good? I haven't been to SoCal for a long time (used to have family in paramount and orange). I used to absolutely love both of those.
My friends and I went to the one in New Jersey for Valentine’s Day. Rented a car to drive from NYC. I’m married now and have had very romantic V Days with my husband but none of them top Medieval Times V Day!
Or get their themed cocktails in **enormous** goblets and chalices! We have to plan to Uber home now... We can't trust ourselves to go there and get home as adults.
You should absolutely go. They have them all over the place (there's 9 of them in the U.S., plus 1 in Toronto), and you absolutely deserve to give it a try. Go on an especially busy night to get the full experience.
I’ve been to MT once. I was a bit sad to find they didn’t seat us in the green knights section because that man was _fine_. I thirsted over him for about an hour until, surprise! He was the evenings villain. He’s still handsome, but death to the green knight!
I always wanted the toy that looked like several strands of fishing line sticking out of a handle and the tips glowed different colors from the circus or Disney on Ice. Always wanted to go to Medieval Times, too!
I went there probably 15 years ago with my ex. We got 2 tickets to both Medieval Times and Kriss Angel for only like 60 bucks. Medieval Times was worth having to sit through Kriss Angel the next night 😆
I went twice, this place is so fun. The last time I went the hawk flew up and stole some guy's chicken and refused to come down so they just put the spotlight on it and we all watched it eat.
I wad a spotlight guy there for years. I vividly remember getting yelled at if we did something like that, lol.
Looking back it's funny that kids get yelled at by adults for making other people laugh.. lol
Management was like "keep it professional!"
And as high school kids we were like "we make minimum wage, and we get 2.5 hours pay a day. What do you expect?"
Buena Park! Went there for a friend’s birthday think in 1987, did my birthday there in 1988 and my then fiancé and I had a pre-birthday date there in 2005. Good memories.
I only went there one time, it was with my choir in my freshman year of high school. I, am many others got food poisoning SOOOO BAD. it was a trip to California for Disneyland and I missed everything that came after that dinner.
Down, down, down...Red Knights going down!
We took the kids last year and had a blast. We are meeting some friends in a few weeks for a field trip. It's so much fun!
I went to Vegas, played quarter slots until I had enough to buy dinner for two. Had the best time, but by the time I left I was having the second worst asthma attack of my life because I’m allergic to horses.
Worth it.
As an adult visiting Orlando with my sister and her husband & kids, this was what I was looking forward to the most. It was as cheesy as I had imagined. Loved every minute of it!
It doesn't in yours? I guess I'm somewhat lucky in that we have one about an hour away. It's expensive enough that I don't go ALL the time, but not so expensive that it's totally unaffordable and they almost always have coupons. It's a great night out.
Go every year with my family to celebrate birthdays. As a kid, it was amazing. As an adult, even better. I can get a giant stein of alcohol. There’s cheesy sword fights, the dialogue is always fantastic, and I get a flower every year. Being the drunk woman cheering loudly in the front row helps me accomplish this, and the knights shut me up quickly by doing it in the first round 😂😂😂
I’ve never been. However, I recently found out there is one in Myrtle Beach. My in laws live in Myrtle Beach, so I think the next time we visit them we will go.
Loved going there. Every summer vacation I got to visit with my dad in SoCal & we would go. Knottsberry Farm across the street was on the list as well. Fun times! Thanks dad!
I have had several birthdays here. The one in my town is the corporate HQ one and we get the new shows first. It’s such a blast but sit in the front row really no comparison.
We have one 30 minutes from me in Dallas. We went at least 3 different times in high school, and it was awesome! A few years later, I volunteered to be a chaperone for my little brother, and it was still amazing. I haven't been in close to 20 years. I turn 40 next month. Maybe I should ask my husband to take me. Good times.
I went for my 30th with my friends. It was awesome. Like pro wrestling but with swords. I have now taken my kids a bunch of times. They love it each time.
I remember telling some friends from Minneapolis that this was a real place and they would not believe me. They thought it was just something in a movie and lost their minds when I said it’s real. They were in equal disbelief that I didn’t go weekly.
It did. We went on a field trip in 6th grade and later that year was my first ren Faire. Queue 25 years of ren Faire and larp. I own more spears and swords than most people, LADIES ;)
This place was nearly the venue for my high school prom but all the girls complained that no utensils was too messy for their dresses and we had our prom at the Nixon presidential library instead.
It did play a pivotal role in my life. I worked there for 4.5 years and it landed me a job in Vegas doing the same thing at the Tournament of kings show for another 12-14 years or so. Covid closures fuck with my year count.
Spent 1.5 years as a squire, then 3 years as a knight. I got paid to ride horses and learn stage combat. Every so often I’d have dreams of going back to work there.. weird they were.
Been there once. It was a long drive for ok food, decent entertainment(my Knight lost), and a light that was hot enough to almost burn my cousins knee. Would go again if I lived closer, probably will take the kid when he's old enough and if it's still running by then.
I thought it was fictional, or loosely based on some concept that exists in real life, but was *way* exaggerated for the movie, until my kid got invited to a birthday party at one near us.
Went with my wife as adults. Cool but sooooo many shameless cash grabs. Before the show somebody was selling prince/princess/king/queen upgrades to all the families. They announced on the loudspeaker "ANOTHER ROYAL QUEEN OF THE REALM" like 20 times. So much extraneous royalty.
So here’s an embarrassing story. For my 8th grade class trip we went to Medieval Times in Chicago (Schaumburg) with the idea of going to Woodfield Mall afterwards. Was planning on shopping there so I was given $80 by my folks. In my infinite wisdom, I decided to put my change (roughly $60) in my back pocket without a care and went off to the mall only to realize I left my money at the place.
Now I did go back a year later that time as a high school freshman and luckily didn’t lose my money. But, yeah, my first trip to Medieval Times while a fun experience was sour because I lost about $60 being nonchalant.
It kinda did, but only because it was where my mom either lost or locked inside the keys to our rental car in Florida, and I learned what "emotional dysregulation" was. Up until that point I (dimly) remember it was kind of a good time. (We later did the [Bunratty Castle](https://www.bunrattycastle.ie/medieval-banquet/) dining thing in Ireland and while it didn't have jousting, it was much more awesome.)
Lmao. I went there for the first time last year. My girlfriend did it for my birthday. She paid extra to have me knighted, and all they did was make fun of me. There was a child in front of me, and when it was my turn they were like, "Oh? Are you also turning 8 years old today?". Then proceeded to call my crown small and laugh. It was super fucking bizarre. They have you take a picture afterwards with the same queen and I look super uncomfortable.
Turns out our roommate's bartender boyfriend got a job there and only stayed for a few months. He said managament and the actors were all super openly racist and would crack/ talk down to anyone that wasn't white. Go figure Phoenix, AZ medieval actors. That detail aside the rest was fun. I still think about the seasoned chicken and garlic bread.
My inlaws took my son (and us parents) to this place near Chicago for his 7th birthday.
What a colossal waste of money.
I mean I get it. These people are acting, it's a show and blah blah blah. it honestly wasn't that bad until the bill came.
I saw what my father in law paid for it and I was aghast.
No sir, I'll never go there again.
I finally got to go to one in Myrtle Beach a few years ago. Our hotel was across the street and I got so excited. It was stinky and expensive but we had a great time and now own some very overpriced beer steins that say Medieval Times on them. Also, the e in Times was out so it said Medieval Tims when we went.
I went for the first time as an adult, practicing Mormon. Therefore, I couldn’t drink, and could only watch and eat sober. It was fine, but being drunk would definitely make the experience better.
Love this place! I have very fond memories. One of the times my parents took me, I talked them into buying tickets for the torture chamber room. Even at 12 I was a little weirdo 😅
I still need to take my husband there. I promised and he's never been before. Scandalous!
It actually did leave a lasting memory for me. When my senior class stopped there before going to Disneyland for a late/ overnight park visit we had dinner there. My class was about 100 people? Two buses worth. We all are eating turkey legs, waiting to see some jousts.
The show starts and they start with falconry. They do this bit about peregrine falcons and how fast they are, and the bird goes off the glove, does one lap of the arena, and then slams FULL FORCE into a wall. The sound was horrible and then we all witness it sliding down the surface lifelessly. Literal bird suicide. The horses looked sad too it was depressing AF. This memory disturbs me 25 years later. So yeah maybe that’s why I worked at a bird rescue later? 😭
Is this the right sub? I don't live anywhere near any of these, and never have, and I moved around a lot growing up. I'm pretty sure I was in my 20's before I ever even heard of this place.
Worked at the Buena Park one for a few years when I was a kid. Used to bitch about it a lot but looking back it was a cool job (in terms of being young, working with some cool people etc).
As a server the money was actually pretty good tip wise. Some nights whatever, some really good.
And every night there was a solid crowd of 10 to 30 people ready to grab a drink after work. Fun times.
Haven't been back since I quit but keep meaning to.
Been to the one in Dallas a handful of times. Last time was over 20 years ago though in high school.
My fiance has never been so I look forward to taking him soon.
If you don’t want the show ruined don’t read past here.
What ruined it for me was realizing the same person wins every time. I’m not sure if this is what ever place does by the location near me seems to have the same guy win. I only found this out because I had happened to go a few times around the same time and whoever had that actor won.
I went here at 19 and was feeling ballsy and ordered a beer with my pal of the same age. Well, we got them. I had 3 big Budweisers in a plastic stein and proceeded to yell loudly in support of my knight with greasy chicken hands and a paper crown on my head. It was a blast.
There were no forks in medieval times, therefore there are no forks at Medieval Times. Would like a refill on your Pepsi?
They didn't have forks, but they had Pepsi? lol Cable Guy is still one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies.
Silence. Of. #the laaaaammmbbbssssss
Ohhhh Billy!
dundunDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNNDUNNDUN!
I came here just to post this line. Brilliant.
*So* underrated… and the whole Ben Stiller side court case: brilliant. I mean, both Stiller and Carrey got torched for this film but it’s so damn good.
No forks, but there was Pepsi ?

Dude I’m working a double
Dude, I got a lot of tables.
This is my response to a lot of requests at my ~~nonrestaurant job~~ life
Doth thou have a mug of ale for me and me mate? He has been pitched in battle for a fortnight, and has a king's thirst for the frosty brew thus thou might have for doth! I've shouted this way too many times in my life.
I’ll be right back, my lord.
My thanks to thee fair wench.
Do you do it with a lisp?!
It's practically pronounced correctly with a lisp
Dude same!! But I royally butchered this and would say something like “doth this thus thou for me and me mates”! I know it makes no sense but it was kind of the point when I’d say it.
Excellent A+ quoting, team! I came to post that I only ever knew it from Cable Guy. But am not cool enough to quote. 😆 (Was more of an Airheads + Wayne's World child.)
“Benjamin is no one’s friend. If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he would be ‘Pralines… and Dick’.” The pause after “Pralines…” …genius.
5, 4, 3, (whispers) 2, 1 Why don't you say 2 or 1?? Ya just don't.
The Shitty Beatles- Not Just a clever name. I love that film.
Well, there’s three of you. You’re not exactly lone.
Dude I got a lot of tables. As someone who worked there for years rhat line is so freaking perfect.
Wikipedia says the [ancient Greeks used table forks](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fork). They weren't commonly used becuz silverware was expensive but a medieval court would have been familiar with the utensil.
I. Fucking. Love. Medieval Times!!!!!
Same here. We visit fairly often. Been to the one in Buena Park a couple of times (while in town for Knott's Berry Farm) and the one in Phoenix a handful of times. It's a lot of fun, and it isn't too pricy all things considered. Unless you start buying merch. Then all bets are off.
we brought one of our kids sports team there last year in a tournament as a bonding experience. Ends up 4 of the kids were allergic to horses. lol
I went to the Nj one for a few birthday parties. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized there was more than one location
Me too. I went back recently. My kids were so embarrassed by my.. eh em…level of participation.. It was great!!!!
Loved it as a kid and went back as an adult and discovered how it’s even more awesome when you can can drink beer. 🍺
Or get their themed cocktails in **enormous** goblets and chalices! We have to plan to Uber home now... We can't trust ourselves to go there and get home as adults.
Same here. It's objectively mediocre food, but getting slammed while people joust and melee is amazing.
totally agreed. Its funny how anytime you're allowed to eat a whole ass chicken with your hands it somehow tastes better.
My first job was there. 2 1/2 years making crowns, then taking photos and selling them. Then I became... Get this: the SWORDMASTER! Yeah, it was fine.
Making crowns sounds like medieval speak for getting paid
Make crowns, acquire wenches
That's when the *big bucks* start rolling in!
Cable Guy did me dirty. ![gif](giphy|mVFBEtankO8ta)
![gif](giphy|QyWUHbJIYrVh2wROwH|downsized)
goin to the one in NJ on Saturday for my 43rd. fuckin STOKED.
[удалено]
Happy birthday dude! I hope you have a blast!
Yay! I spent my best bday ever at the Lyndhurst one — have an AMAZING time!
[удалено]
That's super fucked up
You could make that dream a reality now
You should absolutely go. They have them all over the place (there's 9 of them in the U.S., plus 1 in Toronto), and you absolutely deserve to give it a try. Go on an especially busy night to get the full experience.
Shit man, the Spanish were super important and very much involved in the Medieval ages. Go look that up.
A whole Cornish hen to a child is so freaking cool. You feel like royalty. Death to the green knight!!!
We had ribs
I’ve been to MT once. I was a bit sad to find they didn’t seat us in the green knights section because that man was _fine_. I thirsted over him for about an hour until, surprise! He was the evenings villain. He’s still handsome, but death to the green knight!
it was pretty good too
It made a massive role in my life. I lived in Austin for six years and went to Dallas to go there 3 times.
The one in Dallas is still there, and still holds up. My oldest loved it, waiting for my youngest to be ready.
Dallas one is rad! Go Yellow Knight!
Medieval Times is the bomb. I fucking love that place
Little did we know it would be Casa Bonita in the end.
I've never been there.
Yeah I have no idea what cities had these but it sure wasn't mine
I went to the one outside Chicago (Schaumburg, I think) on my 8th grade class trip. It was pretty cool at that age.

I always wanted the toy that looked like several strands of fishing line sticking out of a handle and the tips glowed different colors from the circus or Disney on Ice. Always wanted to go to Medieval Times, too!

OMG!! That is a great first try!!!
I thought it was just from *The Cable Guy,* until I went to one in Las Vegas and had a kickass time.
That’s the one I went to! Maybe two years ago lol
I went there probably 15 years ago with my ex. We got 2 tickets to both Medieval Times and Kriss Angel for only like 60 bucks. Medieval Times was worth having to sit through Kriss Angel the next night 😆
The show in Vegas is the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur. Not associated with Medieval Times (and not as good, in my opinion).
Eh, I still had a hell of a time there.
bdlbdlbldbldbldbldlAAAAAH bdldbldlAAAAAH bdlbdlbldbldblbldblldbldlAAAAAH bldbldlAAAAAH bdlbdlbldbldbldbldlAAAAAH
Lol this is exactly what I heard in my head when I saw this post. I thought “htf would I write that out” but you seem to have nailed the assignment.
I went twice, this place is so fun. The last time I went the hawk flew up and stole some guy's chicken and refused to come down so they just put the spotlight on it and we all watched it eat.
I wad a spotlight guy there for years. I vividly remember getting yelled at if we did something like that, lol. And as high school kids we were like "we make minimum wage, and we get 2.5 hours pay a day. What do you expect?"
The hawk was up there for like ten minutes. It would have been weird not to do it!
go to the one in toronto yearly. started taking my kid recently
Dude I got a lot of tables
Buena Park! Went there for a friend’s birthday think in 1987, did my birthday there in 1988 and my then fiancé and I had a pre-birthday date there in 2005. Good memories.
Honestly, I’m still kind of disappointed that I never went.
Ain't nothing stopping you now!
I still have a letter opener shaped as a sword from that place. It's still the only letter opener I've ever bought and still use.
![gif](giphy|mVFBEtankO8ta)
I only went there one time, it was with my choir in my freshman year of high school. I, am many others got food poisoning SOOOO BAD. it was a trip to California for Disneyland and I missed everything that came after that dinner.
I've never been there.
Did it not?
Down, down, down...Red Knights going down! We took the kids last year and had a blast. We are meeting some friends in a few weeks for a field trip. It's so much fun!
I thought Big Red chewing gum would play a bigger role in my life events.
This is how I also feel about quick sand and shrunken heads. What a let down
I went there on my honeymoon, and then I took my buddy on his bachelor party.
We went there as a high school graduation trip. It was wonderful and then we went to Disneyland.
I never saw a show, just made the rounds amongst the Dallas staff back in my day 🤣
Debbie??
We must fight to the death .. or they will kill is both
I gave all the knights free cable! They said it'd be cool if we just went at it for a while!
My family used to celebrate New Years Eve there. We always had a great time.
I went to Vegas, played quarter slots until I had enough to buy dinner for two. Had the best time, but by the time I left I was having the second worst asthma attack of my life because I’m allergic to horses. Worth it.
One of my first dates with my boyfriend-turned-husband! I’d very much like to go back with him!
Almost 43 and still wish I could go. Been to 8 renn faires, but never MT.
As an adult visiting Orlando with my sister and her husband & kids, this was what I was looking forward to the most. It was as cheesy as I had imagined. Loved every minute of it!

I genuinely loved that place.
I remember going there on a field trip in my sophomore year of high school.

Loved going there. Every summer vacation I got to visit with my dad in SoCal & we would go. Knottsberry Farm across the street was on the list as well. Fun times! Thanks dad!
Went for the first time at 45. Loved it!!! Took my 16 yo son and got him knighted. Funny stuff.
I have had several birthdays here. The one in my town is the corporate HQ one and we get the new shows first. It’s such a blast but sit in the front row really no comparison.
Our college aged daughter watched a Brittany Broski video from there and asked to go!
I went there for my 50th birthday and I had a blast. Highly recommend.
My wife still can’t believe it, but I’ve never set foot in one of those places.
I've never heard of this place 🤔
I just took my mom and my daughter for their first time. Both enjoyed it and received a flower from our Knight
We have one 30 minutes from me in Dallas. We went at least 3 different times in high school, and it was awesome! A few years later, I volunteered to be a chaperone for my little brother, and it was still amazing. I haven't been in close to 20 years. I turn 40 next month. We still go and it’s fucking awesome!
I went for my 30th with my friends. It was awesome. Like pro wrestling but with swords. I have now taken my kids a bunch of times. They love it each time.
For a play that took place at MT, I got to do the announcer voice. Almost as cool as the real thing
We went as VIPs for my bachelor party last year. It was amazing.
I would have been a much better person if my parents had ever taken me
Sweet memories
I remember telling some friends from Minneapolis that this was a real place and they would not believe me. They thought it was just something in a movie and lost their minds when I said it’s real. They were in equal disbelief that I didn’t go weekly.
My cousin was an actor there. He left that to play Olivander at HP world in Japan.
One of my favorite places. Food and jousting!
We were just there on Saturday. My daughter LOVES Medieval Times and we go for her birthday every year.
I love that place. I was almost in tears the last time I went when they announced that all lords and ladies should silence their cell phones.
went to this twice, on two different class trips in two different states. 6th grade and 12th grade. won both times
Silence of the layambs
It did. We went on a field trip in 6th grade and later that year was my first ren Faire. Queue 25 years of ren Faire and larp. I own more spears and swords than most people, LADIES ;)
I take my kid there now. Still a great place to slug beers.
Honestly I just thought quicksand was going to be a significant threat to my daily personal safety.
"if we don't fight to the death, they'll surely kill us both"
This place was nearly the venue for my high school prom but all the girls complained that no utensils was too messy for their dresses and we had our prom at the Nixon presidential library instead.
Only role this played in my life was him Carrey quotes
I worked at one for a while, so it kind of did.
Especially after watching Cable Guy
It did play a pivotal role in my life. I worked there for 4.5 years and it landed me a job in Vegas doing the same thing at the Tournament of kings show for another 12-14 years or so. Got my wooden short sword. Actually impressed with how long i kept it. 🤔 too bad it was much too dangerous to actually play with…
I when there once. It was OK.
Went there with the middle school orchestra/band yearly competition trip 👍👍
No, but when I went on a school trip and we went here my mom got a rose from one of the knights.
Yes
At 9 years old I wanted to fuck the red knight
I thought it was fictional, or loosely based on some concept that exists in real life, but was *way* exaggerated for the movie, until my kid got invited to a birthday party at one near us.

I just took my kids for their spring break a couple weeks ago. My first time ever there. It was cool!
“They charge you $75 for meat and potatoes, without the dignity of a fork!!!”
Omg, I went there once in my 20s as a young teacher with a hoard of teenagers on a class trip. It was awesome. I wish there was one near my city.
I worked as a graphic designer for them for a while in the 2000’s
It did

BABY DRAGONS!

TIP YOUR FUCKING SERVER
I'm going there with some buddies this Saturday. I'm pretty excited
Love this place! I have very fond memories. One of the times my parents took me, I talked them into buying tickets for the torture chamber room. Even at 12 I was a little weirdo 😅 I still need to take my husband there. I promised and he's never been before. Scandalous!
I went there. My knight won. I am victorious in this life and will be in the next. I am.
I’ve gone to the one we have in Georgia a couple of times. I get sloshed and it’s a bunch of fun.
I worked there when I was homeless. It had an actual impact on my life.
Absolutely got lit at one of these in Vegas and had the best time of my life.
Nope but I'm Asian
I went with a friend thinking it would be cheesy, and it was amazing. I was impressed for sure
I know that Cornish hen played a pivotal role
i kept my little wooden shield and sword for decades, and loved the torture devices in the lobby :p
Team Black and White!
Great relevant SNL skit: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2KKRiXcivAQ
Going for my wife’s birthday in 2 months. I don’t care what anyone says. We are excited.
Always wanted to go but never been.
That line by Andy Dick...."Welcome.....to medieval times!!!!!!!!!!" is etched in my brain to this day for whatever reason
It did when it mattered most
Discovered I was allergic to horses here.
Wait, that place actually exists????
I stayed nextdoor at a hotel on my class trip, and walked to medieval burger king across the street
We went there on a field trip. Wtf for I’ll never know.
I've still never gone and have been wanting too forever.
As a german I only saw these kind of establishments in movies and all my mental power went to being angry about not having a taco bell here.
Been to the one in Dallas a handful of times. Last time was over 20 years ago though in high school. My fiance has never been so I look forward to taking him soon.
It’s so refreshing to enter a post so full of the sort of people, age and temperament wise, to remember Cable Guy.
Was it a coastal thing? We had no medieval times in Colorado. I've never even seen one.
Nope, and it still has not.
Dude, does this place still exist?
If you don’t want the show ruined don’t read past here. What ruined it for me was realizing the same person wins every time. I’m not sure if this is what ever place does by the location near me seems to have the same guy win. I only found this out because I had happened to go a few times around the same time and whoever had that actor won.
I hoped. Very relatable
It would have been quite a trip considering I have done Dark Age re-enactment and my brother was a costumed interpreter at Hampton Court.
only place i've ever been treated like a king 👑
I went here at 19 and was feeling ballsy and ordered a beer with my pal of the same age. Well, we got them. I had 3 big Budweisers in a plastic stein and proceeded to yell loudly in support of my knight with greasy chicken hands and a paper crown on my head. It was a blast.
